About
You awaken on a strange island ruled by the enigmatic Lord Ambermaze. He has frozen time, turning the island into a trap where no one ages or dies, and bizarre creatures roam — twisted results of his magical experiments. Don’t be surprised if you encounter carnivorous plums, exploding pumpkins, or mutant wasps along the way!
The entire island is one sprawling maze teeming with odd and dangerous creatures: stink-spiders, acidic slimes, fire moths, chomping hives — and that’s just the beginning.
But you’re not defenseless. Armed with a magical sword, a sturdy bow, a reliable shield, and most importantly — courage — your hero is ready to outwit and defeat every threat.
You’ll also need agility and sharp wits. Beyond the toothy and spiky monsters, the island is filled with traps and obstacles: bottomless pits, thorny bushes, spike traps, and more. You’ll have to use your brain to get past them.
Even the boldest adventurer needs a break. Luckily, Lord Ambermaze is packed with mini-games and side activities.

Try your luck at shell games and hunt for treasure (just hope you pick the right chest — or risk singed eyebrows). Go fishing and you might catch a golden fish… or a golden coin… or a bomb. Depends on your luck.
Move ancient boulders in classic sokoban puzzles and try not to throw out your back. Solve color-matching puzzles, sliding tile challenges, and escape from rooms as dark as the belly of a mutant plum.
There’s more than just enemies on the island — you can find friends too. Meet charming ladies, each with her own backstory and personality. Give gifts and build a relationship with one (or all!) of them. After all, every hero deserves a loyal companion, right?
And it’s not just the ladies — the island is full of eccentric characters with stories to tell. Who is the stone golem and how did he end up like that? Why does the fisherman have so many clones, and what are they all trying to catch?
Play Lord Ambermaze and uncover every secret the island hides!

Abstract
A chest full of puzzles. So dense that the genre could be called arcade, despite the turn-based gameplay. Windows port works fine on Steam Deck out of the box (Proton 10.0-4) with external FHD (1920x1080) monitor, keyboard and mouse.
🐧 GNU/Linux
This game is about young man being surrounded by lusty 100-300 years old women
Lord Ambermaze is a clever indie adventure that blends dungeon crawling, tactical puzzles, and exploration into an experience that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly creative. Developed by Potata Company and published by HeroCraft PC, the game initially presents itself as a charming retro-inspired RPG, but beneath its colorful pixel-art style lies a surprisingly thoughtful and strategic adventure. Instead of focusing on fast-paced combat or complicated role-playing systems, Lord Ambermaze builds its identity around careful planning, environmental interaction, and a unique time-based mechanic that transforms every battle and puzzle into a tactical challenge. The story follows a young adventurer named Zeyn, who arrives on a mysterious island frozen in an unnatural state where time barely moves. Armed with the legendary Sword of Motion, he begins a journey to rescue his missing sister while uncovering the secrets hidden beneath the strange land ruled by the enigmatic Lord Ambermaze. The narrative itself remains fairly simple throughout most of the adventure, but the world and its inhabitants carry enough charm and mystery to keep exploration engaging. The island feels unusual from the start, populated by eccentric characters and strange creatures that hint at deeper secrets hidden beneath its cheerful appearance. The defining feature of Lord Ambermaze is its unusual time mechanic. Time only advances when the player moves, meaning enemies, traps, projectiles, and environmental hazards remain frozen until an action is taken. This instantly changes the flow of gameplay because every movement becomes important. Combat feels less like traditional action gameplay and more like solving a puzzle step by step. Players must think carefully about positioning, enemy behavior, and environmental dangers before committing to actions. Even simple encounters require planning once multiple enemies and hazards are introduced into a room. What makes the system so effective is how naturally the game expands its complexity over time. Early sections gently introduce players to movement-based combat and environmental interaction, but later dungeons become increasingly layered with hazards, enemy combinations, traps, and projectile patterns. Certain rooms almost feel like tactical chess puzzles where one wrong move can lead to disaster. The challenge steadily increases without becoming unfair because most failures clearly