I thought about this a lot, and I know a bunch of people worked really hard on the game, but to me unfortunately is a no.
Summary
Cute, but not worth the current price. I know it's a cozy game, but it's too easy. There's no challenge. There's a cute storyline, but I don't think it was executed so well to make up for the rest. After the storyline ends, there's nothing else. You could keep running your bakery, but at that point it's just not fun anymore. There are a few bugs, but what game doesn't have bugs nowadays? My 2 cents: since you get around 10 hours of gameplay, the game should cost max 10 euros.

Gameplay & Storyline and what I didn't like
You play as an apprentice magical baker, who has terrible grades and has been sent to a run-down bakery. You can choose among 3 voices for your character (even though they don't really sound different), six haircuts, and a few clothes. Every accessory is accessible from the beginning, and nothing gets added later on as you play. This already kind of ruins the "reward" system that is supposed to be in games, especially in cozy games like this one. At this point, you learn how to bake bread, how to open the shop and how to use the chalkboard in the shop to recommend food to customers. The game recommends you which foods to recommend, however after a while it just keeps recommending the same three things, since it'll only try to sell what costs more. This makes it so that, even though now you know around 30 recipes, you will always be baking the same four things for weeks. As you are getting started in your new life, you find out that you have to pass 6 practical exams to reach level 7 and unlock more recipes as you advance. To pass the exams, you have to prepare three different recipes with new ingredients that are made available as soon as you reach a new level. Each exam takes place every Sunday, which means you have 6 weeks of gameplay. The idea of taking the exams is nice, but it is too easy: by week 3 I had every recipe prepared on the first day, kind of ruining the "exam anxiety" part of the gameplay. Every evening, a character comes to your bakery (
yes, your bakery, since your mentor is always sleeping or watching you sleep
) and offers you to implement improvements to the place according to your current level in exchange for some money. You can get improvements up to level 5. By the end of the 4th week, I had already bought all the improvements; after that, the character kept coming, never acknowledging that I did not need her services anymore. Theoretically, the game is supposed to get more difficult as you go on: you can buy new seats to get more customers, you can recommend more recipes, recipes need more ingredients, which cost more money, etc, etc. But I never had more than five customers at the same time, and most of my tables were always empty. If it's not challenging it's not funny, if I don't lose or get close to losing at least once is not entertaining. At the beginning of the 6th and last week, I had completed the three recipes needed to pass the last exam and had bought every improvement, while still having a lot of money. I could have just skipped every day of the last week and nothing would have changed, but I thought: perhaps, there's going to be a plot-twist? Maybe, I'll get more improvements? Or the gameplay is going to get really hard? Or the villain is going to destroy my cakes for my exam? Spoiler:
no
. Another aspect of the gameplay are the elementals, cute creatures that when hugged will release spices. That part of the gameplay is a bit too farmy for me, In addition to that, there were a couple of bugs while I was playing but I am confident that the team will fix those.
What I liked
- The 3D graphics are really cute. The sweets look delicious. - Was not expecting a storyline, but it was there. - There's a sassy black cat. - The villain doesn't remember your name at times, but he will always respect your pronouns. And honestly that made me laugh in gay. - The gameplay was fun the first couple of weeks. - The UI
What could be done to improve
Just a few tips that I think could make the game better: - make certain clothes/hairs/accessories available as time passes; or even, as you complete certain in-game or invisible challenges (e.g., if you've served +30 moody characters with spices, you get a certain dress). - make the elemental aspect more entertaining, rather than just a pain that you have to feed and hug. - put Baba behind the checkout machine. Make her look like she owns the place and cares about it. Sure, she can't help us. I get it. But at least she's there. - The dialogues are nice; they reveal the backstory, some information about species etc, but what are they for? I feel like the orc should at least acknowledge that she has nothing else to offer, or Baba should tell my character that "oh wow, you completed the exam table already?", etc. Nothing that changes the gameplay, but just a little reward. and important: - make the game actually challenging and add rewards that go on after the first six weeks!! In a Candy Crush or Good Pizza, Great Pizza type of way. Otherwise this game will never be worth the current price.
Management game, cooking, fantasy, We will take on the role of an apprentice from the Magic Pastry Chef Academy. Our guide and teacher is Baba we should start from the simplest things: we will learn to mix, knead, cook and decorate. We must learn to use ingredients in the right way to add new recipes in our Diary, But we won't do everything alone, magic can help us. Not just cooking, but we have the responsibility of managing the pastry shop every day, there will be customers to serve and tables to clean. There are 6 levels to complete, it is possible to buy the ingredients to use from the Merchant, and the Blacksmith offers us products to improve the place. Like all schools we should show what we learn by passing exams, every Sunday "The examiner" will arrive to see the progress and propose new challenges. The graphics are very beautiful, this cartoon style full of colors is pleasant to look at. The music is nice and fits the game. I recommend it, it's fun and the story is nice, the only negative thing that in my opinion should be improved is the customers get impatient too quickly and leave, not allowing us to earn during the working day, but in reality the customers wait patiently to being served should be like this in the game too, it would be more fun and less frustrating. I need a middle button for a mixed review. It is a cute fun game but not worth the $20. I got 15 hrs out of it basically so def not worth the price. Some of the time i walked away to do things in my home and the game was just running. The story was cute but the days got so repetitive and i was getting tired because the customers were impatient too fast. Then the elementals are just there taking up unnecessary time as well. The story was cute but short. There were some bugs as well where i had to redo the scenario to get the game going again. Raccoon wa sstuck in the shop so it wouldnt go to the next day. Then customer sit on top of each other when other tables are free. It think this game should be arounf 10 bucks not 20. Paying $20 for a game with less than 30 hrs of content is too much to me. I've played Palia almost 200hrs for free.
A cute and fun game for what it is, but not very challenging at all and as of 11/24 there are still a lot of bugs it released with. Overall though, I enjoyed my playthrough, and wish there was more replayability involved or more content in general. I have a higher than normal playtime because I played while working so would leave it open in the background a lot of the time, it's not indicative of the time it actually takes to play through the game. I still enjoyed the game and if you're looking for a very chill cooking game this one is good to try out!
I really like the concept of this game! It is cozy, fun, and whimsical. Unfortunately it is suffering from lots of bugs and glitches (getting stuck in dialogue, the game crashing, the cat gaslighting you brought it the wrong order, etc). I figure that that is to be expected with a brand new release and I'm hoping the developers release a game patch/update soon as it is very fun the play (when it works)
That's a really good cozy game. I can't wait to see more from it. I totally can see this game receiving DLC with more content and new clothes.
