A fun little RTS game for 2 players that's easy to understand for casual players. You can create your own maps and scenarios with the editor.
This is a good game.
Lootfest wars is an amazing rts game, that is a hidden gem. Honestly I have no idea why this game isn't popular. It's fun to play singleplayer against the AI, which can be put on levels 1-5. Level 1 is pretty easy, and level 5 is nearly impossible. This game has tons of troops, and infinite replayability with the map creator. Which can make maps that are from 5x5 to 32x5 to 32x32. Get this game, it is 100% worth the $1.99

Lootfest Wars is a compact real-time strategy game developed and published by Fabian Jakobsson, known online as vikingfabian. The game attempts to reimagine the traditional RTS formula by stripping away much of the genre’s complexity and presenting a faster, more approachable experience. Rather than asking players to manage large armies, complex economies, and sprawling bases, Lootfest Wars focuses on quick tactical decisions and short competitive matches that are designed to be accessible even to players unfamiliar with strategy games. The central concept revolves around fast-paced matches where players compete for control of strategic points scattered across the battlefield. Instead of building large bases and gathering resources through workers, the game simplifies the economic system so that money automatically accumulates over time. This passive income system removes one of the most demanding elements of classic RTS games and allows players to concentrate entirely on positioning units and contesting objectives. Matches are intentionally brief, typically lasting only a few minutes. This condensed format changes the pace of strategy gameplay significantly. From the moment the match begins, players must make decisions quickly about where to deploy their units and how to contest the control points on the map. Because time is limited, there is little opportunity for slow expansion or gradual buildup. Instead, players are encouraged to think tactically and respond rapidly to their opponent’s actions. Victory is usually determined by territorial control. The map contains several flags or capture points that can be claimed by positioning units nearby. The player who controls the majority of these points when the match timer expires is declared the winner. This objective-based structure creates a constant tug-of-war between both sides, where players must decide whether to defend their existing territory or launch attacks to capture additional points. One of the game’s more interesting mechanics is its card-based unit deployment system. Instead of selecting units from a standard production menu, players receive a random selection of cards that represent different soldiers or structures. Each card allows the player to place a specific unit onto the battlefield. Because the available cards vary from match to match, players cannot rely on a single predictable strategy. They must adapt to whatever options appear in their hand and develop tactics around the units they are given. The roster of units and structures, while relatively small, provides a reasonable variety of tactical possibilities. Some units are designed for direct combat and can overwhelm enemy forces in open battles. Others function as defensive structures that help secure territory and slow down enemy advances. There are also support-style units that can influence the battlefield in different ways. Understanding how each of these elements interacts becomes a key part of developing effective strategies. Despite the game’s simplified mechanics, the strategic layer remains engaging because every decision carries immediate consequences. Deploying units too aggressively may leave important areas undefended, while focusing entirely on defense can allow opponents to capture more territory elsewhere. The short match length means that players must constantly balance risk and caution as they attempt to maintain control of the map. The game offers both single-player and multiplayer options. In single-player mode, players can practice against AI opponents to become familiar with the mechanics and experiment with different tactics. However, the real heart of the experience lies in multiplayer matches where two human players compete directly against each other. These battles tend to be far more dynamic because human opponents adapt their strategies in unpredictable ways. An additional feature that adds some longevity to the game is the inclusion of creative tools such as a map editor and voxel model editor. These tools allow players to design their own battlefields and experiment with custom environments. Once created, these maps can be used in matches against AI opponents. While the customization tools are relatively simple, they provide creative players with an opportunity to extend the game beyond its default content. Visually, Lootfest Wars adopts a colorful and minimalist style that fits its streamlined gameplay. Units and structures are represented by stylized models that are easy to recognize during fast-moving matches. The maps themselves are designed to emphasize clarity rather than visual complexity, ensuring that players can quickly identify important locations such as capture points and unit placements. The audio presentation remains straightforward, offering functional sound effects that accompany unit deployment, combat interactions, and territory captures. While the sound design is not particularly elaborate, it provides useful feedback during gameplay and helps maintain the rhythm of each match. Background music and ambient sounds contribute to the overall atmosphere without distracting from the strategy-focused experience. One of the biggest strengths of Lootfest Wars is its accessibility. Traditional RTS games often require extensive knowledge of complex systems and high levels of mechanical speed. By simplifying the economic mechanics and reducing the scale of battles, this game lowers the barrier to entry and makes the genre more approachable. New players can quickly understand the objectives and begin experimenting with tactics without needing to memorize complicated build orders. However, this same simplicity can also become a limitation over time. Because the number of units, maps, and mechanics is relatively small, experienced players may eventually feel that the strategic depth begins to plateau. After many matches, the available tactics can start to feel somewhat repetitive, especially for players who enjoy the intricate systems found in larger RTS titles. Another potential issue is the reliance on multiplayer participation. While the AI opponents provide a useful training environment, the game’s most exciting moments come from competing against other human players. Depending on the size of the player base at any given time, finding active matches can sometimes be difficult. Despite these limitations, Lootfest Wars succeeds in its goal of delivering a streamlined strategy experience that removes much of the intimidation often associated with the RTS genre. Its quick matches and simplified systems make it easy to jump into a game without committing a large amount of time. Ultimately, Lootfest Wars feels like a thoughtful experiment in making real-time strategy more accessible. By focusing on tactical decisions rather than mechanical complexity, it creates a game that is easy to learn yet still capable of delivering competitive moments. While it may not offer the depth or scale of more traditional strategy titles, it provides a refreshing alternative for players looking for a quick and approachable RTS experience. Rating: 6/10
"Lootfest Wars" is a really lame amateur made RTS game with some seriously bad graphics, and, surprise surprise, the gameplay is on-par with that. This features fairly low quality low poly/voxel style 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. Developers need to learn that Minecraft succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $2 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
Before I played Lootfest Wars, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
