About
The gory thrills of giallo, the suspense of slashers, and the otherworldly charm of 70s and 80s sci-fi.
We're thrilled to bring you a chilling adventure that blends cinematic horror with the nostalgic vibes of '90s 16-bit games.
After waking from the nightmare and answering the mysterious phone call, Sarah can unlock manual saving by interacting with the cigarette pack in the kitchen.
How to use it: In your inventory, drag the cigarette onto the lighter to bring up the save menu.

Midnight Special is a point-and-click survival horror experience that echoes the spirit of '90s classics like Clock Tower and Resident Evil. Set in the late '80s at Boyd Manor, you step into the shoes of Sarah, a babysitter tasked with watching over Jon and Ellie Boyd for the night.
What begins as an ordinary evening takes a sinister turn.
The power goes out, plunging the house into pitch-black darkness. With each step, reality twists into something far more disturbing.
Bizarre phone calls, a deranged stalker perhaps?
Unpleasant odors seeping up from the floorboards.
Objects moving on their own as if possessed.
A life-sized plastic dinosaur that seems... alive.
Has Sarah lost her mind? Or has something far more sinister taken root?

BUYER BEWARE, Developer is a scammer saying the game is a full release that is a 4-5 hour at most amount of content with Objectives that go nowhere, etc. The game really exists to have partial chopped up content so the developer can sell the content The game is buggy to all hell which in and of itself would lead me to giving it a bad review. However, it's not even that. It feels extremely unfinished. Tasks that seem impossible to resolve, the gameplay loop that seems actually doable in this game is so short it simply does not justify it's price tag. When you "finish" the short sequence of currently functional puzzles it says thanks for playing and next stop the cul de sac. This game is an asbsolute mess and frankly I'd call it a scam as it is not a full release. Also important to note, the developer will attempt to ban you if you point out the issues with this game on the discussion board. IF the developer had been truly honest about it's content, about the Objectives you can't even finish and how incredibly short the game is then I would have at least understood. I wouldn't have bought the game, but I would have least have felt like they were being honest. As it is the game is simply not worth it's full price. The developer attempted to reply with deceptive comments about the actual content in the game. "Yes, the game has bugs, and it is constantly being updated and improved based on player feedback. As stated multiple times in replies to your comments on the community forum, you were given explanations as to why certain aspects of the game currently fall short, yet you refused to stop. When I politely asked you to stop spamming the posts, you responded" The dev is flat out lying. I posted four times to the board. Once in a reply to someone else's thread. Once in making my own topic and twice replying in that thread. ""The game was deceptive in its content, buggy, and not worth even its current reduced price tag. And I'll be happy to let others know that.". -As stated in the review, there is about four-five hours of content max and it abruptly ends in a random room with a mention of another game the developer wants to waste another 20$ getting out of people for a buggy, extremely short mess. "However, the so-called incomplete objectives are only visible at the very end of the game, around the 10-hour mark. These objectives are tied to free DLC content that has not yet been released." -Here the dev is flat out lying. The objectives included a spider monster and removing cobwebs from rooms, which is not able to be finished or even effectively started as you never get anything to remove said cobwebs or any way to finish that objective. That and at least two more objectives that were impossible to actual finish as the game ends are obtained quite a while BEFORE the ending. There is no objectives among them you get at the game. For that matter, there isn't any sort of mysterious end of game objective that pops up after those. Again, the developer is flat out lying.
I want to, and probably *will* love this game, but here's my review based on an hour or so on a Steam Deck playing with a controller (couldn't get mouse/keyboard to work). For context: I've been playing these kind of games since the literal 1980s..... Controls are absolutely terrible and frustrating - right stick cursor moves way too fast. The UI is frustrating and clunky. Gameplay messages about objectives appear for far too short a time. The text that allows you to enter / exit rooms is chopped off by the edge of the screen so you can't read it. Eg something "The Children's Room" will appear as something like "e Children's Room" if it's at the left of the screen. Inventory use is confusing and frustrating - there's no tutorial. Text overlapping on screen from different dialogues looks messy. In early game there are several "You can't do that yet" type messages - These are a lot more frustrating than something like "Nothing Happens". - let the gamer reach the conclusion "maybe later" Objectives - no visual difference on the list of objectives between complete and uncompleted objectivess and no way to filter them. No tutorial on how to differentiate Look / Use controls. And the UI, by default, will by default show "Inspect Item X" even though more than one option is possible. Unfortunately as it stands I wouldn't recommend this game as even though I love the content itself - the wonderful and atmospheric graphics, animation, music and sound design. It's also sick and creepy as ♥♥♥♥ in exactly the ways you would want it to be. I've found playing it, so far, an experience in frustration. I'll look forward to further development of the game to resolve all of these issues.
