Spend points to purchase upgrades to restore your shop, add extra elements to your kitchen, and activate other elements that make running your restaurant even easier!
Explore the NPCs:
Something has been missing from this restaurant for a long time. Learn about Alan’s history with the restaurant and help him find his missing piece!
According to Alan, this restaurant used to have some regulars. When they come into the restaurant, complete their challenge to learn more about the history of your store!

So here's the thing...I love cooking games...this one seems so fun and cute I love the customization and how its almost like lemon cake. But! There is no way you can check the recipes there's none...and then they put you in a rush order it was unplayable I got the achivement to slow cause I couldn't figure how to make something. That's the only down side to this game if your going to make it a dash game give recipies...I'm gonna go back to lemon cake..if yall fix this then maybe I'll buy again till then full return.
I've been following the creation of this game since it was first announced and was SOOOO excited for it. I even joined the discord. But now that I have almost 8 hours in it, the game is kinda underwhelming. :/ It takes forever for you to earn enough upgrade points to get most of the upgrades and then by the time you do you realize that many of the most expensive upgrades (like the sprinkler and the little ingredient holder guys) aren't even that helpful. (The sprinkler only waters the ingredients once in the morning and the guys move slower than you getting the ingredients yourself, and then when they finally do come over you have no control of what ingredients get put on the table, they just throw them all on there.) It also gets pretty monotonous after a few "days" in game. This concept would better suited as a phone game that you play in 15 minute increments, not a full fledged steam game. :/
Tutorial is about 2 mins and only has you do the recipes 1x. Then you are thrown into a diner dash style game and there are no way to check recipes. Unplayable for me as someone with autism. Also you cant play as a boy or nb. Only girly hairstyles. Dramatically overpriced too. Its like an app
Kokoro Kitchen 🍜 Best game for preparing Japanese food in a playful way! Every day you choose up to 5 dishes for your menu, and each recipe slowly gains XP toward its 3 star mastery rating. Ingredients come from your garden, or from the Merchant. Earn upgrade points by serving happy customers! What I loved most is the focus on prep work!! There’s no stressful rush before opening, so making ingredients, filling to-go boxes, and greeting customers outside becomes part of the fun instead of time pressure! You can’t accidentally serve the wrong dish to customers, so failures come from burning food or letting guests lose patience. Overall super charming and I highly recommend it!! ♡ TIPS: 🔔 43 Recipes 🔔 Flour is located in the kitchen from the start!! 🔔 The Merchant sells meat (for the day) and seeds 🐝 🔔 Blue bottles are upgrade points used in the Kitchen, Garden, and Dining Room menus 🔔 New special visitor appears every 10th day, and they require a specific meal 🔔 Repeating dishes increases their star rating over time, and you need to 3-start at least one dish by day 60. Example: The rice takes about 75 times to cook it before it becomes 3-star🍚 🔔 Recommend Upgrades: Unlock the To-go boxes, the Cow and Chicken helpers (so nice to always have milk and eggs ready in the kitchen!) extra plates and firewood is a must, hot tea in the dining room, and the ice cream is so worth it!! 🍦 🔔A little extra money can help after close, if you have the Gachapon machines then Ghosts will continue to buy if you stay in menu, lol
Ran hot on my deck and you have a short tutorial. I didn't like how you have to remember the recipes with little help. It's cute, reminds me of Lemon Cake.
I had a great time with this! I didn't find any bugs, and the issues that other reviews mention (upgrade points being grindy and the helpers being a bit slow) were fixed in the most recent patch. The result is very cosy and cute. It isn't a complicated min-maxxing kind of game, but it really doesn't need to be - it's easy enough to feel relaxing and complicated enough to feel rewarding and fun. I played a few "days" at a time to wind down after work, and enjoyed 100%-ing it (I want all the mitarashi dango). The art style is lovely and the devs are very responsive to feedback - you can tell a lot of care was put into this. 10/10: you can pet the poultry-geist and I discovered a lot of cool Japanese food I hadn't heard of. One of those games that feels like getting a hug and a pat on the back; it respects your time. Looking forward to seeing what's next from these devs (Alan deserves a cameo!)
I have had this game for a while, and while it's cute and adorable and looks so promising right now I can't even get past the tutorial. I follow the instructions for making the last of the 4 menu items where you make the soy beans and you put them into a big jar in the prep room and you have to mix it around using w.a.s.d really fast. I do that and it bumps me out with out giving the sound and the dish with the stuff above it like with the tofu maker. When I go to the table to mix everything together it then says I don't have the right items. I have tried it about four times, restarted the game, tried again about four times, restarted the game... ect... ect...ect... So, at this moment I cannot recommend this game, maybe in a few months I can change this review.
Pros:
- Graphics: Cute, vibrant and pleasant to look at, although, IMO, nothing particularly striking. The food looks awesome, in any case! - Gameplay: Simple and intuitive, but could get repetitive at times. - Pacing: As other reviews stated, you can pick and choose easier menus (with fewer ingredients) for when you just wanna chill, or the opposite if you're looking a challenge/stressful time-management experience. - Premise: Restoring a run-down Japanese restaurant (apparently in the spirit world) and serving your incorporeal patrons are indeed cozy and enjoyable. - Alan: You can pet him (
although that offers no gameplay benefit :(
)!
Cons:
- Story: Frankly kinda forgettable. I still don't know if
we (our character) ever get to return to the material world, or are we stuck as the substitute chef forever? Not that bad of a fate, I'd say!
- Helpers: Particularly the ones of veggies. I still have no idea how they work after having finished the game. They just kept throwing things I didn't yet need at me, forcing me to trash everything since I also didn't know how to take out a particular ingredient. - Soundtrack: There were only 2-3 soundtracks for the entire game. - Customization: Rather lacking, both in terms of the restaurant and your character. Only a few hairstyles to choose from. No clothing options (other than the colors). And you cannot choose your sex, which I suppose is normal for this type of game (see: Lemon Cake)? - Optimization: Might be just me, but whenever I run this game, my laptop gets uncomfortably hot despite it seemingly not being graphically intensive. I've tried limiting the FPS to no avail... There were no lag or stutters though!
Verdict:
7.5/10 A decent experience thanks to the warm and inviting atmosphere, as well as the colorful visuals. The game, however, would benefit from more variety and customization options.
Freaking adorable. Kinda felt overwhelmed when it first started but I gave it a few hours and im obsessed. Its my perfect amount of cute and fast to keep me hooked. Love love love.
