There is a function to pet the Cat without a need to aware the allergy: 10/10 Joke aside, there is a little bit performance issue on my PC (i5-6400 + GT1050ti). I didn't try on my laptop which spec is far higher yet, but considering what I saw in the game, the problem might cause by my CPU. (I will edited the review later after I try on another machine) Also, the in-game story background kinda relate to my country situation right now.
The mesmer experience thus far. I started a strike, held a public speech, rode a hog through town. Acquired a wedding ring for a worker. Broke in to a house and got caught by the police, after curfew when I collided with a wall. Then I ended up horsed. Mesmer is an immersive experience werehere I am trying to bring about the revolution. Through helping people, by any means, be it stealing, sabotage, staging riots, blackmailing and bribing the police. But everything takes time and I'm always on the clock. Can be a bit frustrating at times, since I have to start over every time I loose, in order to optimise my run and unfurl more of the mystery, while working towards a solution.
Mesmer can let you pet all of the cats and I loved this game for it! I like the art direction, the idea of getting a reputation to achieve a goal, favoriting what class from the society to help you deal with the king and the police, first time I played a game like this, and I wish it to grow so more people can know about it. For it I have some suggestions from what I have gathered in my hours playing it: - The police, when I was doing night missions I felt there is a need to show in the minimap the police circling the area around so you can do your best to avoid it, maybe not showing all of them, just the ones you see from your sight, it can be really annoying not knowing where to go and sometimes they will be just in the corner of the screen and I didn't see it, so adding it to the mini-map would be nice! - Quick Saving/ Checkpoint/ Save game For this maybe it is a way I normally play video games, being too safe, so I have the need to constantly quick save the games, if that breaks the immersion from the Mesmer game style then, adding checkpoints would help, another thing is saving the game when I can't really wait for the next day if I had to leave my computer or even close it, and be able to come back later and keep playing from where I left it! :D -Skip Scenes I died, well got a horse head and I was alright doing another run, but it bothered me not being able to skip the cutscene from the Jessica Airheart getting the same fate, I wish that somehow would be able to get around it faster? If there are more cut scenes in the game, that would be great to be able and skip it. -Grappling hook So I got this Item and then it took a really long time for me took figured it out because completely unknow how to use the items you get, the lockpick was easy but not this one, maybe a tutorial or something? A quick tip on how to use it if it's the first time purchasing the item. Anyway that is all I have to give and hopefully, this will help you guys, thank you for this game I plan on to keep trying to get the hang of it I'm sorry if I get any typos or grammar errors, just tring my best to reach out! Thank you!
PRO - A very unique concept - The music is amazing - Interesting story and characters - Visually beautiful CON - The game start can be a bit overwhelming - The restarting can be a little bit frustrating - Some visual bugs here and there The game is a Revolutions sim (?) in which you are tasked to take up the mantle of a revolutionary and carry on the revolution in her stead. The game revolves around tasks, holding speeches and learning more about the world and colorful characters The mechanics itself are easy to understand, find ways to influence people to do your bidding and increase your influence in Mesmer. The gameplay are interesting enough, but the real shinning star here are the story, characters and the world, all beautifully crafted and presented. Over all, Rain Games continue their role of creating both artistically and game design unique games, I've played all of their previous games. If you either are a fan of the Teslagrad universe, Rain Games, or just interesting games this is sure pick-up for you. Oh, and you can pet the cats.
An amazing concept spiced with some great art-style and music! Definitely worth checking out! *dont forget to pat the cats*
I have reviewed this game as a positive overall because I like what I have played so far. It is a bit buggy however, currently I have a black screen that will not resolve when I try to continue my game. Luckily, I have manually kept a save so I won't lose my entire playthrough, but it is frustrating. Occasionally when I open the game, the map is pinned open and won't minimise. My character has been stuck on a couple of staircases. I also feel like maps have had labels on since maps were a thing, so labelling even just the districts surely cannot destroy the immersion? As to the game itself, it took me three hours to get past Day 3 and then once I got the hang of it, I got to Day 11! I know that the lack of tutorial is a big part of the game but I nearly rage-quit more than once, and was soothed by my other half into continuing as I am very curious about the story. It is an interesting story and cool political structure/debate mechanic (in addition, I am fond of fetch quests). The B&E took me a little while to get the hang of but I love the old-PC game style description of the what happens inside! Despite the buggy-ness of the game I suspect I will try it again on Monday so it definitely has caught my attention. If I am feeling motivated, I might write a mini-tutorial of the little that I have learned on my off days next week. I think it might need a bit of sprucing up but I really like the concept and mechanic, so overall positive! Thanks to my brother for gifting it to me!
Gameplay is quite good but there are a lot of bug. Especially, the game doesn't load to the next day
An delightful unique little experience, basically its an adventure with an very open ended nature. It's not procedually generated, everything has its place and as such the time managing aspect stays motivating even if you fail to spark the revolution during your first runs. The city has a lot to offer and while the quests might be very fetchy, they tell interesting stories and are not trivial in a sense that everything is tied to time as a ressource, so even trivial quests might be not that trivial if you know that you have a lot of time to spend for them. Unfortunelately the game is very buggy, merely by opening the menu in different cutscenes. I had to restart it several times during my almost 7 hours of playtime. I'm also not that fond of the sneaking at night, simply because there are no ways to distract guards, you are at the mercy of their random route, which can become very annoying if you have to carry a crate or lockpick at night. But asides from these complaints the game felt very unique, basically it's a large sandbox and I was really curious to get accustomed with the city, sometimes in buildings the game even turns into a text adventures. Also I truly value that the game saves automatically for every passing hour, if that wouldn't be the case and it would rather feature manual quicksaves it pretty much would have ruined the game, but with the automatic saves the game is much more tense it would be boring being able to reload after every failed roll it would've been way too tempting, Rain Games definitely made the right decision, not every game benefits from manual quicksaves. So it's an experience I can recommend, simply because its so fresh and unlike anything else. I feel not that much of an urge to return to it once I managed to win the game and overthrow the king, but I remember the time getting accustomed to the game very fondly it feels like one of these old games as a kid when you really had to find out a lot of things on your own, when not everything makes sense from the get go, this game basically accomplished to invoke that sentiment, where so many more polished games rather failed.
