Game is impossible to run on modern computers/drivers. It's a slow, sluggish mess. Do not buy.
Hate searching for things in real life, love it when I do the same on a screen. Can't explain this phenomenon!
love the game the story and game play is fun and very thought out
I uninstalled because of the stupid coal stacking mini-game. I waited until the "skip" button was ready and clicked it. It did not work and still wanted me to stack the stupid coal. Don't waste time on this one.
I always enjoy HOG games, me and the women play them together, figure out the puzzles and find things in the hidden object scenes. This series holds up pretty good! We finished Family Mysteries 4 on Switch and on Halloween we played this one! We are kind of surprised how much detail they put into the story line, and it actually follows historic events regarding Mark Twains life.
I used to play this game all the time when I was 7 and coming back it is still awesome I give it a 34 pineapples out of 2 berries :)
I can't personally recommend this game due to the sheer amount of bright flashing light effects, esp Tesla's room, and there is a LOT of lightning! If you have light sensitivity, as I do, you may not be able to tolerate it. It was nearly unplayable for me. Also the jump scares were annoying and usually accompanied by more flashing lights. The HoS's are good, plenty of items to find, the clover collectables are in the game too, which I like, for that little extra to look for in each scene. Story is good, music is not irritating. Graphics, while a little dated were fine even on new PC. The hint button is improved in this compared to the earlier 2 games, as in it actually hints where you need to go now. The puzzles were very vague and could have done with actual instructions. Luckily it has a strategy guide included.
Theoretically interesting (Mark Twain's ghost asks you to help him unravel a mystery via time travel, Shakespeare, Faust & ghost boats!) but the puzzles are visually muddier and more obtuse here than in past entries, and there's no real sense of urgency. So a cool-sounding plot is ruined by bad mechanics & visuals.
