Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 10.56/day in the week to Aug 4 → 9.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Had a lot of fun playing MechWarrior 5 played through both the campaign and career option. I really had fun playing through it especially with all the dlc which adds a ton of extra story based missions improving the game immensely. The main story isn't anything to rave on about, it's kinda on the side of this game anyways. The mech fighting is pretty fun, there is a variety of weaponary and mech's making each mission a different possibility based on what you have decided to deploy with. The battles can get intense with tanks and helicopters flying overhead and mech's firing at you, really feels like a warzone at some points. The variety in missions is alright with defending missions, assassination mission and warzones to just name a few. The maps can be massive which can be annoying expecially if you are using a heavy or assault class mech which move slowly. Overall I can't complain much about this game it is a pretty solid entry in the series. Recommend getting if you enjoy mech fighting games or are just a fan of the BattleTech universe!

Severely lacking polish ... 5 years after release. get this game if you genuinely *need* to play a mech game. I desperately want to like this game but it's just annoying to play. Between crashes or bugs or softlocks or the painfully stupid AI... I want to be the one in my squad piloting the heavy duty, badass mech but I can't because my teammates will practically explode if I don't hand over the big guns to them. Your squadmates don't meaningfully back you up autonomously they pretty much just follow you around (you can't change the formation). there's a similar dynamic to how GTA Online corners the "drive around and be a criminal online" gameplay loop and there's not a lot of games that can do better OR how the elder scrolls games corner the "pretend to be an adventurer in a sort of sandboxy way" gameplay loop and once again there's not a lot of games that do it better-- this game corners the mech-as-a-tank gameplay loop in the gaming market and there's unfortunately not a lot of games that do it better right now. However, I heard Drop Command might give MW5 a run for its money. There's more i could say about this game but is it really worth the effort..?
I thought I was craving for some Gundam-esque type of aesthetic when looking for a mecha game. Turns out the one I've been craving for is this Mechawarrior game. I have never known I would have to consider what type of armament to bring and what mech to use. Should I go with heavy or focus on mobility? They are all viable, it just takes a lot of skill to get used to movement and as well as aiming for that dang Pilot cockpit. I played the campaign and you can tell that the developers didn't really put much effort on actual human models or interaction. They just had this character Spears, clip through the command table and just gave it some weird lights and just called it "hologram" haha. It's funny to see that, so you know that all their efforts went to pure mech battle and carnage, and I am all up for it. Charging the enemy to bring it to a fisticuff mecha battle will always end with the player losing, because AI mechs got hands and they'll punch your ♥♥♥♥♥ ass up to kingdom come. Also in campaign and career mode is quite fun due to needing to manage fixing your mech, trying to balance out how much heat sink you can fit in your mech before you reach maximum Tonnage. Money is a fleeting thing when every mission your mechs blows up because you thought charging in with lasers blazing while going for a head on collision was cool. It was but you lose your mech but you gotta pay 2 million credits to repair it. Being a mercenary in a mecha world just means barely scraping by for every mission. Skills? Throw that out the window, just farm the Arena and go for a free for all and just hide like a ♥♥♥♥♥ and take out the remaining enemies when they are all nice and weak.
This game is a classic love-hate relationship. Graphically, it’s amazing—the destructible environments are among the best ever implemented in gaming, and it runs extremely well even on older PCs. But the vanilla base game lacks serious finesse. Mods like YAML or MercTech make the experience as deep and advanced as it should have been at launch, but the game still fails in core areas. For starters, the AI sucks big time: it's a mindless mess that doesn't use tactics, can't hit targets, and gets stuck constantly—you spend half your time being a damn babysitter. Being locked to a 4-mech lance against endless waves of enemy lances makes no sense, especially when enemy AI single-mindedly targets mostly you. There are no stealth options, markets sell boring gear, and vanilla mech customization feels incredibly lazy compared to what YAML offers. Voice acting and sound work are some of the worst I've heard, and proper lance command systems are nonexistent (take a look at flight sims like DCS or BMS to see how proper management works). BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORST mechanic is the magical enemy spawning. Enemy lances endlessly spawn right on top of you out of thin air. It’s a cheap, terrible design choice by PGI that completely destroys tactics and turns a tactical mech sim into a brainless arcade shooter. Since Steam doesn't allow a neutral score, I'm giving this a "Not Recommended." The base game simply falls short without heavy modding.

I played Mechwarrior since MW2 including PGIs own Mechwarrior Online which i regard as a better game than this. I wanted to buy MW5 Mercs on Steam but couldnt as PGI decided that Epics exclusive deal would be more lucrative for them. A friend got me to play it on free weekend and honestly now im kinda glad i skipped this. MW5 Mercs sucks (the vanilla game that is - im sure talented modders made it into something worthwhile but this is review for the base game). A couple problems off the top of my head were : - Enemies just spawn 360 degrees around you and show up on your radar as they fire which destroys any notion of tactical gameplay. - i had helicopters attacking me while flying backwards and vehicles trying to scale vertical walls while shooting me - The mech customization is dissapointingly limited compared to its predecessors. - The handling of the mech and armaments feels ... off ... somehow - The look is worse than Mech Warrior Online - The work of the voice actors is a bit cringey - The story (as far as i saw it) is aggressively bland Im not sure how a dud like this is regarded as "very positive" but my guess is that there probably are very good mods for it available and people are not able to differentiate. The vanilla game by itself is nothing to write home about and i dont recommend it.
You used to be able to modify your mech the way you like it. This one forces your slots for your weapons where they want you to put it making your mech really crappy. Instead of balancing the game, They reduced how good your mechs are. Mech Warrior 2, 3 and 4 were all better than this. If you wanted you could put a full missile load out, or you could put all lasers, or just AC 10s and ammo. They could have set it up like that for smart users to set their mechs up, but these days they have to dumb everything down for all the dumb people who can't figure out how to set things up. So the rest of us just have to put up with dumb down lame games. I don't know, maybe if your newer to Mech Warrior and you're not on an old hand like myself, you might like it fine, but with them locking in your modifications to your Mech Just rips the fun right out of it for me. Not to mention there's some weird things going on with the graphics and they look like crap. I don't know where that's coming from, but I have an ASUS nVidia 1080TI. The graphics should be looking really good.
Profoundly janky; nothing about this game is crisp or inspired. The controls feel gross, the UI is ugly & leaves out essential information, the amount of damage you deal & receive is mysterious, equipment refitting is restrictive to the point of being superfluous, hitboxes on terrain & enemy mechs are really weird, NPC AI is dumb & identical across all allies & enemies, the procedurally-generated landscapes are paradoxically all very similar, and so on. This is not a complete list. You might enjoy Mechwarrior 5 if A) you've been playing battletech/mechwarrior games for years and already understand the core concept, and B) you are willing to spend 6 to 10 hours modding the game into a more pleasant experience (plus an additional 3 hours re-modding every time a patch or DLC is released). Otherwise, stay away.
It's a decent game, but the major draw backs are that you have to use Mods to play it anything like the actual table top game, and the Mods break every time they release a new DLC. I'm glad they're still supporting it, but it's got very half assed mech customization unless you use Mods. The difficulty is pretty much just throwing tons of crap at you at once, and the elementals as of right now are just plain stupid as far as in game lore goes, they act more like Sylph battle armor, flying around instead of jumping like they are supposed to. It's a good game, but I wouldn't pay what they're asking for it. I wait until the DLC is at leat 50% off, becuase they really could make this game perfect, but they just choose not to. They make the community fix everything for them, and that pisses me off. At least we have a modern Battletech game, but it could be SO much better.
