About
Moduwar is a Real-Time Strategy game that redefines the genre with its unique modular gameplay. Instead of commanding traditional units, you control the Modu, a highly adaptable native species of water-dwelling creature capable of growing, merging, and splitting their organic structures in real time. By strategically evolving different organs, you create custom units that adapt to any battle scenario.
Use resources to grow your Modu starting with the heart, the most vital organ you must protect at all costs. You can expand your Modu by growing tiles off your body and placing new organs on top of them. As you play, you learn to grow more useful and specialized organs to face any battle.
Split tiles into singular organ units to scout your enemies quickly and give yourself the strategic advantage. Split and merge multiple tiles to build your armada, combine your organs to unlock unique abilities, send them to war or merge back with your main body to stand your ground!
In the single-player campaign, you fight for survival and liberation, unlocking new organ combinations and evolving abilities while commanding one of three distinct factions, but the battle doesn’t end there.
Moduwar offers multiple game modes in addition to the single-player campaign:
Multiplayer (Up to 4 Players) – Compete or cooperate in dynamic battles.
Arena Mode – Test your best Modu builds in intense battles.
Survival Mode – Face relentless waves of enemies in a fight for endurance.
Classic Skirmish – Engage in tactical battles with customizable settings.

Set in the rich and dangerous world of Arkadia, Moduwar immerses you in an alien ecosystem filled with awe-inspiring and terrifying creatures. However, Arkadia is under siege—two invading forces, the technologically advanced Humans and the ruthless Chimera, have enslaved the native Modu, turning them into living weapons of war.
You are a Modu forced to serve the ERE - Earth Repatriation Expedition. Will you continue to fight under the ERE, or break the shackles and set yourself free?
Your choices will determine the fate of all life on Arkadia, the galaxy and the Moduwar!

Interesting concept. Something like Calyx, but you are the monster. Very good narration, and pleasant voice acting. Initial campaign mediocre, but believable. Spiking difficulty curve. Even normal become unplayable on mission 6. Needs a little better tutorial. Skips certain things. Many you have to discover yourself, sometimes by accident. Not very deep gameplay in strategical sense, but just enough to get you hooked. A little repetitive at moments. Controls need improvement. Tactical pause is necessity here. Lots of minor issues. Good graphics, aside of Modu itself. It's integration with water is a bit stiff. Cutscenes... abysmal. Barely anyone can withstand this level of bad acting. Fix it or scrape it. Initially, I thought they were pretending to be ridiculous as a joke, but no, they were serious. Fire that chick, unsalvageable as an actor. Or make her navigation officer. She sounds like she hates the crew and the job, sloppy, unprofessional and pretentious. Make the guy the commander. If he gets his ♥♥♥♥ together he could act as cpt Pickard of the Enterprise. So, all in all, not a pricy title, but still very deep in development hell. Hopefully, they can expand and polish the game. Or remove the cutscenes and sell it cheap. In current state, I would not recommend.
spore + mechabellum fused into one, and cut into a fourth, that is what this game is, 9/10
game is buggier than f*cking ark, Grey Goo has a better living weapon faction plus multiple others as well.
I like the concept a lot and haven't seen something like this since Genesis Rising (2000), its nice to have another RTS with a touch of the organic under my belt. I only hope it gets more polished and its gameplay fine tuned in the future.
This is a gem! From the stylish almost claymation graphics to the FMV cutscenes and utterly unique concept, this wouldn't feel out of place in the 90s wild west of video games. Luckily in the current era there's some very welcome comfort features here like a comprehensive tutorial and popups for any button you're confused by. This is essentially a combination of an RTS and Spore. You play as Modu, a lifeform that's adrift on the water, and now the pet project of a desperate human race training you to fight a sinister enemy both of you would prefer went extinct. Each 'building' and 'unit' stems directly from your mass. You spawn mouths and tentacles to fight, then you can disengage these to become free floating harvesters or soldiers gathering biomass to increase your size, features, and ultimately evolve you for new tasks. It all sounds great, looks great, from the music to the alien noises to the deeply serious FMV cast. There ARE so hiccups to this beautiful little game though. For one thing Modu doesn't do pinpoint precision very well so I got stuck a lot or couldn't access things because I wasn't entirely flush to the glowing arrow which did get frustrating sometimes. The other issue is that because of the unique systems combat is sort of random unless you somehow perfectly time both your rate of fire, turn radius, and your life. I've sent tons of units into combat and limped away with a handful because the enemy could attack faster or father or my units got trapped against each other. But this is all stuff that can get ironed out. As stands, very enjoyable, full of heart and ideas and it's great to finally find an original take on RTS gameplay out there!
