It's big, thick, long and hard. I like it.
Fantastic!
Arguably, the best traditional roguelike due to the combat. Highly recommended.. Plays like TOME.
>be me >helpless adventurer >eaten alive by cats in a lighthouse moments ago >find a ring that lets me summon a zombie >what do you mean I can use this as many times as I want? >what do you mean I can use this from across the map >upgrade intelligence >what do you mean it summons 2 zombies now? >upgrade intelligence >what do you mean it summons 6 zombies now? >find mace that gives me +5 to zombie summoning >what do you mean it summons "marching mountain of flesh now"
훌륭한 전통 로그라이크 게임. 하지만 세련됐다!
big ahui for visibility
It's a decent little RL
This is a pretty solid 'traditional' roguelike. The combat mechanics are a big step up from bump attacks, tons of interesting enemies to use them on, and pretty diverse builds to change up each run. It also I think manages something that many roguelikes struggle with: balancing randomization with planning. What I mean here is most of your build and choices are going to be determined by what you find and when, but you can exert some level of control over this with two things: essences and witchglass. The former is like the boss souls that you can exchange for set items/spells in Souls games, while the latter can be invested into a unique to upgrade that specific unique with new abilities. Each unique can have three applied and has its own progression, so you can specialize around certain drops to direct your own build. Having done a number of runs but not beaten it yet, I would say there are a few minor design decisions I think detract rather than add to the game, but the only major sticking point I have is the decision to have unblocked damage drain your stamina. I get what they are going for; positioning and avoiding damage is key, but there is so much damage flying around, the damage-to-drain-stamina rate is so high, and stamina recovery is so slow that you'll often end up at 0 stamina and be unable to do your cool moves. There are a number of items that can help mitigate this, but there are limited slots making it a big burden to do so. Health already doesn't autorecover making getting hit punishing; I don't think limiting your Cool Moves Meter adds anything to the mix. Aside from that one point, Lost Flame is a great entry into the 'traditional' roguelike genre. If you enjoy Caves of Qud, ToME4, DCSS, and others, you'll definitely want to pick this up at some point.
