Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 395.5/day in the week to Jul 15 → 5.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

It's not just a Video game, it's a Hideo game. A cinematic, cold-war era political spy thriller set in the Metal Gear universe. Despite being the first event on the canon timeline, I would strongly recommend playing MGS1 and MGS2 before this one, because
some characters from those games appear here and are written with the expectation that the player is already somewhat familiar with them.
This game allows for a early version of the modern 3rd person camera controls. This makes it much easier to see what's around you. And that becomes very critical as this game has a heavy emphasis on the new "survival" mechanic, where you mostly sneak around in forests, hunt animals for food and treat your wounds. The game also introduces a new Camo system which encourages you to blend in with the environment as much as possible by wearing the right suit at the right places. The game simply has lot of things to find, collect and see. Writing is once again, top-notch, with new memorable cast of characters introduced. Many of whom will go on to become iconic in Metal gear lore. The music and the character moments are phenomenal as ever and this is one of the most emotional stories of the series and many consider this their favorite. PROTIPS: - Use the Codec at every opportunity. Spam conversations until you've played them all. Nearly half of this game's amazing storytelling and brilliant character moments comes from the codecs. - There is no pausing cutscenes or codecs. If you accidentally press a button during them, you may skip them forever until you reload! So be careful. You really want to be playing the game for the cutscenes and the codecs. - Game can only save your data on area change or some major cutscene events. So only bother manually saving after you change areas. - Use first-person view often to look around and when shooting to have an easier time. For best experience, play this AFTER MGS1/MGS2 and before MGS4. While a modern remake exists which is extremely faithful to this game (almost too faithful), this still remains the Director's cut edition that Kojima envisioned, with his choice of color grading and camera angles unique to this game. And if you plan to play MGS4, you may be better off going into it from this game than delta which may be feel like a visual downgrade. Regardless of what version you end up playing, the experience will be like no other.
This was the game that got me into the series back when I was 18, over the past two decades I've played this game time and time again. This is the Subsistence Version, but it lacks the bonus disc that has the secret Theater stuff. That said, it's damn good, it's a classic, and there's a reason why it was remade.
Brings back the best memories!!
