Manufactoria 2022 is a constructive puzzle game about pushing robots around. (It's okay, they don't complain.) Use simple parts to engineer solutions to open-ended problems, then rebuild 'em better! Take a company from your backyard to the soaring heights of success! How hard could it be?

Are you the kind of person that gets bored without constant stimulation? Play this game because it will consume 200% of your mental energy even when you are away from the computer. There is optimisation here but the real brilliance is its about solutions that are difficult, then optimising. The most amazing UI of any game of the genre I've come across. Retains your optimal solutions on different measures and allows nice manual saves too. UX is amazing in general. There is sheer genius here and I don't want to make any hints/spoilers apart from the fact that it makes your brain oscillate between first principles, stuff you have learned, pattern matching and frustration in a wide gamut.
I just don't like these "path creation" puzzles, especially when I need to set every single tile on there, including the start and end points. If you like that kind of puzzle, this game seems polished enough. If you want more of a programmy kind of game, this isn't for you. Edit: Thanks for the developer response! I believe you when you say there is more programming elements a bit later in the game, I just don't like to go through what I consider boring parts to get to what I want to play. All the best!
Instructions aren't very clear. UI/UX has much room for improvement. Example, the selected option should be more prominent/brighter than the not selected one. But here the selected option is dimmer which looks grayed out/disabled. Refunded now, but if UI/UX is improved, I will buy again.
Manufactoria 2022 is a remarkably intelligent puzzle game that transforms concepts from computer science and automation into an engaging and accessible experience. Developed and published by PleasingFungus Games, it serves as both a spiritual successor and modernization of the original Manufactoria, expanding the formula with improved presentation, deeper challenges, and a more welcoming learning curve. While its foundation is built upon logic, programming principles, and system design, the game succeeds because it presents these complex ideas in a way that feels playful, rewarding, and surprisingly approachable. At its heart, Manufactoria 2022 is about designing automated systems capable of processing robotic workers according to specific rules. Each puzzle presents a unique problem and provides players with a set of tools that can redirect, modify, sort, and manipulate robots as they travel through a factory network. The objective may sound straightforward, but the solutions often require careful planning and a solid understanding of how different components interact. Rather than relying on quick reactions or memorization, the game challenges players to think analytically and construct elegant systems capable of producing consistent results. One of the most impressive achievements of Manufactoria 2022 is its educational value without ever feeling like a lesson. Concepts commonly associated with programming and computational thinking are introduced through experimentation rather than formal instruction. Players gradually learn how to create systems that behave according to specific rules, effectively teaching fundamental problem-solving skills through gameplay. The game never demands prior technical knowledge, making it accessible to newcomers while still offering enough depth to satisfy experienced puzzle enthusiasts. The progression system is carefully designed to ensure that new mechanics are introduced at a comfortable pace. Early puzzles focus on basic routing and simple transformations, allowing players to build confidence before tackling more advanced challenges. As the game progresses, these foundational concepts are combined in increasingly sophisticated ways. The difficulty curve remains challenging but generally fair, encouraging players to build upon previously acquired knowledge rather than constantly learning entirely new systems. Puzzle quality is consistently high throughout the campaign. Each challenge feels deliberately crafted to explore a particular concept or combination of mechanics. Rather than simply increasing complexity through larger layouts, the game often introduces subtle twists that force players to rethink their assumptions. Many puzzles produce satisfying moments of realization where a seemingly impossible problem suddenly becomes understandable through a clever insight. These moments of discovery are among the game's greatest strengths and help maintain engagement over long play sessions. The open-ended nature of many solutions adds significant replay value. While puzzles have clear objectives, there is often more than one way to achieve them. Some players may prioritize simplicity, while others pursue maximum efficiency or minimal resource usage. This flexibility encourages experimentation and allows players to express their own problem-solving style. Solving a challenge feels rewarding not only because the puzzle is completed, but because the resulting solution reflects personal creativity and reasoning. Optimization serves as an important secondary layer of gameplay. Completing a puzzle is often only the first step. The game actively encourages players to revisit their designs and improve them by reducing complexity, increasing efficiency, or achieving specific performance goals. This additional challenge appeals particularly to players who enjoy refining systems and pursuing perfection. Watching an already functional design evolve into a highly optimized machine creates a satisfying sense of mastery. The factory theme provides an excellent framework for presenting abstract ideas. Instead of working with lines of code or mathematical formulas, players interact with visual systems that are easy to understand at a glance. Robots move through conveyor-like pathways, making it possible to observe how every decision affects the final outcome. This visual clarity helps transform potentially intimidating concepts into intuitive gameplay. Seeing a carefully constructed machine perform exactly as intended delivers a uniquely satisfying reward. A light narrative structure adds personality without distracting from the core gameplay. Players gradually expand a robotics company, taking on increasingly ambitious projects while interacting with quirky characters and business challenges. The story remains secondary to the puzzles but provides context and motivation that help connect the various stages. This sense of progression gives the game greater cohesion than a simple collection of disconnected logic challenges. Visually, Manufactoria 2022 adopts a clean and functional art style that prioritizes readability. Every component is clearly distinguishable, making it easy to track robot movement and understand system behavior. The colorful presentation prevents the game from feeling overly technical while maintaining the clarity required for complex problem-solving. The interface is intuitive and provides useful feedback, allowing players to focus on designing solutions rather than fighting against the controls. The audio design complements the gameplay effectively. Relaxing background music and subtle sound effects help create a comfortable environment for concentration. Because many puzzles require extended periods of thought and experimentation, the calm atmosphere proves beneficial. The soundtrack remains unobtrusive while contributing to the game's overall sense of focus and creativity. The game's strongest appeal lies in how it bridges the gap between entertainment and intellectual challenge. Players who enjoy engineering, programming, mathematics, or automation will immediately appreciate the depth on offer. At the same time, the accessible presentation ensures that these ideas remain approachable for players without technical backgrounds. The result is a puzzle game that feels both educational and genuinely fun. Its primary limitation is that it caters to a specific audience. Players seeking narrative-driven adventures, fast-paced action, or casual gameplay may struggle to connect with its highly analytical design. Later puzzles can become demanding and require considerable patience, especially for those unfamiliar with logical system-building. However, these challenges are precisely what make the game rewarding for its intended audience. Manufactoria 2022 stands as an exceptional example of puzzle design built around creativity, logic, and problem-solving. Through its elegant mechanics, carefully structured progression, and remarkable ability to transform programming concepts into engaging gameplay, it delivers an experience that is both intellectually stimulating and deeply satisfying. For players who enjoy automation systems, engineering challenges, and puzzles that reward careful thought, it offers one of the most compelling and rewarding experiences available within the genre. Rating: 8/10
Amazing game, an insane amount of puzzles, some of the last levels are quite hard but most are optional. A zacklike, in which you are judged by different performance metrics, levels have many ways of being beat, and you progress by gaining knowledge when solving progressively more difficult levels. Totally recomended for hardcore puzzle gamers
