This game really surprised me! It may not look amazing and has it's weaknesses, but combat feels better than expected, good even. And what surprised me most, it's not just running and shooting zombies with a flat story, not at all! It has more different game mechanics than a lot of games I played AND a decent story. It's a bit Silent Hill, a bit Resident Evil and something of it's own. I still can't believe it's free. At least, the dev should offer a supporter dlc to make a few bucks. He is really talented.
Amazing work for someone's very first game. The gameplay, and atmosphere were very well done. The creatures are really well done as well and look grotesque. I didn't encounter a single bug where I had to restart the game which is amazing for someone's first ever game. One small opinion I have is the clunky movement when you play as Lunatii in the Subway. The movement there was a bit difficult to steer with the fixed camera angles, but that was so minimal I don't really care that much. I also feel really bad that I didn't pay any money for this game, because I definitely would have. If anyone loves Resident Evil, Silent Hill, SCP storylines, or Dead Space, PLEASE give this game a try. And for Richard (the creator) you got my attention bud, and I'll happily drop some clams for your next game, absolutely no rush though, take all the time you need and I'll be waiting.
Lumina Veil is a reminder to us that a great game does not always have a price tag. Hamster's Cafe first free game includes a 3-4+ hour campaign, a unique dystopian environment, and an entertaining story with an (amazing) voice cast. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a narrative heavy horror-based adventure. I eagerly await for more content from the developer!
For a free game, this is honestly incredible and so impressive for a solo-dev passion project. The strong narrative execution surprised me even more. The game is highly atmospheric, leaning on classic Silent Hill and Resident Evil vibes, and it builds continuous psychological tension right from the start, it's the exact same kind of tension I felt when watching the movie Hereditary. I love that the gameplay is streamlined; unlike the Poppy Playtime franchise, which focuses too much on puzzles (I hated that) instead of horror, the puzzles here don't stall your momentum, keeping the story front and center. Chapter 3 is definitely the scariest part of the game for me because the entity in that chapter scared the sh*t out of me every single time he appeared, and his screams jumpscared me every time. Definitely recommend giving this a try if you like old-school survival horror. Massive props to the developer.
Awesome classic survival horror! Very engaging and original
This game is a passion project, done by one dev, and it's free to play without any strings attached. It feels like a full-fledged game which people would gladly pay for. It has a well-balanced amount of content that is served with the right amount of new game mechanics at the right time to keep the player entertained until the end. I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs or bugs in general. You can feel that the dev is upholding a certain degree of quality since everything works so well together. The level design has a bit of inconsistency in quality, but we are talking about the range from decent to pretty well done here which might be just a reflection on how much he improved throughout the development phase. No need to be afraid if you want to play 100% the game. I managed to unlock them all and haven't encountered any issues at all. The game is best played with a game controller. Lumina Veil is an underrated game with Silent Hill vibes. Anyone who likes to play horror games should try it out.
Very impressive for a free, solo dev project. This could absolutely be a paid title and I think the review consensus would be just as positive. Gameplay is a little clunky, but in the "survival horror" sweet spot where it seems intentional. The sound design and atmosphere are very good and I was thoroughly surprised by the way the story hooked me; it was it's own incentive to keep playing. Ran excellent on the "balanced" preset of the Legion Go S. Play this! Can't wait to see what else dev does in the future.
vielen dank für das spiel was sehr gut
