If you want a chill game to sometimes let your friends pop into -- give this a shot. As far as Survival games go, Medieval Dynasty is "entry level". It's not a harsh survival thing like Banished. As far as City Builder games go, Medieval Dynasty scratches an itch that you can't find in almost any other game on the market right now. The devs had a vision for this game, and have largely seen it through with nearly 5 years of content and quality of life updates (and they're not done). At this point, they've pushed the limits of the game engine about as far as it can go. One of the very few medieval-themed games that has children running around. Something satisfying about building your village, and after several years, you've got a few little buddies scampering around. Think about that, about how almost no *families* exist in Medieval games. It helps that you can't attack villagers, like you can in KCD:2. That's why KCD:2 doesn't have children. Their latest Full Stock update is a pretty big deal. It's "just" cosmetic updates for the most part, but they added in workstations that villagers can actually use. So now you can hang up clotheslines with some nearby laundry stations, and see your villagers using them. It matters. It adds to the busy feeling around the village. The many production buildings can be automated *enough* that the only involvement you have is the occasional "topping off", so it's not overwhelming -- like I find myself smithing tools for the villagers, while letting my Smithy villagers just make iron knives to sell. The most complicated part is probably managing the crop field assignments... but once you've got the assignments done the first time, you normally never need to touch it again. This might be the only game where you're watching YouTube videos to see how other players have decorated a video game village. And you know what... there are much worse ways to spend your time on YouTube than being artistically-inspired lol. The devs added bandits into the game, but not bandit *raids*. I honestly like that the devs added in villager-used workstations instead of bandit raids. In almost every other city builder, the "city building" part is secondary to the meta game of "Get this stuff built before the bandit raids come", like Farthest Frontier. The development becomes centered around that eventual combat, instead of being centered around the "builder" part. Like I said, this game has a vision and has largely stuck to it for 5 years. That's why it maintains a loyal player base.
Get those villagers automated until king's challenges are no issue. Also, raising the build quantity to 300% got me to a happy balance.
Amazing

If you want a relaxing Medieval village-builder/management game then this is perfect! I can't count how many new saves I've started just to try a new village in a new location on the two maps. It gets a bit grindy as you go, but I enjoy that and love getting to the point where most of my time is spent on decoration and raising my child.
Great game!
