Hidden gem!
I just realized this is basically Mage Knight, but a little better because you can do things like upgrade cards and cull your deck. If you play board games, and enjoy Mage Knight, this is a fantastic game.
Velmi dobrá hra, zaujala mě vizuálem a koupě nelituji. Navštěvujte místa, kde získáváte karty, sbíráte suroviny a zdroje, vylepšujte si hrdinu i karty. Trochu přirovnal k Heroes of Might and Magic 3 na steroidech, bez otravné správy měst a místo armády jsou zde právě karty.
At time of writing this I've finished the game and all the achievements which apparently took me about 12 hours total. So it's not a very big game, and replay-ability feels kinda limited. I bought it on a steam sale for something like 5 euro and for that price it was a good deal. TL;DR - Gameplay is overall good, fun mechanics for combat, campaign is good. But I would probably not want to pay full price for it as it currently is. Also note if you try the demo you will have to start over if you buy the game. ---------------------------------- The base premise of deck builder combined with a hexgrid movement is good, having different tiles costing different amount of energy to move into and giving various bonuses to offense and/or defense. Then having enemies moving around and chasing you gives room for tactical play with dealing damage and dodging and evading, unless you have cards to stand there and block. Combat is kinda similar to StS, as are some characters in minor ways. But the hexgrid makes it feel more like HoMM or similar games in other regards. Though with how important movement is in the game, and how new characters are unlocked as you go along in the campaign and have to level them up in order to unlock their cards and equipment felt poorly implemented. I wanted to try out the new characters, but since movement was so important and the first character is one with really good mobility cards I felt discouraged to try out the other characters, unless I want to replay missions in order to grind them up. Though to be fair, it's not really much grinding needing to be done, if I had varied the characters I think most, if not all, would have reached the level 10 cap. But when the first character simply has so good mobility it was hard to not return to her for a lot of missions. Another small annoyance for me is card animation speed. There was one character I liked (played a bit like a Shiv build on The Silent in StS), but playing a lot of cards in one turn could lead to an animation stack where you kinda just sit and twiddle your thumbs waiting to be able to end your turn and get on with the game. And there isn't really any way to speed it up, you can only speed up movement and AI actions. The campaign was all-in-all good, I just wish there would had been separate campaigns for the different characters where each can reach max level, and then a final campaign part where you can choose the character you wanna go forth with for each mission. The story was much deeper than I expected from a deck builder and there were parts I kinda wanted to know a bit more about (in a good way).
