AT A GLANCE

Game Name: Mini Words - Top Movies
Original Release: 2020-04-10
Genre Tags: Casual, Puzzle, Spelling, Word Game
Estimated Playtime (Campaign): 1-2 hours
100% Achievements Playtime: 1-2 hours
DLC Required for 100% Achievements: No
Multiplayer Aspect: None
Replayability: None
Recommended To: Casual Gamers, Achievement Hunters

REVIEW
Mini Words - Top Movies is a casual, spelling, word game, puzzle game. It is the second game in the Mini Words series.
STORY
There is no story, background, or setup to the game.
GAMEPLAY
The goal of the game is to spell words in the allotted letters given, without crossing lines or leaving any letters unused. The words needed are all answers or partial answers around movies. The puzzles come in packs of 10 and the amount of words needed increases slightly as you progress. The problems and solutions are fixed so there is no deviation in the results. If you get stumped there are word puzzle tools online, and there are guides for each puzzle number.
PLAYTIME
The game is pretty easy for anyone with modern movie knowledge. If you are a Disney fan, there are a lot of questions you should get correct. There are 100 puzzles to complete. Play time for this game is ~1-2 hours to complete all puzzles and get all achievements.
COMPLAINTS
There is nothing specific to complain about for this game.
REPLAYABILITY
The game doesn’t have any replayability since the puzzles do not change.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend this game to anyone that likes casual word games or is an achievement hunter.
It's way shorter than the first Mini Words I played, which I appreciate. If you are familiar with Disney titles like Star Wars, Marvel, etc with a few other geek movies thrown in like Harry Potter and so on. It's a fun, short game. Well worth the buck!
95% quiz/trivia game and 5% puzzle game
Some answers have different solution "paths" which may interfere with another answer and so you need to juggle them around. But it's not a big challenge. Only a portion of the later levels have 4 (and a handful have 5) answers on the board at the same time, which means there are multiple different ways to combine answers and letter-strings. I wish there were more of these, as most of the rest of the game is a bit of a slog, where the answer is obvious in one or two attempts. However, it's a decent little game overall, and the price is very fair. The screenshots/video show you pretty much what you'll be getting 100 levels of. About 1.5 hours of gameplay to complete if you know most of the answers outright{*}, and probably up to an hour more if you have to "puzzle around" with the letters to recognize the correct answer. There is no hint system, asking The Google is your only way forward when necessary. {*}Pro-tip: Better start brushing up on your knowledge of Ice Age movies.
Öhm ... also von den Buchstaben her ... passt!
Good puzzle game 8/10 Games Guessed
I just don't like the puzzle aspect of the trivia where every letter needs to be selected even though you've solved the questions.
Achievements. Movie knowledge.
The Game
Trivie puzzle game where the questions are based on popular movies.
The Achievements
Simply finish the game. Solutions available, finishes in about 1 hour.
Recommendation
Interesting but nothing special. Neutral recommendation.
Basically a good game, with good levels, but the controls are so awful that it makes you even more aggressive than losing in Mario Kart. Pretty much in the first levels I had the bug that all letters were typed twice and that I was stuck in the main menu and in the level at the same time, only restarting the game helped.
Reasonably entertaining knowledge game, totally didn't use google lol
