A beautiful incredible game, easily my favourite video game of all time Metaphor's narrative is amongst the most incredible to come out of Atlus (at least in my opinion), on par if not better than that of the P5R 3rd semester and P3. The world, stakes, philosophies and more are some of the best I've had the pleasure of playing through, though, I think the best element of narrative are the characters, not a single characters social link was uninteresting, or tiring to sit through, every arcs villain is set up and executed beatifully, Louis being probably my favourite villain in fiction. It's not only the story though, the combat and dungeon design are also amazing parts of this game. Apart from being somwhat grindy on higher difficulties, the archetype class sytem is some of the most incredible class design I've played through, the mixing of skills through inheritance hits the perfect balance of uniqueness across the archetypes while also allowing for a lot of player freedom in builds. The press turn system from SMT makes a return, alongside some elements from the Persona franchise to formulate what I believe to be Atlus' best turn based combat system, highlighting interactions, synergies and setups beautifully. tldr; this game is absolutely incredible and you should buy it, I assure you it is worth your time to play through
ITS SO PEAKKKK! Im ngl i bought it on sale instead of when i first sold my xbox despite having it on xbox originally because i didnt really enjoy it on xbox, however im not too far in (just cleared nordic mines i think they're called, yes i killed the dragon.) and so far im loving it, on xbox i only got to the first full dungeons final boss before i gave it up. but i believe that was more due to me playing it on the xbox then the game itself, ive sincerely enjoyed my time on the pc so far and i hope i continue doing so! now onto the comparisons between this game and personas combat. this games combats alot more difficult but it also feels alot more rewarding. i like that i can mix and match archetypes to whomever so i can have a properly built team! i also like this games "one more" system compared to personas. in personas you'd normally HAVE to take the one more on that character or baton pass, however in here you get your one more and if you hit another weakness after that you have 2 one mores saved up, where at least where im at you only get 3 turns that can be extended into 6 via each turn getting a one more. also like that you can OPT for a one more in exchange for not attacking this turn, so you can plan out your strategy with alot more variety than personas. in terms of the formation system, it frusturated me at first but i think thats because theres either not a tutorial or i somehow skipped it, but once i figured it out i actually again think this is a GREAT way to expand strategy in the game. i dont really know if ive explained this all well but i do genuinely enjoy the game. so far for me a solid 9/10 (ik i glazed its combat system over p5rs but i still love persona 5, gonna do a true completion on PC after finishing this game.) i will add, the game does have very few far and in-between battles so far, but as someone who normally plays the persona games for the story i really haven't minded it at all. but if alot of dialogue and story telling isnt your thing this game PROBABLY wont be for you. ive seen some complaints about graphics in reviews, i kinda had the same issue at first but i just cranked everything to max and it feels palattable now. I may update this if i see what people are talking about with stuff like the dreaded ps2 stairs but so far i havent had this issue. the game is obviously compared to persona alot and well its obvious why, which will turn some away from it because of "well if personas better ill just play that for cheaper" (atleast as of now p5rs cheaper due to summer sale) and while i get that, i believe you SHOULD give this game a chance to show you what its got with its differences. it does take HEAVY inspiration from persona and well made by the same people and published by the same studio ofc it would be. But so far i think its story is genuinely entertaining and has something special to it and it feels like it can go into something on its own persona normally wouldnt be.
Really really good JRPG. Is basically a Persona game with in a medieval fantasy world and in a more serious tone/environment, which I liked quite more, good game.
love this game

I suck at this game
Okay, having wrestled down a rocky start, I'm into the meat of the game. It takes a minute to setup the rules of this weird new universe before it opens up and you can start having fun.
