Monochrome Heights

I notoriously do not like platformers OR puzzle games. Every so often there's a platformer or puzzle game that just "clicks" for me. This is one of those games. Something about the phasing mechanic just makes my brain go "brrr" instead of getting caught up in it being a platformer or puzzle. I love screaming when I accidentally fall and immediately hit the respawn button out of reflex and then do that 20 more times until I get it. And who can say no to robots discussing autonomy and consciousness in this current world.

One of the most satisfying 2D platformers I've played in a looong time. Don't get it twisted... this game is CHALLENGING. Just the initial color swapping mechanic itself (which is prevalent in every one of the 46 levels in the game) is tough to wrap your head around. But once you start getting that down, zipping and dipping through the puzzling elements of this game becomes a real joy, even if you need to focus more on the moment-to-moment gameplay than you normally would with a "flow state" platformer. There's lots of content here to play and replay (in-game timer told me 17.5 hours for 100% completion), including KONG letter style collectibles that open up supremely hard challenge levels at the end of every zone, and a final FINAL level that was a joy to play through. Makes for a fantastic speed game... I'm already trying my hand at speed tech now (including a hidden slide-cancel jump that gets you lots of air). This one's definitely worth picking up!!

This is a great, unique 2D platformer. It's also hard as hell, but not so much that it feels unfair. Any fans of 2D platformers would do well to pick this one up.

This is a great game! Tight jumps, very precise, a great platform game for the challenge. And the twist of phasing is amazing.

A fantastic 2D platformer with interesting mechanics.. like, I love the phasing mechanic! It's so interesting and unique from other 2D platformers on Steam. Definitely one of my favorite games now.

Very challenging platformer with a cute story! After dying about 50 times on one section, I finally beat it, said ♥♥♥♥ you to the game, and promptly died on the next section. 10/10 will play more.

Super fun and challenging game. The phasing mechanic is unique and requires a ton of focus and timing to get down. Each zone pushes you to the limits by introducing new mechanics along with harder platforming challenges. Music is great and the art is cute. I don't always expect a riveting story in challenging platformers like this but it really goes for it. Great game, check it out!

Monochrome Heights is a platformer with personality. The art, the music, the gameplay and the story all move in sync, delivering an exceptional experience. It's a damn fun game, even when it's real damn hard. Definitely worth checking out this one, especially if you love clever mechanics and solid storytelling. Highly recommended!

Platformers are not the main type of games I play (usually i'm more for rpgs/adventure games/narrative games) but from time to time some games from this genre just clicks with me and Monochrome Heights is one of those! The phasing mechanic is really an interesting (and challenging at the later levels! The whole game can be hard at times but when you lock in the flow of the game it's really satisfying) gameplay that keeps the game fresh and interesting; the graphic and aestethic of the game is really nice and pleasant and even the plot (which usually is not the strongest part of a platformer) is nice to follow and interesting (helps that it's about robots!). Definitely a game worth playing, check it out!

Color swapping precision stress. My brain can't take the constant switching colors and I at some points died multiple times in a row because I hit button when I shouldn't have hit button. Smooth platforming meetings quick thinking brain puzzles. It's simple yet effect in it's goal to provide an experience that I would liken to Celeste and other precision platformers. There is a story of humankind's destruction but the core gameplay is jumping and failing. Great game to get stressed out to.
