Metamorfose S is a classically structured 2D action-adventure that wears its inspirations openly while carving out its own identity through ambition and sheer density of systems. Developed by Andre Monteiro, the game places players in the role of Sebastian, a bio-engineered being awakened to hunt down other dangerous creations that have escaped containment. The premise is simple and utilitarian, serving primarily as a narrative framework to justify exploration and combat rather than as a heavily story-driven experience. What unfolds is a methodical journey through a sprawling, interconnected world that steadily expands as new abilities, equipment, and spells are unlocked. At its core, Metamorfose S is firmly rooted in the Metroidvania tradition. Progression is driven by exploration, backtracking, and gradual empowerment, with new areas becoming accessible only after acquiring the right skills or defeating key bosses. The map is extensive and segmented into distinct regions, each with its own enemy types and environmental challenges. Rather than pushing players along a strict linear path, the game encourages curiosity, often rewarding detours with hidden rooms, rare loot, or materials useful for crafting. A completion percentage tied to exploration reinforces this design, subtly motivating players to thoroughly comb the world instead of rushing toward the end. Combat is frequent and forms the backbone of moment-to-moment gameplay. Sebastian can equip different weapons and cast spells, allowing players to shape their preferred approach to encounters. Enemies drop loot and resources, which can then be used to craft or upgrade equipment, adding a light RPG layer to the experience. This system gives progression a tangible feel, as stronger gear directly affects survivability and damage output. Boss fights punctuate the adventure and serve as tests of both preparation and execution, often requiring players to understand enemy patterns and manage positioning carefully. While the overall combat system offers variety, it can sometimes feel rough around the edges, with hit detection and responsiveness not always matching the precision seen in more polished genre standouts. One of the game’s strongest qualities is the sense of scale it achieves despite its indie scope. There is a genuine feeling of embarking on a long journey, with new mechanics, enemies, and areas continually introduced over time. Spells and abilities meaningfully alter how players interact with the world, making revisits to older areas feel purposeful rather than repetitive. The crafting system further deepens engagement by giving players a reason to hunt specific enemies or explore optional zones in search of materials. This layered design helps maintain momentum, especially for players who enjoy incremental improvement and system mastery. Visually, Metamorfose S opts for clarity and function over spectacle. The 2D art style is straightforward, with environments designed to be readable and distinct enough to aid navigation. Enemy designs are varied and convey their roles clearly, even if animation quality is occasionally stiff. The presentation may not be flashy, but it effectively supports the gameplay without becoming distracting. The soundtrack complements exploration well, providing atmospheric backing that enhances immersion without dominating attention, and it helps unify the different regions into a cohesive world. Despite its strengths, the game’s limitations are noticeable. Balance can feel uneven, particularly in the midgame, where difficulty spikes may catch unprepared players off guard. Some systems are introduced with minimal explanation, relying on experimentation or trial and error to fully understand their impact. For some, this lack of polish and onboarding may be frustrating, while others may appreciate the old-school sensibility that expects players to learn through experience. These rough edges give the game a distinctly indie feel, one that reflects passion and ambition more than refinement. Ultimately, Metamorfose S is a game that succeeds through persistence and depth rather than elegance. It offers a substantial adventure filled with exploration, progression, and customization, rewarding players who enjoy methodical gameplay and gradual mastery. While it may not rival the genre’s most refined entries in terms of combat fluidity or presentation, it delivers a solid and content-rich experience that respects the traditions of Metroidvania design. For players seeking a lengthy, systems-driven 2D adventure that values exploration and player commitment, Metamorfose S stands as a commendable and earnest indie effort. Rating: 7/10

jogo legalzinho...
Hey, this isn't half bad. It plays like an old Flash game, pretty simple metroidvania setup, etc. Not terrible for 5 bucks, even better if you get it on sale (like right now it's 90% off so 0.49 USD lol). No it's not gonna win any sort of awards, but it's well worth sinking a couple of hours in for a relatively chill metroidvania experience. Oh and the simple "flash game" style is a bit nostalgic ngl.
