Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 10.56/day in the week to Aug 4 → 9.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

You used to be able to modify your mech the way you like it. This one forces your slots for your weapons where they want you to put it making your mech really crappy. Instead of balancing the game, They reduced how good your mechs are. Mech Warrior 2, 3 and 4 were all better than this. If you wanted you could put a full missile load out, or you could put all lasers, or just AC 10s and ammo. They could have set it up like that for smart users to set their mechs up, but these days they have to dumb everything down for all the dumb people who can't figure out how to set things up. So the rest of us just have to put up with dumb down lame games. I don't know, maybe if your newer to Mech Warrior and you're not on an old hand like myself, you might like it fine, but with them locking in your modifications to your Mech Just rips the fun right out of it for me. Not to mention there's some weird things going on with the graphics and they look like crap. I don't know where that's coming from, but I have an ASUS nVidia 1080TI. The graphics should be looking really good.

Profoundly janky; nothing about this game is crisp or inspired. The controls feel gross, the UI is ugly & leaves out essential information, the amount of damage you deal & receive is mysterious, equipment refitting is restrictive to the point of being superfluous, hitboxes on terrain & enemy mechs are really weird, NPC AI is dumb & identical across all allies & enemies, the procedurally-generated landscapes are paradoxically all very similar, and so on. This is not a complete list. You might enjoy Mechwarrior 5 if A) you've been playing battletech/mechwarrior games for years and already understand the core concept, and B) you are willing to spend 6 to 10 hours modding the game into a more pleasant experience (plus an additional 3 hours re-modding every time a patch or DLC is released). Otherwise, stay away.
The first flaw you are going to notice if you are playing multiplayer is that the compass does not have bearing indicators. Forget coordinated teamwork without mods. This game doesn't have it. Also, the host is the only one who will benefit from the story. Your other players will not. You have to stream your game somewhere so your lancemates will know what is going on. They also cannot purchase their own equipment or have any sense of ownership over their mechs. Speaking of mechs, canonically, a leopard class dropship holds four. But in this game, you can pack them in the cold storage freezer or strap like 20 to the hull or something. I imagine that there is a large net that is attached to the hull that you just leave in orbit when on operations, filled to the brim with mechs and parts that you chose not to use. It's a stupid complaint, but it IS an indicator for the kind of lip service that this game plays to battletech. It is a battletech game, but it's not a lore accurate game. It doesn't even try to be. There are all kinds of things added in here that shouldn't be in here. Also, the characters are all meatheads. Their dialogue is terrible. The situation surrounding the dialog is terrible. Their dialog, which will not end as you are desperately trying to get your lance to safety, will literally prevent you from extracting while under enemy fire. Their terrible tyrannical yapping will destroy you at least once. I am not kidding. The MC is not customizable and the voice actor is straining hard to channel a roided out gymbro who has fried his brain on kratom. There must be a masculinity crisis in the voice acting world in this day and age, or maybe there is in 3025, because this dude is trying really really hard to sound like a real-man badass nascar supremus type guy. Like a temu macho-man randy savage without the leopard print and neon, nothing left but beef jerky man-ness. If that isn't the kind of character that you want to play, tough, this dude is the man. So if you don't like that guy, you will probably wander around for a while, trying to avoid the main story quests, to slam some slightly non-canonical mechs into buildings with your friends, wishing you could tell them where they were getting shot from while doing it. What this game is -really- good at is lulling you and your lance mates to sleep with the repetition involved. If you need a game that will absolutely make everyone sleepy after a few hours of mech fighting, this is your pick. I know this game has really positive reviews. Most of those people are tech savvy and install mods. Many of them don't have friends and are playing solo, so they are seeing a different perspective. Flaws like the compass are easily fixed via mods or by playing solo and not needing to communicate with pesky companion people who need such directions. So, if you don't mind modding the game, and making sure that everyone you are playing with has the same mod list installed, and you don't mind the exercise in coordinated communication that such a requirement will put you through, then you can fix every problem I have mentioned, except the dropship of holding. Is it a good game? I don't know. I actually enjoyed Mechwarrior 1 more than this and it had like 3 whole pixels on the screen at any given time on a monitor emitting radiation that probably prematurely gave me a cataract. There was more narrative in that very first entry into the franchise. I'm also a little miffed that they haven't really fixed some of these things, and instead are crutching on mods. They also ignored their other game (MWO) for years to make this one, only to kind of go back to MWO later and try to save it (it was too late). This game feels unfinished to me, and I don't think it ever will be finished. I think it just is what it is. Any further additions to it, like the clan expansions they have added, just feel like a pithy attempt to sell more copies to people who are not interested in the base game while providing an experience that would have been better as a different type of game altogether. It is better than no battletech, but I'm not sure it's good battletech. I certainly know that I have experienced both better and worse battletech stories in other products, but this entry should have been a phenomenal resurgence aimed at a whole new generation of fans. Instead, it feels old and tired. It will make you feel old and tired. It will make you want a nap. Sometimes that is a good thing. Sometimes not.
Definitive Weiterempfehlung!
I'm sure it would be fun with a group of 4 going through the campaign. But... The companion NPC AI is terrible, the mission/campaign difficulty is absurd, the story is poor. They added custom difficulty settings and an instant-action mode for a reason.
It's a bit of a trope story wise. "Your old man would be proud of you" should hit hard hours after you get him killed and all. The unfortunate part for this game is that I played MechWarrior Clans first, and I can feel the improvements in the first 30 seconds MechWarrior Mercs. It's just not as intuitive and that takes a lot of the fun out. I know Clans is newer, but my MechWarrior muscle memory just can't take it.
