A decent hidden-object game. Has an interesting plot, fun HO scenes and some thrilling minigames. The protagonist is Mary, who has just lost her second husband. Her first husband had gone missing in action over Cambodia, and presumed dead. Then a package of letters appears in her mailbox… and they are from John, said first husband… (note: they are from 1977, and while I am unsure if the US still had troops in Cambodia, I do know that South Vietnam fell to the North in 1975.) On that note, I do wonder at times how some of the hidden objects might become more mysterious over the years. I mean… I can’t remember the last time I saw a CD player out in the real world. Suggest getting on discount. There are a few glitches in the program.
Good story! Wish there were more games like this. I actually like finding hidden objects in my HOGs. Too many of the new HOGs have annoying puzzles and not enough hidden objects.
Hidden Schlock™ "Hidden Object Game" Shlock-O-Meter™

---/Schlockmarks™\---
☐ You're mostly doing something besides finding hidden objects (inventory puzzles, minigames, cutscenes, etc). ☑ Failure is impossible (e.g. no timers, everything is hintable/skippable, enjoy your participation trophy). ☐ Ubiquitous fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal plot (usually but not necessarily terrible).
3 Points: Total Schlock 💯 2 Points: Schlockalike 👭 1 Point : Soupçon of Schlock 🥄 0 Points: Not Schlock 👌
RESULT: Soupçon of Schlock 🥄 NOTES: I'm not the target demographic for this game. I kept hoping the story would end in tragedy, but was disappointed. Realism is rare in this genre, so it has a unique charm despite the following jank: an unusable custom cursor which thankfully can be disabled, although there are certain mini games which force it despite the setting. You can slog through these, except for one late-game "puzzle" where the cursor completely disappears and enabling a Windows accessibility option for locating it is the only way to progress (good luck "casual" gamers). You will need to change your aspect ratio to 4:3 unless you like 'em wide. Like most Big Fish titles on Steam, it's absurdly expensive for what it is, until it goes on sale once or twice a year for the appropriate price of a pre-Liberation-Day chocolate bar, so please delay your marginal gratification. It's very nearly an inoffensive way to waste a regrettably capacious portion of your precious human incarnation. Looking back on this game I GIVE IT ONE THUMB UP IN THE REAR! FINE PRINT: Hidden Schlock™ "Hidden Object Game" Shlock-O-Meter™ is designed to inform players about a game's formulaic conformity to the conventions of a prolific but erroneously named publishing category. In order to be considered for a HOG Schlock™ rating, a game must display generally accepted hallmarks of HOGs including, but not limited to, UI design and behaviors typical of, and tagging/identification with, the genre by the gaming community and/or publisher. Hidden Schlock™ "Hidden Object Game" Shlock-O-Meter™ is not in itself a measure of quality, nor a recommendation, and does not constitute financial advice.
This is a Hidden Object Adventure game. I had a lot of trouble seeing things. As beautiful as the artwork is, it's like the older HOG games in that the items are not sharp and often tiny. I had to use my 4" magnifying glass, LOL. It is an intriguing & touching story full of HOPs, mini games and puzzles.
nice
I am recommending this with huge reservations. The story is cute, and the game play is very simplistic. I have fond memories of playing this game many years ago so there is some nostalgic value for me. That said, the graphics are fairly low quality by today's standards. Also, it is a bit glitchy, especially with the mouse cursor. The game where you have to shoot the ducks is a complete mess. There are not many HOGs with a romance theme so I do appreciate the Love Story series.
very poor. not what I expected; just a lot of scenes where I had to click, click until I hit on the thing that they had decided was the one, for example, was a pair of the first one. they have my money and i have ... I do not know. unfortunately it is part of a set, so i have three of them. no story that i could see, just finish one scene and go to the next ( i did not go to many) played for 104 minutes because it was so difficult to follow. shameful
