About
Listen carefully to each sound and type your answer in the text field.
If you get it wrong, don’t worry: certain incorrect answers trigger hints meant to guide you without taking away the joy of discovery, and sometimes just to create a small connection and bring you a smile.
Some levels simply ask you to identify a sound, while others are deductive puzzles: I’ll ask you a question, and you’ll have to listen closely to find the right answer. Use reasoning, context, and a pinch of intuition.
And remember, you don’t have to know everything.
Feel free to ask a friend, search online, or even consult ChatGPT.
What matters is having fun.
🎵 More than one hundred sounds
🧩 Deductive levels that combine listening and logic
💡 Hints triggered by specific wrong answers
👫 Bring in friends to help you solve puzzles, like when we played together as kids
🔊 A clean, minimal interface designed to let the sound take the spotlight
Guess the Sound is a small personal project, created by a single developer with a lot of passion and curiosity for the world of sounds. 🎧
It’s not a game made to chase numbers or profit, it’s something I wanted to share because I love the idea that a simple sound can make someone smile, wonder, or spark an intuition.
Each level is a small, handcrafted puzzle designed to stimulate perception, logic, and creativity. No pressure, no judgment.
I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Guess the Sound does basically what the title would suggest. A series of sounds are played and you have to guess what the sound is. The attention changes slightly when we are asked to guess what someone is doing or asked a technical question on music theory or similar. This is when the game requires some kind of searching because if you are not musically trained then an internet search is the only way forward. Playing a sound and trying to guess what it is was quite fun actually and I enjoyed the challenge of those. Sometimes, if you are close to the answer then you are given subtle nudges by text to steer you in the right direction, and there are also three clues you can use which give ever increasing helpfulness. The part of the game I didn’t really enjoy were the “What am I doing?” questions and the more abstract answers which were just silly. For example, the sound of a glass chiming before a speech was not “Speech” or “Attention”. The answer was
“patience”.
When a sound of someone typing on a keyboard was presented, the answer wasn’t “Typing” but this generated a hint saying “What am I typing?” The answer was
“Guess the Sound.”
Then there was an obvious sound of a match being struck but the specific answer was
“Lighting a Candle.”
How on Earth am I meant to know what is being lit!? There are sounds where the technical term for those noises is needed and it is obvious that the developer is a sound engineer or composer because there are lots of sounds where technical terms are required which is very niche and very difficult to put into words when searching. There are some really frustrating moments where you just want to punch the screen due to the absurdity of some of the answers. I am sure that text box is there to mess with my head and try to wind me up. The sound of a Dolphin is played. Haha but no, it’s not a dolphin it is something mimicking a dolphin. Okay, Google what mimics a dolphin noise? A proboscis monkey apparently and other mammals like Whales. Nope! The answer was
A Human
. Are you serious? I would much prefer it if this game removed the abstract and technical side of things from this game because they were just frustrating to solve. I can see that the developer was trying to spice it up a bit but I think that has backfired and I would just concentrate on simple noises. If the dev wanted to make it more exciting, they could introduce scores, with hints or wrong answers costing points, and perhaps leader boards and some more achievements, or have a party mode with teams playing against each other.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Guess the Sound is a fun game if guessing sounds appeals to you. Be warned though that some of the sounds are more abstract and may lead to a technical term or a feeling, rather than an object, which can prove frustrating. There’s a couple of hours of game play here and can be quite fun to ask your partner what the noise is if you are stuck, so if you had a group of friends around it would make for a good party game, and maybe that is where the dev could develop this further. cute little game, i enjoyed it
I very much enjoyed the game: it was cozy and chill, but challenging at times, making it just the right balanced experience for me. The overall vibe is quite relaxing and I like that there are no timers, scores, points, etc. You just choose your own pace and disconnect for a while. The game is designed to give some sort of hint whenever you guess wrong (but still somehow close enough) to steer you in the right direction. Some of the sounds were pretty straightforward to guess, others were a bit more niche so I had to combine several such hints (and sometimes use the help of Google). But, honestly, once I learned how to play a bit with these "wrong guesses" it became one of the most entertaining bits of the game for me, since the developer uses this mechanic also to share personal experiences, fun facts and random thoughts. So, over time, you really have the impression of developing a relationship with the creator and you can see they pour all of themselves into it. There are some aesthetic limitations and a few things in the UX that might need some more polishing, which I think is due to the game being a solo dev project, but for the price ... it was totally worth it for me. I had a nice evening and I think I can use it for some quiz night with friends as well!!!
This is an interesting game in which you have to write down what is causing the sound. You start with several sections that look like a skill tree in RPG games, with only one available option you can click. When you solve this puzzle, you open access to any other puzzle connected to it with lines. It is a fun replacement for a stage select menu and gives you the option to try other puzzles instead of going through them in a linear path. Clicking on a stage node takes you to the main screen, where you have a hint at the top, a play button that triggers the sound, and a box where you write your answer. I like that the game gives feedback based on your answers. If it is entirely wrong, you get a standard incorrect answer. But if you are somewhat close, you receive a hint. For instance, if you write thunder when the answer is storm, you get feedback that thunder is part of it. Or if you write birds for the answer crickets, the feedback says that birds are indeed noisy. Still, there are some feedback situations that can be annoying. For instance, the answer wind chime triggers the response that you are close and should check if you wrote it correctly. It turns out the correct answer was wind chimes in plural. Another example is coin flipping, which offers no meaningful feedback while the real answer is coin flip. There is also the incorrect shepherd versus the correct shepard. A correct answer gives you a fun little sentence about it, and you can move on. Some puzzles are a bit tricky, but the game has a nice hint system that comes in three levels of helpfulness. You can go straight for the most helpful hint or choose a smaller hint that nudges you in the right direction. Using hints is entirely up to you because there are no rewards for finding all sounds by yourself. At the end of the day, this is meant to be a casual game, so it does not take long to finish even if you struggle with some answers. The game acknowledges this and even suggests that you search online for answers or ask an AI.
