Multiplayer is an absolute masterpiece. For the singleplayer campaign, you're better off buying: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1328670/Mass_Effect_Legendary_Edition/ Even after all these years, the multiplayer is still alive and players are actively logging in every day. Note: If you run into any technical or modern compatibility issues, you can find all the essential fixes here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_3 Highly recommended!
This game gets way more hate than it should. Is it the ugly duck of the trilogy? Sure. But after playing through it I'm convinced most people just weren't ready for a video game to present them with an actual adult decision with consequences as an ending. I think people wanted a fairy tale ending and the devs laughed.
(with synthesis being the "fullest ending" and requiring a certain degree of sacrifice for the player + some characters)
. Like the prior games, it has some banger music in it, not to be missed. The game play is still solid, although certain balancing changes might be felt depending on your playstyle (i.e. vanguard dash + close range abuse is slightly harder to pull off- frankly a good change imo since it was so broken in the prior games). Also, as of April 2026, this game has a flourishing and fun multiplayer scene that I was super surprised by. I'm talking 3 am on a week day full squads, and most of them were friendly and helpful even (possibly because it's a co-op pve environment with little at stake). I actually think this multiplayer mode is so fun and successful that more current game devs should be taking a look at it for inspo. Either way, my only real complaint for the game was simply there was too much filler. I thought the story arc was ok actually, just that it took too long to arrive at, particularly mid-to-late game... and perhaps a bit too much revisiting sentiment and nostalgia. The flow of missions gets a little clunky when you add the DLC. But in the dev's defense, they probably thought this was the end and they might as well go out with a bang of fan service. They also probably needed to hit certain deadlines thus cutting content and making it into dlc. The characters from each game were well developed and the VO team probably got really close, sending everyone off proper makes sense.
No controller support? This isn't deluxe at all.
GREAT game. Only purchased for the Multiplayer. Love the team work. Developers need to do a remake, just multiplayer would be a huge hit.
This is truly the Mass Effect™ 3 N7 Digital Deluxe Edition (2012) of videogames.
The multiplayer holds up. Beat the game on Insanity with the legendary edition, and wanted the nostalgia kick of the multiplayer. It holds up
Immaculate multiplayer. Singleplayer is a 9/10 but I'd suggest you buy the Legendary version instead
