A charming game with enjoyable gameplay and a nice atmosphere. Perfect for relaxing after a long day.
Too old, hard to look at, painstakingly boring, just play the definitive edition.
A total waste of time for most people . only die-hard fans of the series would find this enjoyable in 2026. Don`t know why would anyone bother with this one while the definitive edition exists
### **Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven (2002)** **Platform Played:** PC (previously attempted on PS2) **Total Playtime:** 25 Hours (taking my sweet time) ### **Overview** I don’t usually play game franchises in sequential order, but I wanted to start from the very beginning with this one. I originally tried playing this on the PS2 years ago but got stuck on the infamous racing mission. I finally came back and managed to fully complete it on PC. Here is my breakdown of how this 2002 classic holds up: ### **Story: 8/10** The dialogue in the prologue and epilogue is fantastic, and standout characters like Paulie, Frank, and Lucas Bertone really elevate the experience. The opening and closing acts deliver great shock value and a lasting impression. However, the middle section of the plot feels a bit flat. It pushes belief a little too far that the entire mob relies so heavily on a newcomer, and that he manages to pull everything off flawlessly without ever messing up. ### **Graphics: 7/10** Having grown up with early 2000s games, I have a soft spot for this era's low-polygon aesthetic. That said, seeing actual smoke effects and cloth physics reacting to the rain in a game from 2002 is honestly insane. ### **Mechanics: 4/10** The game requires *a lot* of driving, and I stuck strictly to automatic transmission. The context interactions are overly simplistic (mostly just right-clicking), and the rolling mechanic felt entirely unnecessary. On the positive side, shooting while driving felt realistic and rewarding. What really drags the score down here, though, is the melee combat—it is incredibly clunky and poorly implemented. ### **Controls: 2/10** I know it’s an old game and you have to adjust your expectations, but the controls are incredibly janky. The game itself isn't inherently difficult; it's the clunky handling that makes it tough to play. A prime example of the frustrating design is having a dedicated, separate keybind for the sniper mode, which you literally only use for a single mission in the entire game. ### **Replayability: 0/10** By the end, I was just waiting for the credits to roll. I highly doubt I will ever revisit this one. ### **Verdict: Can Play** Recommended only if you want a taste of old-school gaming and are willing to look past its mechanical drawbacks.
this game comes from a time where no one knew what the ideal game controls were - not even the devs. the game is amazing and becomes very easily playable ONLY AFTER you change the controls to a more modern GTA-ish style. 9/10 would recommend. the one point is for some mission design, there is no rightful reason for a respectable Mafia Don to send one of his best men on a mission with a baseball bat, a Colt and 15 BULLETS, only for you to find out there´s like 30 guys with a Thompson´s waiting for you there, and they all have like 500 ammo. Don Salieri seriously underestimates the situations he´s sending his men to.
Я гангста нах, трогательная история где показывает как человека меняют деньги

Best game ever to me. Played it as a teen back then, and now again.