come from player mistakes rather than random difficulty spikes. Every successful solution feels rewarding because it relies on observation and strategy rather than reflexes alone. The dungeon design deserves particular praise because every area feels handcrafted with purpose. Rooms are carefully constructed around specific mechanics and enemy behaviors, ensuring that encounters remain interesting throughout the adventure. Exploration constantly rewards curiosity with hidden paths, optional treasure rooms, collectibles, and useful upgrades scattered across the island. The game also handles progression well by gradually unlocking new tools and abilities that open previously inaccessible areas, encouraging players to revisit older locations with fresh perspectives. This structure creates a satisfying sense of discovery that remains engaging from beginning to end. Outside of dungeon crawling, the game includes smaller activities and side content that help the world feel more alive. Fishing, mini-games, optional quests, and interactions with local residents provide relaxing breaks from the more demanding puzzle-focused gameplay. These moments add personality to the island and prevent the experience from becoming overly repetitive. Many characters are humorous or oddly charming, contributing to the game’s lighthearted tone even as the deeper mysteries of the island slowly unfold. Visually, Lord Ambermaze uses a retro-inspired pixel-art style that fits its gameplay perfectly. The environments are colorful and expressive without becoming visually overwhelming, which is important for a game centered around careful tactical movement and environmental awareness. Enemy designs are imaginative and memorable, ranging from bizarre magical creatures to strange mutated monsters that give the world a playful fantasy atmosphere. The visual style may intentionally resemble older adventure games, but it still feels polished and full of personality. The soundtrack complements the game’s atmosphere nicely with calm, adventurous melodies that reinforce the sense of exploring a mysterious frozen island. Music remains subtle enough not to distract from puzzle-solving while still giving each area its own identity. Sound effects also provide clear feedback during combat and exploration, helping players understand enemy movement patterns and environmental interactions. One of the game’s greatest strengths is accessibility. The controls are simple and easy to understand, and the turn-based nature of the time mechanic removes the pressure often found in action-heavy dungeon crawlers. Players can take their time analyzing situations before acting, making the game approachable even for those who normally struggle with difficult combat systems. At the same time, the later sections offer enough challenge to satisfy players who enjoy deeper tactical gameplay and puzzle-solving. Of course, the slower pacing may not appeal to everyone. Since every encounter revolves around deliberate movement and strategic thinking, players looking for fast action may find the gameplay too methodical at times. Some puzzles can also become fairly demanding later in the game, occasionally requiring repeated experimentation before the correct solution becomes obvious. Although the handcrafted dungeons remain enjoyable, extended sessions may cause the overall formula to feel somewhat repetitive for certain players. The story is another area where the game remains fairly lightweight. While the island and its mysteries are interesting, the narrative mostly exists to support exploration and gameplay rather than deliver emotionally complex storytelling. Players seeking deep character development or dramatic plot twists may find the writing charming but relatively simple. Despite these limitations, Lord Ambermaze succeeds because its core mechanic is genuinely inventive and consistently satisfying. The combination of tactical movement, handcrafted puzzle design, rewarding exploration, and charming presentation creates an experience that feels carefully crafted and refreshingly original. Every dungeon encounter becomes an engaging test of patience and strategy, while the island itself remains enjoyable to explore thanks to its secrets and atmosphere. For fans of retro-inspired adventures, tactical puzzle games, and thoughtful dungeon crawlers, Lord Ambermaze delivers a memorable experience filled with clever design and rewarding exploration. Its unique approach to combat and progression helps it stand apart from many modern indie RPGs, offering a slower but deeply satisfying journey built around strategy, curiosity, and experimentation. Rating: 8/10
Lord Ambermaze makes me feel like a genius and an idiot at the same time. Every trap is fair, but my brain isn’t.
