"MeiQi 2022" is a fairly basic Unreal asset flipped adventure game, one of many hundreds, if not thousands of these glutting Steam. The "developer" paid for/pirated some Unreal assets, namely a basic apartment and a couple of other objects, arranged them haphazardly in a first person adventure game template, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. We know for sure that this is an asset flip from the sheer number of times the Chinese "developer" of this shovelware has launched this game onto Steam, with the only difference being the asset pack that's been combined with the template. The template itself is a very basic first person adventure/scavenger hunt. There's a picture of a head in the top right corner, and you wander around collecting a bunch of asset flipped objects which increase the score until you're done. There's also a tally menu that shows how many of the objects you've found, with a bunch of "?"'s for the missing ones. I'm not making it up when I say this has been asset flipped by this developer a lot. Here's a list of the asset flips of this asset from this asset flipper that I've found so far:

Abnormal1999:The Compass and the Sand with some surreal/fantasy assets
Below the Surface:Assassin's Prison with some generic basement assets
Below the Surface:Uncovering the Truth in the Sewers with a sewer asset pack
Hundreds of Mysteries:Wendy's Home2 with an apartment building interior asset pack
MeiQi 2019 with apartment building and other urban assets
MeiQi 2020 with some generic urban assets
MeiQi 2021 with rural China assets
MeiQi 2022 with a variety of island/interior building assets
MeiQi 2023 with desert and rocket launch assets
MeiQi Mystery: Yuer Hutong with a bunch of Chinese themed asset packs
MeiQi:Phoenix and the Chamber of Secrets with eastern temple assets (and JK Rowling gonna sue!)
MeiQi:Story with a selection of forest and industrial asset packs
The Moment of Memory with a luxury house asset
The Mystery of Cargo Ship 1769 with cargo ship assets
These are all reskins and rehashes of the same game! You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. MeiQi 2022 has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is "壹生100%", completing a level, trivial to achieve, but less than 9 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. So, should you buy this asset flip? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? MeiQi 2022 has the laughable, eye-watering price of around $8 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer levels a number of insults and personal attacks in breach of Valve community guidelines. The developer makes the rather serious claim that my review is inaccurate/contains information which isn't factually evident. But this simply isn't true... the facts of my review can easily be verified with just a glance at this asset flip. We know that if there was any glaring inaccuracy in my review the developer would have jumped on them and pointed them out right away... but they can't even cite one single example. Because they know my review is accurate. They just don't like being presented with the facts. The developer LIES and claims they are the sole developer... but they also tacitly admit that they stole assets from real developers and claimed them as their own. So they're not the only developer, are they? But they choose to lie and mislead gamers. This is a little disturbing as the developer indicates they started stalking me and feverishly reading through my reviews... either just obsession with me on their part, or desperation to try find something in one of my other reviews that would somehow change the objectively terrible quality of this failed "game". Whatever their motivation, creeping on reviewers like this is not okay. The "developer" argues that I review a lot of games, therefore this game review isn't valid or truthful. Huh. If I changed all my other reviews to positive, would the graphics and gameplay of this crap game suddenly improve? No. The developer seeks any possible angle to throw shade at me personally to discredit my review. You can see what they are trying to do. If this was the only review I have ever written, would that change any of the properties of this game or alter the facts contained in my review? Of course not. My reviews for other games have no bearing on the dismal quality of this asset flip. The developer brazenly admits they're plagiarising... they took someone else's assets, and did not credit them. Gamers are not supposed to "guess" if a developer didn't actually create the assets in their game. When developers do this, they position themselves as having their name against those assets... it's 100% plagiarism. If they used someone else's work in a Hollywood movie, they'd be sued into the ground and never work in the industry again. They're tacitly telling gamers because this is their game, the assets are also theirs. We also know that this is deliberate. It's easy to include a simple credits page. Why would the developer deliberately choose not to do this, if not to hide the true origin of the game assets from gamers? Claiming the work of others as your own, failing to credit the work of others, is highly unethical, and the developer here now openly admits to it Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
