the story seems cute, but migraine sufferers and people with other light sensitivity issues beware. there are often plain bright white screens as if you are being flash-banged and they made me feel very ill. the time i was able to play was pleasant other than that
The game exceeded my expectations "Lost Ember" captivates with its breathtaking graphics in a wonderfully diverse world. The visual design practically invites you to explore every corner of this fantastic landscape and lose yourself in the details. The fluid gameplay contributes to a relaxing yet never boring experience. The tranquil atmosphere of the game is enhanced by the lovingly crafted environments. The accompanying music is just as impressive and seamlessly integrates into the overall ambiance. It manages to amplify the emotions of the players and highlight the impactful moments of the game. The ending of the game was particularly impressive and left a lasting impression. It rounds off the entire experience in a way that stays with you long after playing. "Lost Ember" is a visual and emotional masterpiece that every player should experience.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

"You have two dawgs inside of you.. one that is lost and one that is an ember.." Disclaimer: Absolutely no hate to the developers at all, I'm sure everyone on the team worked very hard on it. I just realised after playing through it that it didn't vibe with me as I had hoped it would. I don't usually give bad reviews since I usually only write reviews for games that I adore. However, in this case, it's more so a feeling of disappointment rather than outright hating Lost Ember. As much as I wanted to love this game, I came out of it feeling like it missed its mark. Lost Ember is an adventure game that follows the titular characters, the wolf (controlled by you) and a lost orb that is trying to enter the City of Light. You will explore forests and ancient ruins while reliving memories of yore. The gimmick or selling point of this game is your ability to possess different animals and utilize their abilities to traverse the world. At first, I was drawn in by the pitch of shape-shifting into different animals to experience the world. However, the more I played the game, the more underwhelming it felt for me. The obstacles presented in the game are few and far between. Often times, the game feels like a sandbox where you can roam around while progressing the story. Morphing into different animals feels like a means to an end rather than something that requires you to think how to meaningfully interact with the world. Onto my next point, the worldbuilding. The areas you explore are distinct (except for the first 3 chapters). However, the interactions between the world and the animals are lackluster. You barely get to see the animals interact with their environment much. A lot of the times, they are just grouped together in a single area waiting for you, the player to morph into them. This made the world feel bland to me since animals are reactive instead of proactive in their behaviours. In a game focused on animals, the animals feel more like entities that move around doing nothing until they are needed by the player. Proceeding from there, let's talk about the story. Without getting into spoilers, it's an okay story. I wasn't really invested in the characters as much as I had hoped. It's a pretty simple story all things considered, you get to uncover the mysteries of the old civilisation as you progress through the game. Nothing much to add onto here. On my last point, I'd like to discuss about the collectibles. Oh the collectibles.. This game has by far the most collectibles I've had the displeasure of trying to find. I genuinely believe that if you were to attempt to find all of the items in the game blind, you'd be here forever. Even with a guide, it was still a slog to get through. I think the worst part about this all is one of the collectibles, the mushrooms. The game has different categories of collectibles for you to find, namely the mushroom and the relics. The relics are easy to keep track of since all of them are distinct. However, the same can't be said about the mushrooms. If you've forgotten which mushrooms you've already collected in any given chapter, you'll have to painstakingly backtrack because the game doesn't tell you which mushroom you haven't collected yet. To give the game some credit, it does keep track of how many collectibles you have left for each chapter. Overall, I'm not mad, I'm just mildly disappointed. Maybe I went into this game with wrong expectations. If anything I said over the past few paragraphs seemed interesting to you, do try it for yourself. I'm sure there are people out there that can appreciate it more than I did.
If you get motion sickness easily DO NOT play this! At least not without some accommodations to help. I generally either sat far away from the screen or took it in stages and took breaks often. I don't usually have this issue in third person POV games but something about this one really bothered me. That being said, I really liked the game. It has an amazing story and the concept was really fun. The art is also beautiful and incredibly well rendered. I think the game would really benefit from a mode that helps to lessen motion sickness if possible but overall a beautiful game.
Lost Ember:

2 or 3 stars : Huge world, huge let down the world is way too big relative to whats actually hidden around it. im obsessed with exploring every secret looking thing for treasure... so often found myself crawling into a nook or charging down a blatant looking side path... only to find a blank wall. it gives u lots of opportunity to free-roam for no reason. reminds me of being like 5 years old playing Ocarina of Time, and big bro getting me Epona and letting me run around Hyrule field doing nothing. no map either, so i just got lost going in circles looking for nothing. very buggy too, restarted checkpoints after getting stuck in walls. didn't finish, got too stressed thinking "there could be something over there... but probably not..."
I regret purchasing this game years ago as the time I actually enjoyed it was not enough to justify its cost.
I have actually Kickstartered it back in the day, because I really wanted to play a wolf and this kind game is something I love to play just to get out of the stress of RL and I wanted to support a new Indiegame company at the time with their first game. I do like story orientated walking simulators, even better if you play an animal. They are soothing, even if the stories are often quite sad. This one isn't any different. It still hit me the same the second time I played it. First time was on console (which I got through the kickstarter) so I bought it later on for Steam as well, since I'm mostly playing on computer now anyway and I really wanted to play it sometime in the future again (this time with trying to get everything, since I still missed quite a lot in my first playthrough, even with going through all kind of corners). I played it now, obviously, and like I said I still love it. Pretty sure I will come back to it at some point in the future to play it again, just for the soothing aspect of running around as all sorts of animals. It definitely has replayability for me, who loves these kind of games, even with having 100%-ed it now. I know it may not be the same for others, but this is my personal opinion. Though the macaws were sometimes a little harder to control than any of the other animals XD I don't mind the price either, since even 5 hours of story in a game (if you ignore everything else) is quite a lot and if you're interested in playing it, but the price is too high, there are always discounts at some point or another.
Game looked interesting at first but turned out to be quite boring. It's mostly a walking simulator, and while there's a big world, it is pretty empty. There's no reward for exploration so it all feels very linear. The story is OK, I wished there was more music, there was very little of it but it was good.
Story was very cliche and the game had a major bug with one of the animal mechanics that caused gameplay to be very awkward. Unfortunately this is a mechanic you get over 2 hours into the game. In general the controls felt very clunky, and the puzzles amounted to "use animal right next to obstacle". This is a collectathon where you can be awarded with items for checking out some of the subtle tunnels and crevices in the world. Unfortunately there are so many unintentional crevices and tunnels with invisible walls blocking them that finding the intentional crevices is a chore.