クロックタワーライクなのはいいのだが謎解きが納得できない物が多いうえに翻訳が直訳すぎてイマイチすっと内容が入ってこない。
This game is a trainwreck. The amount of glitches can give Todd Howard run for his money, everything you can imagine, from graphical glitches(items being highlited in the inventory despite not being selected), to actual soft locks(putting salt ring in the red door room because stone bride doesn't follow you here). Inventory is a mess, all documents are stored in it together with actual usable items, some puzzles are absurd, like having to light a candle to burn down spider web instead of using your lighter directly. I wish developer to finish the game and turn it into something good, but as it is now, it is not worth paying for.
Very "guess the number" puzzle design and its just not very interesting in general.
I just finished this game after playing for roughly about 6 hours. The beginning felt like it had a lot of promise that was put into it and I thought it would be genuinely enjoyable. After you take care of the kids that when the game loses all respect from me. The controls didn't make sense for a good while. I missed a lot of details from the environment and flavor text since the game didn't describe that the action shown on an item or interact able came be both touched and looked at, compared to most games of the same genre where they tell you explicitly what you can do with things. The files tab didn't have a lot of the information that the game kept telling me that I had collected. There was a lot of times where I thought I got some new information about something but there wasn't anything new despite the screen showing that I can look further into that tab. The objectives felt very half assed and useless on that same regard. Most of them I never ended up finishing nor did I understand what they wanted me to do with them. For most games of this type having an objective window that lines out what you are supposed to would give you a hint, such as putting a fuse into the fuse box or referencing the note that talks about it in the objective, this game does not have that. The endings is another problem I have. The main objective of the game is to find the children that we are tasked to babysit but that never happens, I feel like the kids became a back burner idea by the time we meet the t-rex, which is its own can of worms, and becomes a sort of grab bag of horror. Its not scary or suspenful, I didn't have any monster or horror encounters until the end of the game where it becomes a knock off doom simulator and we kill the main antagonist, who makes no sense by the time we run into him. Overall I give the game a 3/10. The characters felt very inconsistent on who was being introduced or who's who, the gameplay is bare bones at best, the inventory is it's own creature, and the horror elements of this horror game were not there at all. I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you can get it for below 8 bucks and even then that's a stretch.
Reminiscent of Clock Tower, but plays more like a Point-and-click Adventure Game
I'll be upfront: while I like a lot of what this game does, one of the MOST FRUSTRATING is how it doesn't fully explain a lot of the mechanics or how to play (aside from the basic controls). This review will have some spoilers, so be warned. Some of the mechanics that I had to guess at: I had no idea where, or how, to save (I found out reading a guide) and then guess what? I HAD TO READ A JAPANESE GUIDE to figure out how to save ANYWHERE.
I thought you could only save at the Hi-Fi stereo ...nope, the cigarettes you get are one-time saves anywhere. Click them, then click the lighter
. One item
Tina the doll
acts as a hint system in the game. Nothing tells you this whatsoever, and even grabbing the item isn't required. There's a lot of hunting for the right spot to click on things
I had no idea that I could interact with Bob's torso, instead of his head
. The Mawie mini-game has ZERO instructions. At the very least there should be a single screen explaining things.
I played it 10 times in a row before I realized I could eat the bees after getting the steak item
. Another annoying thing and caused me to miss a LOT of areas in my first bit of playing is when you walk near a door that's on the fourth wall, it fades into view, and when you walk away from it, it fades away (out of sight completely). The problem? You have to be REALLY close to the door for it to show up. I ran from one side of a hall to the other missing several doors that way. Only found out there were rooms because of a guide. Most games like this have them at a low opacity until you get close, but never invisible. Also, there are several videos and guides out as walkthroughs that are now inaccurate, because the game has changed item placement so they're not reliable anymore, sadly (and a great source of frustration for me :P) So with all that I must hate the game? Actually...no. It's frustrating as hell, sure, but there's a certain charm here. One I really enjoy. Plus, the pixel art is absolutely fantastic, as are the animations. It's really top-tier stuff, and one of the main reasons I'm actually going to recommend the game. The story is also interesting and dark, and something I personally really am enjoying the hell out of. I just wish it was easier to find my way through the game without having to rely on guides that are outdated and cause me even MORE frustration. So yeah, if you enjoy games that have that OG Clock Tower flavor, but also play more like a 'no hand-holding' Sierra title from the early 90s, this one is gonna scratch that itch you didn't even realize you had.
