Missing The Point

A slow, cozy and beautiful game that is much more than a fishing simulator. It's an adventure game where the adventure is you. Take your time and discover the world around you and the world within you.

A little experimental chill game - in theory, about fishing. In practice, it's something else. But I won't spoil what exactly. A nice, calm time can be had here. Time for contemplation, time to wonder. And of course time to just chill and relax. More than one go is a guarantee, as there's a little bit of randomness and branching. Not much, but enough to make another ride as enjoyable as the first one.

Interesting art style, the fish look particularly amusing. It would be nice to have a catch tracker in the menu to see what you caught, what is missing, etc. Dark mode is very much appreciated. Still a bunch to discover, so can't peak too much on the story but so far, it's pretty intriguing. Playing on the Steam Deck, runs and controls well with low battery consumption.

A real indie gem! Relaxing fishing game on the surface with lots of little things to discover. I don't want to spoil too much so I won't go into details but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. And I haven't seen everything there is to see yet it seems so I'll be jumping back in to see what else there is to discover 👀

Loving the art style and the overall pacing

An interesting and introspective experience. I'm not sure if I "got" the point, but maybe that *is* the point.

I went into this game thinking it was just going to be a simple fishing game with fun visuals. I've grown to appreciate a lot of simpler games, little things to just whittle away at like power wash simulator. Just take my mind off things and do a simple task. But I was not prepared for the moments of reflection and introspection. Being alone and isolated can allow your thoughts to run away with no one around to ground you and I saw a bit of myself in the character at times. This game (much like life) can be as shallow or deep as you allow it to be. Ms. Frizzle always said to "take chances, make mistakes and get messy" and that's what life is. Life can be just a simple fishing game if you want it to be, but it can also be so much more. Sometimes trying to find the point is what makes you miss the point, but I think at the same time completely ignoring the point also misses it. Sorry for the stream of consciousness but I'm not the best with words. To sum it all up this game was reels and feels and I had a good time with it.

There is SO MUCH MORE to this game than I realized going in. At first, it seems so simple. But as I went further, I saw more and more how dynamic the story is and realized that sometimes the best thing to do is wait and see. Truly a steal! You don't know what you're missing til you're... Missing The Point ;) 10/10 RECOMMENDED!

I had fun, but also the game has a big issue of taking way too long to get back to where you were. I think I did 3 playthroughs, got the point ending, the get too drunk ending, then checked out the wedding. I think I saw like the same few events, just in a different order, and probably caught every fish in the game available up to that point. so, the game wants you to replay it, but then also is such a pain having to see the same thing again and take what feels like 30 minutes to get back to where I was (no idea how long it actually takes, but felt longer). game needs a "pick up where you just left off" button after each ending in addition to quit and start over. if there was some option for that already, wasn't clear, didn't see it.
