Warning: Asset Flip!
Maze Art: Black is an asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", My Label Game Studio, took a template for a simple maze game, reskinned it and changed it around a little, and dumped the results onto Steam as a cash grab scam. My Label Game Studio has shown a repeated pattern of ripping off simple game templates, reskinning them and dumping them on Steam. Don't believe me? Here's some other asset flips from exactly the same template, all shamelessly dumped on Steam as nasty cash grabs: These are the asset flips from "Blender Games":

"Amaze Gears 3"
"Amaze Gears 2"
"Amaze Lunar"
"Amaze St Patrick"
"Amaze Valentine"
"Amaze Christmas"
"Amaze Halloween"
"Amaze Classic: Inverted"
"Amaze Classic"
"Amaze Gears"
"Amaze Untouchable"
"Amaze Dark Times"
"Amaze Zero"
"Amaze 2"
"Amaze"
And here are the asset flips from My Label Game Studio:

"Maze Art: Yellow"
"Maze Art: Red"
"Maze Art: Rainbow"
"Maze Art: Purple"
"Maze Art: Pink"
"Maze Art: Orange"
"Maze Art: Green"
"Maze Art: Brown"
"Maze Art: Blue"
Look for yourself... these are all reskins of exactly the same game! This just leaves us with the academic question, did Blender Games just change accounts to try mislead gamers, or is someone copying and pasting the same template? Given both "developers" have the same habit of copying + pasting these garbage templates onto Steam, I'm inclined towards the latter, but this is all conjecture. What matters is that gamers have a right to know what's going on here with these fake game scams. The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Maze Art: Black" is just a basic template for making a browser/mobile tier 2D maze game, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so a copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips are an insult to both PC gamers and to professional game developers who create genuine, high quality PC games. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have. They make it harder for gamers to find genuine games made by honest developers. To cement the position of this asset flip as nothing but a cash grab, it was dumped onto cheap DailyIndieGame shovelware bundles on launch day. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from My Label Game Studio.

Probably some kind of money laundering scheme but 8 year old me would have absolutely loved it
Typical shovelware: a barely-passable game that could probably be made in less time than it takes to actually beat the game. You can mute the music but not the SFX; you can use WASD or the arrow keys, but not both; the ball moves too slowly in the first levels and too quickly later on, and speeds up when rolling against a wall for some reason. Worst of all, the 'mazes' are barely mazes at all. A five-year-old could beat this 'game' and then complain that it was too easy. Unless you're an eighty-year-old dementia patient trying to relearn hand-eye coordination, it's not worth the price, whatever it is.
I got this from a giveaway site for free. When I thought I was done with "aMaze" games in my library a long time ago, "Maze Art" is here to replace it. Still as unremarkable as ever and not worth money, in my opinion. You move a ball using WASD or the arrow keys to navigate through a maze, collect hearts and reach the exit. There are 50 levels in total, with the difficulty (or rather complexity since there is no real challenge) increasing. I guess you could say it's relaxing gameplay, but then I'm not sure if I'm using it as a euphemism for "boring" at this point. There really isn't much else to say. Like the "aMaze" series, it's just a bunch of same-ish games using the same template, only with different themes and levels (which you probably could auto-generate and manually tweak a bit for technically unlimited content). Basically, this entire franchise is an infinite-money exploit (in theory). Once you've played one, you've played all of them. I wouldn't directly say that these are "bad" games, but they are unremarkable at best. They're just not worth money. You can find these at the back of your cereal box. I don't really see the "Art" part of this either, especially for this one. I guess it's blackberries, olives and plums, but black is kind of a weird colour (insert ramblings about how it technically is the lack of a colour, yet I call it a colour anyway because it's easier), in that it could be anything, given this art style, while in other "Maze Art" games, you could easily recognize what was in the background. Not that it matters, as you don't buy these games for the background of each level. Also yes, this review has been mostly copy-pasted from my "Maze Art: Red" review, with some new additions. I added a list of reviews to similar games, so you can see the copy-paste-ness of this game (and the resulting copy-pasted reviews made by me). At some point in my journey of reviewing the games I played, I must have become obsessed with these games, or else I would have stopped reviewing them.
