About
Mind Over Magic is a colony simulation game developed by Sparkypants and published by Klei Publishing.
Build and optimize a magic school while keeping powerful mages alive and inspired. Prepare them to explore the horrors of the Underschool, a deadly subterranean gauntlet. Study lost arcana, grow exotic plants, brew potions, and raise undead servants. But don’t forget to stop the deadly fog from consuming everything in its path.
Build the ultimate magic school, brick by brick. Design every room to fit your vision. Unlock new furniture, wallpaper, lighting, and decorations to personalize every detail. Experiment with layouts to discover hidden efficiency bonuses and create the perfect balance of design and function.
Beneath your school lies a mysterious labyrinth filled with dark secrets, deadly magic, and ghastly creatures. The deeper you explore, the greater the rewards—but danger doesn’t always stay underground.
Research and discover mystical beasts to serve your school and unlock powerful new resources. These creatures require food, affection, and magical care to grow into valuable allies, providing rare materials for crafting and construction.
If you're truly ambitious, tackle the challenge of raising a dragon to aid your school. Dragons demand specialized students to become caretakers, but in return, they grant your mages the ability to embark on daring quests beyond the school walls—uncovering secrets, gaining unique powers, and shaping the future of your academy.
Bend the arcane to your will. Practitioners of Dark magic animate undead helpers known as Quilted—specialized constructs that gather resources, tend to plants, repair damage to your school, and mine valuable materials.
Make the most of your day by reducing travel time in your ever-growing campus with the power of flight. Strategically place broom racks to make traversal a breeze.
Enhance your students abilities with powerful gear, such as potions, relics, and increasingly powerful wands, each granting distinct magical advantages. Customize their daily schedules and assign teachers to shape their magical growth.
Magic isn’t just for combat—what your students learn and the tools they wield also determine how effectively they contribute to your school’s daily operations. Build a curriculum that fosters the ability to both survive and thrive.
Shape the future of magic by customizing your students' education. Apprenticed students can multiclass to wield a diverse array of spells, or strive towards single discipline mastery to unlock devastating ultimate abilities, powerful enough to face the dangers of the Nexus.
Reality is tenuous in the Nexus, a fractured realm of pure magic deep beneath the school. Your mages will need every advantage to battle powerful enemies, reconstitute its crumbling fragments, and break the curse for good. Train wisely, for only the most skilled mages can withstand the challenges that await beyond the veil.

游戏很有创意,内部分类太少了,人物技能重复可以有随机技能
This game is pretty chill and fun. it has a lot for you to do and it's complexity is just enough to never make you feel bored or too confused. You might need to look stuff up once in a while to make it happen properly to progress but the ingame system for figuring it out is easy to get any info you need without having to look up a youtube video
I'm disappointed that there's not more. Not that I didn't get my money's worth, I just would pay for a DLC for this. I like the idea of a wizardly war facing off against schools that did succumb to the curse.
I don't think I've ever played a game with a worse tutorial. I have no F****** idea how to do any of the things it is asked me to do, and it explains nothing without having to read the walls of text in the ingame help
I'm really impressed by how fun the game is. The school you build just gets complicated over time and the mages advance further. Look at the pictures other made of their schools. You are truly only limited by your imagination how insane your school build can go. The combat becomes fun as your mages become seriously advanced. The idea that you can mix magical specialties is brilliant as well. Your mages suddenly become special to you as they pick up different combination of specialties. Honestly, I couldn't say enough good things about the game. The developers did a great job. I would love a sequel.
After many hours, during which I was patiently hoping for the game to get better, or to achieve some kind of flow, I sadly have to change my review from cautiously good to disappointed. This game doesn't get better the more you figure it out. It gets worse. I'm sad to say that. The game shows so much potential in so many aspects in the beginning. In the end though, it continously frustrates and disappoints. "Complexity for complexity's sake" seems to be the main offender. It gets more complicated the longer you play while never reaching the depths other games in this genre - mainly ONI - do. More importantly, you can't trust this game. Too many design choices are just mind-boggingly bad. After well over 100 hours into the game, I'm giving up. Some examples: Scheduling, a very important part of the game if you want to keep your mages happy, is an overcomplicated mess. You're constantly re-designing, renewing and deleting schedules while totally losing oversight. Not a very fun task if you ask me. Research sequences don't seem to be in the right order. There's too much you simply can't do at first because of research barriers, and while I get the reasoning behind that, it rarely feels organic or earned when you finally get there. If you haven't researched certain higher tiers and try to nurse your dragon to adulthood, you'll get severly punished for the rest of the game without a chance to reverse your mistakes (not entirely sure about that, actually. But I don't trust the game anymore). The priority system needs constant work. New trials for the initiates need constant work while often being repetitive. And so on. You won't get better or develop some sense of achievement the longer you play. You just get more of everything, with challenges that never really change. More toons, more problems, more resources, more schedules, more rooms. And, everything demands your attention constantly, or else. In ONI, you figure out some systems or rules that seem to work, and are actually allowed to let them simmer for a bit while facing new challenges. This is not possible in MoM. Found a good schedule for your initiates? Here, have a problem that makes everything obsolete. Built some rooms and figured out a good layout for your school? Yeah, you'll need to tear it all down some hours later because it just doesn't fit in with the new rooms you'll be able to build now. It really gets tiresome at some point. I don't even want to see the endgame anymore. It really has become too much of a drag.
