About
From Edmund McMillen (The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy) and Tyler Glaiel (Closure, The End Is Nigh) comes a deeply tactical legacy roguelite that asks:

What if you could breed the perfect army of whiskered warriors, then send them on tactical adventures in search of food, money and loads of treasure?
The Cat Loop:
Welcome to Boon County, where each day you’ll assemble a team from your ever-growing house and outfit your cats with class-specific collars (Fighter, Tank, Mage, and many more). Send your mutant feline squad clawing through adventures of turn-based battles that demand careful positioning, wild power combos, and environmental shenanigans.
Combat That Rewards Mastery:
With 1000+ unique abilities (75 per class), 900+ items, and countless environmental interactions, every run throws fresh tactical puzzles at you. There’s real depth here, and endless room for experimenters and optimizers alike.
Breeding Creates Your Future:
Cats that return home carry scars, experience (and sometimes extra heads!) Pass down strange skills and mutations, tinker with your bloodline, tackle genetic quirks, and build ever stranger, more powerful cats for the next adventure.

Epic Scope:
200+ hour main campaign
10+ character classes with 75 unique abilities each
900+ wild items
200+ enemies and bosses
Roguelite progression: never experience the same game twice.
Choices at every turn. Money! Items!! And genes!! All matters.
From Simple to Infinitely Complex:
Mewgenics welcomes you in and then reveals more and more layers over time. Early runs teach the basics, but soon you'll be optimizing breeding chains, discovering unexpected ability combos, and making agonizing strategic choices about whether to keep a cute kitten or give it to one of the many NPCs to upgrade your house. Mewgenics offers you a path to tactical mastery while embracing chaotic emergent gameplay.
Build, experiment, adapt! There’s always a new way to experiment with (and break) the game.

Also: you can pet the cats.

I had nightmares about cats and spiders the first few nights but it goes away eventually. Seriously though, fantastic roguelite with lines and characters I will never forget. Unlocks are awesome and fun. Combos are super satisfying.
This game can be incredibly frustrating sometimes and it feels like it takes forever to get anywhere meaningful. What I started to do was focus on cash runs with disposable cats until I got enough cash to start getting good furniture. Baby kitties go to tink (they were garbage anyway) and just keep plodding along. Eventually I understood the mechanics of the game and started having a lot more fun. Take some time and read the guides on steam. Those helped. So yeah, its a thumbs up for me.
great gameplay, progression, soundtrack... peak
I like this game. This game does not like me. I haven't actually lost a run yet though. The game runs well and I haven't found any bugs. I do have a mod installed to make the annoying "typewriter" NPC voices silent.
Coooooool
I can't stop playing it. HELP.
I love this game, but do be warned that it is not a "true" roguelite, and I would say that it is very similar to something like Darkest Dungeon in this regard. However, like DD, it is still extremely good and will suck away hours of your life. It has a hub area from which you send teams of cats to go on quests, their class chosen by you before the expedition. On these expeditions, you'll fight enemies and gain food, coins, and other loot (armor, weapons, trinkets, consumables) as your cats level up, boosting their stats and allowing them to learn new abilities which you can focus your build around, with lots of cool synergies. It is important to not get too attached to your cats, as they retire after each expedition. The main gimmick of the game is you get to breed them back at the hub area, thus producing new kitties to whom the abilities and (base) stats of their parents may be passed down, as well as any mutations or birth defects (think positive/negative quirks in DD). That's the core meta-progression loop, you quest, you come home, you reproduce, and you quest again. You only have so much control over the genetic lottery, though, but your influence over the odds expands as you progress through the game. There's lots of meta-progression in the hub area, you upgrade your town and its NPCS by doing quests for them, and they'll sell you better stuff, expand your home and its storage, and even unlock new classes for you. One gives you the abilities to see previous hidden info regarding your cats and the factors which influence their breeding, such as sexuality or libido, so you can be more efficient with breeding as you progress and have access to and more adequately understand this information. Where Mewgenics will turn away casual players, but attract those, like myself, who love working hard for meta-progression unlocks or other tokens of progress/completion; the game is extremely grindy. It takes FOREVER to completely max level every NPC, and you can even continue levelling them past the soft max for tiny little bonuses. as for the other meta-progression unlocks, it's basically like in TBO with the completion marks for each class; kill everything as everyone so you can get all the unlocks and 100% the game. It's a lot more repetitive than Isaac, though, as there's 3 other difficulty options you'll unlock, and you'll pretty much have to clear every area using every class on every one of these difficulties. If you want something like Darkest Dungeon where you expand and manage a little town and send out units on expeditions, this game is probably for you. The tactics gameplay is compelling enough by itself, and if you like unlocking stuff and spending hundreds of hours getting completion marks, you'll love this game even more, although it might be a bit too much for most. Even if you don't like DD or never played it or just want a traditional true roguelite experience, the game is still definitely worth trying as, in addition to its great tactics combat, the whole breeding gimmick is fresh and compelling and might have you hooked. Definitely a great game for me, potentially a great game for you.
