My favorite part of the game so far was when I died in the same spot 9 times, but then I finally beat those enemies and they dropped a cool weapon and I went into my menu to equip it but got distracted by how many duplicates of other weapons I had so I tried to see if I could drop those duplicates and when I did I fell through the map to my death!!!!! Now I have to try and beat those enemies that killed me 9 times in a row and 2 hours of my time.......again! I quit and am uninstalling the game. I'm super happy I only paid 10 bucks for the game and now I see why it was 10 bucks.
Good Souls like with Clear downsides and flaws But solid game after all
A much better game than you might expect, and a very solid coop experience, you can even opt out of invasions. The difficulty is very reasonable and the game is a great introduction to Souls games.
very good
250+ hours later, I can confidently recommend Lords of the Fallen. This isn't a perfect game. I didn’t much like the 2014 “Prequel” and avoided the game at launch, thinking it be roughly the same. It isn’t, but I don’t regret starting playing with version 2.5. From what I heard, this LotF launched rough, some questlines are unnecessarily fragile, multiplayer can be quirky, and there are still moments where you'll wonder, "Who thought this was a good idea?" Yet somehow... I kept coming back. What started as "I'll probably do one playthrough to wean myself of Mortal Shell" turned into hundreds of hours, multiple endings, PvP, build experimentation, and one of the most memorable Soulslike experiences I've had in years. The combat has weight. Grand weapons feel appropriately devastating, shields are genuinely useful, and the weapon variety allows very different playstyles. I ended up falling in love with builds I never expected to enjoy. The world is another highlight. Axiom and in particular Umbral are more than just a gimmick—they fundamentally change how you explore, think about level design, and discover secrets. Even after hundreds of hours I was still finding things I hadn't seen before. That is a big, perhaps the biggest selling point of a good souls game—it has to have something that inspires you to pay ATTENTION, be it the world, the lore, gameplay or philosophy. Surprisingly, one of my favorite parts became PvP. Not because it's perfectly balanced—it isn't—but because it created memorable stories. Rivals you start recognizing, tense duels, unexpected moments of sportsmanship, and those rare fights where both players clearly know exactly what they're doing. Those are the moments that stay with me far longer than any particular weapon or armor set. That said, the game isn't without frustrations. Quest progression is often far too easy to fail without realizing it, sometimes only discovering the consequences dozens of hours later. If you're aiming for every quest or achievement, you'll almost certainly end up consulting a guide, and I think that's a shame because the world is at its best when you're simply exploring—which ties right back to my attention point. Still, the important question isn't whether I found flaws. It's this: After more than 250 hours, am I still logging in because I want to? Yes. Absolutely. I still enjoy to walk and watch, still spotting things that I have missed before. The world is BIG—and that’s not even counting in the second world within it. If you enjoy Soulslikes with dark fantasy atmosphere, satisfying combat, meaningful build variety, and don't mind a few rough edges, Lords of the Fallen is well worth your time. But don’t expect it to click instantly—it had to win me over, which took at least ten hours. If the sequel builds on this foundation while smoothing out some of the quest design and technical quirks, I'll be there on day one.
