FUN!
I have such mixed feelings, but ultimately, I found this second installment to just make me angry, and as such, I can't recommend it other than to be a completionist. (*edit I just started book 3 and story wise its really good. It also seems to be addressing a number of issues I had. Its possible I change my rating if the total story is worth the ride) The challenges, of which you likely are aware of a few. The first challenge is how the text is split. Both sides of the conversation play out with one person's text on the left and the other on the right. This style isn't for me as I read left to right and it's incredibly distracting. I gave up on reading a lot of text, which leads into the second challenge. The text continues being overly wordy. A LOT. An example is a line where one of the girls said, "Master, please don't stop," and the main character asked, "Would you like me to keep going?" This happens a LOT. All of the writing could be tightened up. The sex scenes are also problematic as they jump a lot. What I mean is that you go from 0-100 in scenes with suddenly a pile of white stuff on their face. It just feels "jerky" and sudden. This leads me to the element that made me angry. Constantly the main character (MC) is offered up fun times and CONSTANTLY the MC turns this down. One or two times I can overlook, but this is a fun time story and the author, via the MC, is constantly rooster blocking. Many of these could be repeatable scenes utilizing something that has already happened, so it's not even just to reduce the amount of H (aka funtime, aka Hentai, aka sex) that is going on. It's just to flat out roster block. In addition to those issues I also didn't like the MC. I understand that some of this is the character and that we can't "own" the character, but the bullheaded, and stupid decision-making when other clear solutions are available was just frustrating. Then I bring in finding the quests. I used the cheat so I can spend time finding quest, and I didn't use a guide. What i discovered is that it appears my number of visits to sites would help launch events/quests, and time of day mattered. I had a dragon quest that sat for the longest time that I never unlocked because I didn't know that I had to drink a beer. I did it two nights before the end, and then the egg location never showed up. I was supposed to get a drink for Kate, when to where I thought it would be and it wasn't available. After, what I'm pretty sure was the scene I was supposed to give it to her, it was available at evening or night at the place I'd been looking. The lack of guidance from the quests and the need to click all over the board to find things was... frustrating. Additionally, there are cooldowns (a couple of days after) that are invisible to the player, so I felt like I was blind clicking. I cared about characters in the game, so kudos there, just not the character I was supposed to be madly in love with. The saccharine nature of the relationship is a huge turn-off for me, but that's personal preference, and if you've played act one, you're already aware of what Emily is like. There are other characters I really liked, and you're not allowed to spend time or grow their relationship. Not only that but the MC puts limit on the love they have and so no one can compare to his true love. Realistically, while this can be somewhat true, it can also be true that people can love, and putting boundaries around it seemed unnecessary. Again, personal preference. The MC feels more meglomaniac in this book. He ignores the wishes of people around him to do what he wants, abuses his power for what he deems is good, and is not a dude I'd want to have a beer with. He really is horribly boring outside of his love of power and sex. I think this was shown in Book 1, but book 2 takes this up a notch. I was upset at the end of act 2 because I like four characters in the book. two, we don't get to know more; one was actually perfect, although the MC never showed her love, just his rooster, and one resulted in sadness (spoilers). She was probably my second favorite just because we got to know her more. In the end, I didn't find the majority of relationships rewarding, the H scenes were substandard, the animation time was on long drawn out none H scenes that I ended up skipping because they were going way too slow for me. The authors priorities were significantly different than mine and so this isn't a story I can recommend. The novelty of the first book has worn off and the weak points are like that corner in a house you purchase. At first you don't think you'll mind that you bump into it because that one area is just slightly off from what you want or need, but after living there for a year that corner of the counter you keep bumping into is driving you nuts and you're looking for the sledge hammer. I constantly found myself angry primarily due to rooster blocking and I just can't recommend this. All THAT said, the story took me 27 or so hours to complete, is interesting if you're not here for the H and are okay with it as a by product, you do somewhat care about characters, and there is a story if you can get past the wordiness and a weird text layout that completely threw me off. If you had no issues with book 1 and everything was perfect, book 2 might be for you. If you had some issues, I thought all my issues were highlighted more significantly. My biggest takeaway is that this author just isn't for me. What we are looking for and find rewarding are apparently very different.
This Game is simply outstanding Fantastic Writing and plenty of fascinating quests to complete
