Thanks, Paddle Team. your comment really helpful to me :) I'll don't forget your kind heart ❤️
«Lots of Balls»
Wanna try them out? Well, the balls are in your... So come play with Lots of Balls!».
-Quick Review- Lots of Balls is a 2d game with lots of Balls... so yeah, accurate naming. It's in the same vein as Breakout. One might even say "inspired by breakout", or one might say "it's breakout with more rules", one could also say "what's breakout?", And one could respond with "It's an old paddle-and-ball game first seen on the Atari 2600 and then found on every computer ever until the year 2000", and then a response might be "What's an Atari 2600?", then my only response is "God I feel old". -Detailed breakdown review- Gameplay: There's nothing much to say about the story found in "lots of Balls", so I just skipped it. (A popular alternative is when I fabricate a story that has nothing to do with the game... but I couldn't think of one which would be PG) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1408443419 The gameplay for Lots of Balls is basically "breakout". but with a few twists. There are about 4 different game modes, one which is just breakout-the-game, where bounce a ball off a paddle you can move and bounce the ball into rectangles to clear out the level. One of the surprises about the game is how it brings something new after a few levels. So once I started to think "okay, you'd better do something different game", that's when I would get a new game mode. By far my FAVORITE was a game mode called "gravity". in this game mode you use the arrow keys to adjust which direction your balls fall (the unintentional euphemisms in this review are awful). Same rules as before: clear the screen of targets and you win! The most intense game mode is a type of "survival" mode, where you try to keep from losing as long as you can... as you play (in ANY game mode), the longer a ball lives the faster it goes. A few other nuanced details to remember would be: Don't be in dash mode (holding down Shift) when the ball bounces off your paddle (giggity -.- ) because then the ball will turn red (matching the color when you're dashing), and then increase in speed. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1408468408 Conclusion: Isn't it weird how much I can find to say about a relatively simple game? That's how you know I kinda liked this game! As simple as it was to play through, I found myself entertained for the few hours of game time I played. That being said you the reader will need to decide if the price tag is worth the game time and gameplay. If you'd like to see a video of the gameplay, feel free to check out my video at the bottom of this review. Regardless, thank you for reading. I liked the stylish design, diverse gameplay and voice acting. Voice epic says all the names of the menu items and voiced what is happening. Moreover, in “Lots of Balls” you can change the level of difficulty and play with a friend on one computer (on the general screen without separation).
Lots of Balls is a Breakout inspired game with a unique levels. Since there's no story, we're jumping straight into graphics. Graphics: Lots of Balls is a very minimalistic looking game, but it does it's job well. Of course I didn't expect anything crazy for a Breakout inspired game and it does it's job well. It's very clear on what it sets out to do and it looks the part, but don't expect anything crazy like different backgrounds and stuff like that. Audio: I'm not the biggest fan of the audio design for Lots of Balls, it overall just feels really amateur. First of all there's some voice acting, which is cheesy on purpose, but honestly it just felt really bad, I would have preferred if it was not there in the first place. The music as well is not that good and feels like royalty free music that honestly gets grading after a while. Gameplay: Lots of Balls is basically Breakout, with quite a few unique levels and I'm glad to say that the game is pretty fun for the most part. For a good majority the game plays like good ole breakout and it feels fine for the most part, with quite a few new additions for the power ups that help you not mess up. One of the key things you can do is you can launch multiple balls yourself and honestly I really like that, because it felt really fun to destroy a bunch of paddles while letting out multiple balls from the start. Most levels are grouped up in sets and they switch up the gameplay every so often. Stuff like shoot em up stages and levels where you don't even have a paddle and control the balls by changing the gravity. For a majority of these they are a ton of fun and they really freshen up the formula. However that's not all of them. The gravity ones I mentioned before are rather bad as they often act as the difficulty spikes of the game, since you have to do them in a set amount of time and it requires quite accurate shifts from the player and often took me a few times to get through them. Another one are the shoot em up levels, which are not bad per say, but rather mediocre. They are fun for the most part, but when they are mixed with the breakout levels, they tend to be really just annoying to play, because it requires to pay attention to multiple things at once. Verdict: Lots of Balls is a decent little Breakout inspired game that has some really fun unique set of levels. Even with it's issues I definitely recommend this if you're a fan of Breakout and don't mind some difficult levels. Hopefully if a sequel comes around, they really nail it. Final Rating: 6.5/10 Pros: + Unique levels every so often + Art style is decent Cons: - Quite a few of the gameplay gimmicks are not fun - Difficulty spikes that are more annoying than fun - Audio design is not very good NOTE: This game was reviewed with a code provided by the developer/publisher for the group Imperial Reviews, this did not impact my opinion on the game. It's fun! The custom level editor is really cool :)
Fun game to take a breather out of more heavy games, and has the retro feel to it in a good way, go get the balls x)
Lots of Balls.. This game has that nice old arcade feeling from Breakout/Arkanoid and Space Invaders, but it’s put into a new a (modern) jacket. Giving it a unique challenge, with different kinds of elements added into the game, such as zigzag, shooting, bombs or multiple things in 1 game. (had fun with this in the custom game). It’s a fun game to play for the nostalgic feeling or just to relax for a bit. I haven’t checked out the co-op elements yet, but i bet that will add more fun and avoids repetitiveness. All and all, It’s a fun game for it’s price. Pros: - Amount of content - Custom level editor - Quiz Cons: - The font (can’t differentiate the A and O.) - Tutorial (Try to explain the elements a bit better, can get confusing if i have to read whilst playing or if new elements gets added without notice.)
I love the arcady feeling of this game! And all the voice interactions are really fun to listen. Great game. Looking forward for your next games!
