About
From Edmund McMillen (The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy) and Tyler Glaiel (Closure, The End Is Nigh) comes a deeply tactical legacy roguelite that asks:
What if you could breed the perfect army of whiskered warriors, then send them on tactical adventures in search of food, money and loads of treasure?
The Cat Loop:
Welcome to Boon County, where each day you’ll assemble a team from your ever-growing house and outfit your cats with class-specific collars (Fighter, Tank, Mage, and many more). Send your mutant feline squad clawing through adventures of turn-based battles that demand careful positioning, wild power combos, and environmental shenanigans.
Combat That Rewards Mastery:
With 1000+ unique abilities (75 per class), 900+ items, and countless environmental interactions, every run throws fresh tactical puzzles at you. There’s real depth here, and endless room for experimenters and optimizers alike.
Breeding Creates Your Future:
Cats that return home carry scars, experience (and sometimes extra heads!) Pass down strange skills and mutations, tinker with your bloodline, tackle genetic quirks, and build ever stranger, more powerful cats for the next adventure.
Epic Scope:
200+ hour main campaign
10+ character classes with 75 unique abilities each
900+ wild items
200+ enemies and bosses
Roguelite progression: never experience the same game twice.
Choices at every turn. Money! Items!! And genes!! All matters.
From Simple to Infinitely Complex:
Mewgenics welcomes you in and then reveals more and more layers over time. Early runs teach the basics, but soon you'll be optimizing breeding chains, discovering unexpected ability combos, and making agonizing strategic choices about whether to keep a cute kitten or give it to one of the many NPCs to upgrade your house. Mewgenics offers you a path to tactical mastery while embracing chaotic emergent gameplay.
Build, experiment, adapt! There’s always a new way to experiment with (and break) the game.
Also: you can pet the cats.

Latest in each market: best RU #37, worst CN #100 · 13 markets collected
US · last 30 days
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Not my thing. Won like multiple times in a row, took a break, got mauled twice in a row. Don't really care for the gameplay at all

alllllllllllllllllllllllrighttt i guess its time to finally do a review so, the game is great, if not with its flaws. the combat system works, the depth on the breeding system is cool, mutations are neat, but naturally it isnt perfect. some of the most glaring issues within the game is that needing to essentially sort your cats every day in different rooms can feel tedious. i personally have reached a point where its mindlessly moving cats around given everything i needed for it to work well enough was achieved in 1.0 speaking of, the update to 1.1 in regards to breeding was a miss to me. i understand wanting to diversify strategies and not wanting to have the game solved, but inbreeding is extremely punishing because of how useless mutations are. as such, one is stuck with either cats with good stats but without the desired abilities, or cats with the desired abilities but no perfect stats (unless one is willing to spend a LOT of time and cats making a four-room breeding machine). i personally went with the latter, but it is frustrating having my whole setup broken because of it. imo high appeal should not bring cats with extra passives: i want to breed down super luck without compromising my stats. even then, i can understand why its done once you have played the chapters several times for several hours the game becomes stale and repetitive. i suppose if you expect it to be replayable it's a huge miss, but it is okay to have games with definite endings. this apparently will be fixed anyway so who gives persuasion device's side quest should be recursive i dont want to play through the whole game again to do another house boss to obtain a different ending and even then, the game is definitely fun. not perfect, but fun. give it a shot, maybe downgrade to 1.0 if you wanna go for mutation strats to override birth defects
This game was a disappointment for me. It is advertised as a turn base strategy game but the strategy aspect is not good enough. Due to randomness the characters are too much of a chaos and it seems impossible to create any strategy. The first few encounters were so easy I would call them lame. Then an enemy came that I had no chance against at all. Examples: I randomly got a very bad fart. It basically killed 2 of my 4 cats. I came to the conclusion that in theory it could have been used to my advantage if I could strategically place my cats. But the order of movement is fixed and the event happens at the beginning of the turn so there is no/little chance to use any strategy. Then after being defeated I would not get a chance to replay the scenario. So I will never know if I could do anything about it or not. In a well designed game you can master the scenarios so you learn the mechanics and you feel satisfaction. Here you will get a completely different set of cats for the next round and you will never know if you were just unlucky or you missed a point. I guess I would have to play several hours to encounter the bad fart again. But I will not. I realized that theoretically I could combine the features of my cats. There was one who could cross the map in one step using its tricks to get close to enemies. The other one could swap position. So in theory I could combine them to get both close to the enemy. First get close with teleport and attack. Then swap with the second cat and also attack. But in reality the order of their movement is fixed and in most cases you can not combine them powerfully. The game may have explicite rules to generate orders but because all stats are random I don't think I could or I wanted to design my team so they can combine their powers. In most strategy games you can decide the order of using your units. This opens up a bunch of combinations. In this game it feels to be on a conveyor belt that you basically have nothing to decide. Just use everything you have and hope for the best. The movement of the cats is too short and you can only move once in your turn. This results in a feeling that you are tied to your place. Then some enemies totally jump around the board meaning that you have no change to plan anything or ever reach within attack range. Having random encounters may be fun if they are not too consequential. Here you may go on an adventure which is painful to set up then you waste your playtime on boring stuff and then after tens of minutes you get a random enemy that kills all your cats. You have to restart the whole adventure to try again. And seemingly the second time the enemy will be different so you will not be able to use anything that you may have learned. For me after the failed adventure the next one was totally lame and easily won. Then comes resource management: you have to feed your cats for which the resources went low too soon. Then the game suggested to go on an adventure to gain food. The set up screen for the adventure is painful. You have to assign roles to your cats which I guess should be done after analysing their stats. Just this assigning process is so painful that I decided to not go onto any third adventure but just refund the game. I did not refund any other games yet but this time I decided to do that. Just to find out that I was already over 2 hours play time. Not that there was enough content for 2 hours. I played about 10 boards of which 9 was so easy I did not need to think at all and on 1 I died and I don't even know if it was my fault or not. It just took so long to realize that it is a painful experience to do the adventures and it does not work as a strategy game.
