Fun, relaxing and safe game to play with the kids! Wife and I have our own little island as well. :)

Luma Island is a solid and cozy farming sim & craft. Perfect title for relaxing and just one more thing checked off. These are my first impressions after a short playthrough, but I already give it my stamp of approval. What this title does well and makes it slightly stand out is the exploring and loot. Albeit, I don't know if the loot in the chest really feels all that special as I have a hard time even processing what I just got. Exploring and chest hunting feels more fun and worthwhile than a lot of craft titles. It's filled with semi-hidden treasure chests and fairly light barely puzzle puzzles that stands out and has a charm to it. The environmental puzzles are light enough to be casual, but are still just difficult enough to give you that "AHA!" moment. Graphically it looks really nice in-game and better than the screenshots, especially for a title that should run decent enough on any toaster. It quite obviously was designed to be a lite-weight, low-poly title and it looks pretty beautiful for one. Difficulty wise, it's extremely easy on the middle difficulty - but that's exactly what I look for in a cozy game. Will it win any GOTY awards? Probably not, but it's a well-produced, well-polished and very solid title regardless. Story wise, I haven't really noticed anything that stands out. I'd call it more of an environmental story thus far even though it's there as this is definitely has that hand-crafted world feel to it that's nothing like proc-gen. I paid $13 for it and it seems to warrant the price. For $7 or less, it's an absolute steal for fans of the genre. Were this on that handheld first-party console with a recognizable IP stamped on it, I think most would be totally satisfied with its quality and level of polish.
The only game in recent memory that I was genuinely hooked on and completed start to finish. The art style is brilliant, the story is great and the skills are interesting. The different biomes make the game more interesting rather than just a grind to the finish in the same world. There were only 3 things that I found a bit confusing or could use improvement - when the game launched as a new player it put me into the Pirates version of the game which has extra content but I was confused by this at first; the fishing skill seemed a little tedious compared to the others (maybe just personal preference) so I didn't bother with it beyond the requirements for the core story; at the end of the game there are two different endings you can choose from but at the time I completed it there was no way to "go back" and then try the other ending out. I hope they keep adding expansions to the game as the world is fantastic - I would like to see new areas and quests, etc. Buy this game if you want a well thought out cozy game that presents fun challenges and skills coupled with a rich story and lovely art style!
Great game to play with a friend! Had a blast from start to finish. It's not got a crazy story or anything, but it's a very beautiful, peaceful, and relatively chill game. There is MINOR combat but it's simply pressing A at an enemy with a whip and they only appear in specific areas. Mainly it's a lot of exploration and crafting! It's very simple to follow along and the exploration is really well done! Lots of twists and turns and simple puzzles to do! I will say the 8am lag as the world resets everything is really annoying to deal with but otherwise everything was pretty fun! You get a bit of farming, creature collecting, decorating, story, puzzles... Also I saw a lot about it being grindy and perhaps it's because I'm playing with a friend but this game is really fair I think.. yes there's some end game steep grinds but it's really not.. crazy just a minor grind that would make sense for getting the best of stuff. Great game at a great price!
If you want something cute and simple to get through with your friends, or even kids, I would definitely recommend this game. It's up to 4 players. It was fun from day 1. My friend and I had a blast playing it. Alone, I could see this game being quite grindy, but honestly I feel it's fairly respectful of players time in comparison to other games that have a lot of crafting and gathering. Like any game like this, playing with others will obviously make the grind easier. The multiplayer has a few hiccups; the host had to get some items for me in one of the temples for the archeology profession as I kept getting a black screen in one of the final rooms (turning graphics to minimum while in a temple may help with this, but don't take my word for it). And she would lag every time I would change map. But otherwise, other than personal quests for professions, quest items were shared. It made getting through the story fairly painless. And for arachnophobes, they do have an arachnophobia mode. Which, honestly, there were times I regretted not turning on. lmao Honestly my main complaint is that at 8am, every day, the game will freeze completely as the world resets gatherable items. It gets annoying really fast, and causes parts of the game to speed up for those seconds its trying to catch up to the world freeze. Which causes problems in temples and mines.
I'm 3/4 of the way to finishing this game and I'm giving it a 'Yes, but...' The cons: It's very grindy. The treasure chests are mostly blah/sameness in different 'flavors' - something special every once in a while would have been very welcome. The storyline is presented in a very shallow manner - only 4 quests to rebuild small parts of the town after the quake. The devs could have done a lot more with this part of the game! There's no actual relationship/friendship building with the npcs. Even though there are houses to build later in the game, the original camper can't even be moved! You can't go inside any of the town buildings. And the camera angle is odd and prevents you from seeing much distance. I found this especially bothersome. You can't go immediately back to bed to make a day pass quickly & instead must wait until late in the afternoon. Some of the temple puzzles are a real PITA and I had to follow utube videos frame by frame. The pros: The game is very pretty & colorful. You can quit & save anywhere except inside the temples (in addition to when you sleep). There's different professions that are interesting and have their own questlines. There are 4 different biomes to explore. Despite having some problems with the temple puzzles that nearly caused me to rage-quit 3 times in the past week, I still found the game strangely compelling and kept playing. And last but actually at the top of my list - the game has 3 difficulty modes. Thank goodness for 'Cozy Mode'! Oh, and you can also turn off the spiders too.
Прикольна гра. Прям аж в детсво впадаю. Все таке лампове що діться нікуди. Прям няха. Але на любітеля.
