I love the atmosphere, artwork and music. That will keep me playing for awhile. But there are other things about this game that ruin the overall experience. The fact that you need to buy an expensive tool kit for every single tool you want to upgrade is ridiculous. For an item that seems unnecessary to begin with. And on top of that the resources like iron and hardwood are pretty scarce. It's not a matter of going to the hardwood grove and getting what you need, it's searching around for rare stumps and not really finding much. My hardwood bow despawned (no I didn't accidentally sell it) now I can't find enough hardwood to remake it. That bow was the only thing keeping me alive to make any progress. I also don't like the way the inventory works. You start out being able to carry a tiny handful of stuff and to get more bag space you have to find certain uncommon feathers around the world. Then with 8 feathers you can decide which -category- of stuff you want to expand like food, materials, armor etc. I like the game but I think these things contribute to an unnecessarily tedious feel which would lead me to probably not recommend it. Unless you're easily charmed by atmosphere and don't mind a grind.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

this game is really good, i read some of the comments and realized that some of y'all are braindead and can't read a map. like how can you not find the tools to start your farm when they tell you where they are??? most if not all of the quest have a yellow or blue zone on the map.
I love this game. The art is beautiful, the quests and lore notes are interesting, exploration is vast, events keep things changing, and the honor system makes for a good few playthroughs just to see everything. The combat can be a little frustrating given that the angle of characters is everything when it comes to landing hits but, I don't believe thats as much the games fault as it is my lack of skill.
I am begging the developers to please fix walking/character movement it is so cumbersome, slow, and frustrating it ruins the game. Everything else about this game is wonderful but it is a slog trying to get around the farm or map.
TL;DR: The game is finally in a place where it is safe to pick up, play and enjoy. If enough people do it, hopefully the devs will continue putting in the effort it still needs so it can be all it can be (and was expected at launch) While all the reviews that mention bugs are true (I've been trying the game since launch and running into them or the undercooked mechanics others complain about and been put off), this last update seems to have solved all the issues with the main quest line being broken. Is this ideal for a game that was launched almost 2 years ago? Far from it! What you can expect to find now is the 1.0 version we should've gotten back in Nov '24. Why the game was not released in EA when it clearly needed more time or extra resource$ is beyond me, but here we are - almost two years later, with several features still not living up to its true potential, but finally in a place that is stable enough to build upon and for a larger audience to enjoy and fall in love with. Yes, the combat can feel janky until you get used to it. Yes, the social mechanics, while intersting, are shallow and characters still lack a personality/back story/reason why you should care they died in a bandit raid/rat infestation event. Yes, the economy would benefit from a rebalance. And yes, resource grinding (specially for iron ore) is still a big part of the progression bottleneck. But even with all of that, it is hard not to fall in love with this game. The art style is gorgeous. The world feels an absolute delight to explore, but make no mistake, it is a bleak one, and a stark contrast with the colourful hand painted visuals. This goes hand in hand with the harshness of the setting you're thrown into - given a plot of overgrown land and a delapidated cottage and expecteded to survive in a land of bandits, wild beasts and supernatural beings with nothing but the clothes on your back and a rusty sword. The main story is serviceable, but gives you a reason to explore the map, and counters the tendency you may have to hunker down and focus solely on the farming/crafting element of the game, other than to find more resources. I am curious to see what where the expansion promised for later this year will take the game from a narrative perspective (co-op is not my thing, but it was one of the core pre-launch promises, and the community seems to look forward to it). All in all, the game is a mix of genres - more homesteading in a medieval frontier town setting than cozy farming sim, way more casual than a surivival game but challenging enough to punish you for mistakes. It is a game that opens up its world to you and invites you to shape a little corner of it to your image. And that, it's always done admirably well from launch. I genuinely hope enough players return to this rough gem of a game so that it continues to get the polish it deserves (and to some extent still needs). Pick it up on one of the frequent sales or wait for the bundle with the next DLC and enjoy a truly unique world the devs are still adding to.
Mirthwood is a fun farming simulation with RPG elements. I love the medieval setting, the simulation relationships, and the choice between farming and adventuring. There are some glitches, but they are minor and do not affect the gameplay much. The reason I like this game is because of the premise of a medieval life sim farming game, and the story is great. I think this is a good blend of fighting and building. My favorite part is exploring and finding things in places off the path, in areas I didn't have to go. It is simple, but sometimes simple is good. All in all, I would recommend this game for casual playing as the quests are short enough to be completed in little time. For the price, it is a great game.
I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately, a couple hours in and it just is so buggy for such simple things. Frozen dialogue, odd lag when sleeping, sleeping itself seems to take a long time, and I noticed the prompts by a bed were "sleep", "nap", and then "nap" again. Frequently, trees would not cut down. The animation+sound would play, but no amount of swinging would actually fell it, and I'm talking about the smallest sapling that is highlighted by the game. Combat is also weird. I have no problem with the art style, but I'll be fighting with an enemy above me and their attack will hit me, while mine, ostensibly aimed in the right spot, won't hit. Maybe when these kinds are smoothed out I'll give it another go, but issues like this shouldn't be coming up this far after release, within the very first moments of gameplay.
There are a few quirks to get used to, like each category(food, materials...) having its own limit on slots on the inventory, and the combat being something you need to get used to. To the social aspect, you have different choices on "topics" of conversation that each NPC reacts differently, gaining or losing points. I like the "survival" aspect, having hunger stamina and HP with sleep. It doesn't fix you in a set schedule; you can sleep and save at any point, but the longer you stay awake, it gives you a penalty mainly on your stamina, which at some point forces you to sleep to restore the max stamina. There is a wealth, a karma and a renown system that is supposed to matter, but at this time, I'm not sure what it does. It runs great, and I haven't encountered any bugs
