Nice indie-retro-game with nice pixel art and unique design of the game cards. The music is amazing—finest metal that gets more intense with each stronger enemy. As it is, the game is straightforward and fun, perfect for killing time. Would buy again.
This has some of the best heavy metal music I've ever heard. You will enjoy it. Now for such a small game, there is a surprisingly large amount of depth to it. Most strategies feel strong to play and there is a 4 times speed so you can quickly speed through the early game to build the deck you want to play. The only real gripe with the game is a lack of save for endless mode and no card/ opponent bestiary yet but these are being worked on. The game is cheaper than a coffee and will keep you having fun for quite a while. Give it a shot, you can always refund the game if it doesn't interest you.
A Card Game KING review
It's a really fun concept of a turn-based, card-based, tower defense hybrid where your "towers" (they are units you can't control) actually walk forward towards your enemy. This matters a lot because your long ranged units may end up getting in front if your front line breaks. There are also some light combos in the game where some units support others so positioning becomes even more important. The card aspect comes into play from the fact that all of your units are in your deck and you can only play those that you draw in that turn, while you can add more over time. Energy is saved between turns so you can save up until you draw that big strong unit or make many smaller towers each turn. When you end your turn both enemies and ally units move towards each other and if enemies move past your defenses too many times it's game over. It's a fun, cheap game, however, be aware that it doesn't have a lot of content. There are only 4-5 enemy enemy types and a single boss. There is a fair amount of towers, but synergies are also limited. After 1h, you will have seen everything there is to the game although for people looking for bigger a challenge there is an endless mode.
The positive
+ Interesting twist on a tower defense game with cards. + Come cool soundtracks.
The neutral
* Can't view cards left in your deck which limits planning a bit.
The negative
- Not much replayability. You will have seen everything in the first hour. - Low enemy variety, including only one boss.
Conclusion:
Small, turn-based, tower defense and card-game hybrid with some interesting ideas, but very short. Recommended. i am on two mind about this... between refunding or not... i beat the game in 30 minute on the first run... the mage legendary killed the boss as he arrived with the instant kill spell... kinda confused now... is it a 30 minute game? otherwise i loved everything else
Really fun game. I think this has a lot of potential and is already worth the price. All it needs is more. More of everything to really push it from a fun game to something everyone should notice.
good game but needs meta progression + for godot
It's definitely a neat concept, I just wish it were more realized. The pixel art is great, and the game play is fluid. However there isn't much more to it that I can see. I would certainly have paid more if the game were bigger, but as it is it's worth a try for those interested in defense games.
Lovely litte game, hope they add a bit more content but already wasted 30h for 5 euros.. That is a win for me. You can actually break the game with the buffs which is also fun :-D
Fun and pretty original mechanics / combination of mechanics
This game could be fun, but really, I only got about 2 hours for $5 bucks. I prefer $1 per hour. I know my review time says 11 hours, but I afk'd overnight. The game has potential...maybe if there were starting builds and more variety, it'd be worth the $5
