You are new_user, trapped. The only way out is through the machines but nothing works.
Hard Chip is a 3D simulation and puzzle game where you design a real processor from scratch. No abstraction layers. No drag-and-drop logic blocks. You start with the foundation, the transistor and you build up from there.
Wire complementary transistors into NAND and NOR gates. Combine gates into components. Combine components into circuits. By the end, you will have designed a working 8-bit ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) by hand, from silicon principles.
Combine your gates into larger, more sophisticated parts. Each assembly is a puzzle, demanding not just intelligence but creativity, planning, and foresight.
Every wire has length. Every gate has delay. Your design is only as fast as its slowest path. Propagation delay is not a stat, it is a consequence you have to engineer around.
The terminals are dead. The machines are silent. Figure out why, one gate at a time.

If you're even slightly engineer-oriented, you'll love Hard Chip (engineering degree NOT required). Make no mistake, this is not an easy game. It doesn't even feel like a game, really, but that's a good thing. Your progression is gated only by your understanding of the task. The difficulty is entirely up to you. If you want to make the most inefficient chip, and lazily plop everything down on a die with far too much extra space, you totally can. If you want to spend hours refining one single chip to make it fastest and most space efficient chip the world has every seen, you can do that too. Everything follows a natural progression. Similar to something like Turing Complete, you start by building basic logic gates, and use those to build more advanced chips, and then use those to construct things like 64bit adders and eventually CPUs. However, Hard Chip shines in that you aren't connecting standalone logic gates, but rather the actual, underlying transistors. Your chips have a physical size for you to tinker with and try to reduce. Or perhaps instead of space, time is your target. And because everything compounds, discovering a smaller or more efficient configuration for a gate (or anything else) has a dramatic ripple effect. It's a perfect hands-on way to learn CMOS logic, and discover why transistor count matters in things. It's not perfect (yet), but even in early access there's more than enough content to justify the price, and the dev deserves every penny!
If you're into getting a good grasp of how modern digital logic works at the most basic level, this is it. If you're into perfectionism, this is going to consume a lot of your time.
This is a great game. One of the best learning tools I have seen for hardware level understanding of circuits, logic gates and computers. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the game is more than just sitting at a screen designing a chip. There is a ship that has various issues that you need to design replacement chips for. I found this creative and a nice addition making this more than just simulation, but also a game. It gives you a reason to develop these circuits, as you want to fix the ship. I would definitely recommend this game. I went to school for Computer Science, and this would have been a great tool, and likely will eventually become a tool that can be used in classrooms to help students.
I'm currently in my final few semesters of my Comp Sci degree. This game is not only fun, but it's incredibly helpful for understanding extremely low level logic. The addition of creating chips to fix your spaceship also gives a sense of purpose for making the chips rather than just being a pure simulator. I learned a lot playing this game too - I had no idea exactly how transistors worked before I started playing. 100% recommend getting this game if you'd like to further your understanding of these concepts.
Well dang... It's not just a chip fabricator game, but it's a really good, well made chip fabricator game. You have two MOSFETs, and get to make all the gates and logic units based upon those. It has blueprinting, a neat chip editor, scoreboards, a basic plot, and it runs fine on my Ryzen integrated graphics. Documentation feels a bit light in parts. For example, I've unlocked probes but haven't yet been given any info on how to use them, so that's very much been trial-and-error. However there are regular updates and a responsive developer, so I'm sure the UX will improve even more over time. It also runs just fine under Proton. This will either be *very much* your thing, or not at all your thing. [b]Play the demo[/b] and you will definitely know for sure.
Probé el juego en Acceso anticipado, esta bueno y es una manera entretenida de aprender a visualizar lógica digital en tres dimensiones, tal cual se emplea en la fabricación de "chips" en sustrato de silicio, para disfrutarlo correctamente sin estancarse recomiendo investigar un poco como funcionan los transistores, y como hacer compuertas lógicas a partir de estos.
Like NandGame, only 3D, with MOSFETs and even some story-telling. This is a hidden gem of the genre.
As god as my witness (and my wife) I am in love with this game! It's incredibly fun, was easy to grasp, and there's countless things to do even in early access. Being able to easily duplicate builds to build something even larger, to optimizing for tick count, volume, and even MOS', I cannot stop playing. I can't wait to see this game in its full release!
