About
Scientific spaceship Saratorum drifts near the planet Nadalon. An alien craft appears out of nowhere. All attempts at communication fail. Time passes, and crew members, one after another, start to act weird. It was already too late when you gathered your courage and decided to act.
Now only your weapon can help you warn your Homeworld about the alien threat.
Inspired by Zero Tolerance and classic retro shooters:
• 5 inventory slots to manage your equipment
• A wide selection of weapons
• Levels that demand different approaches and tools to complete - sometimes speed, sometimes caution, sometimes special gear
• Bosses and enemies with unique weaknesses and tactics
• Cutscenes connecting levels with the storyline

This isn't just a boomer shooter, it's an elder shooter. May recommend
If you've ever been interested in Zero Tolerance, a game with a cult classic following that is hard to emulate and even harder to play, then this is the game for you. It brings the original mechanics onto the PC (and the PSP), running on a charming and oft-frustrating (but never unfair) engine and increasingly varied and complex levels packed with enemies. The game is unforgiving, often painfully so, but certainly feels rewarding when you manage to beat one of its massive, labyrinthine levels. The mechanics are tough, but you don't know how good you have it if you've not been able to play a game like Zero Tolerance - strafing just works, you get a whole-level map that you can keep out while you navigate, and a question mark will appear on it if you're missing a few pesky enemies (around 4 or 5). Still though, the lack of any save/load mechanism at all may frustrate, especially when the Windows version could, or should, be much more flexible. Overall, this is a great game, a testament to an all-but-forgotten piece of gaming history, and something that the PSP users and pre-DOOM-mania curious must check out.

It is a Solo Developer passion project literally for PSP hardware. Inspiration comes from a game called Zero Tolerance for Sega Mega Drive. It is a FPS where your goal is to extinguish at full throtle but with a great care a hole bunch of levels of some dangerous, biologically infected and deformed creatures. Very pleasing experience with this one, can recommend. Also, if you want to, you can check PSP version on itch.io, here's the link - https://derivieragames.itch.io/locum-tenens Big thanks to the Dev - @Deriv'era and a lot of luck to him in the future, stay strong!
Gameplay is a 'boomer shooter,' (we're old but not boomers, :V) but at times feels more a survival horror when running low on health near the end of the relatively quick levels; the game autosaves every floor, no save-scumming possible or wanted for this kinda thing, it's a nice pressure to keep the player cautious and thinking more strategically; clearly a lot of thought and care went into the project, easy to differentiate between enemy types, no redundant weapons, launches and plays without issue on a couple of different non-Ubuntu Linux distros I tried it on. Marketing feedback for dev; I believe I saw something about it on Mastodon/Fediverse first of all, but then I followed the 'tube channel and it kept me reminded and interested. Depending on your circles on various Fediverse servers there's a built in audience of 'retro' tech nerds that might also enjoy this and future work, whether it targets the PSP or VIta, or something else entirely!
Not perfect but for the price this is an absolute steal! Great throwback and re-vitalization of the cult classic 'zero tolerance'. Highly recommend if you want a challenging boomshoot (no save scumming).
I’m not really a fan of this genre, but Locum Tenens unexpectedly hooked me. I jump into it now and then for 10–15 minutes, just to play at my own pace and stretch out the enjoyment. There’s a warm sense of nostalgia to it, like firing up something familiar from childhood, only cleaner and more modern. I like the atmosphere, the pacing, and the fact that it doesn’t put pressure on you like old-school shooters did - it actually feels relaxing. I think a lot of that comes down to the controls and sounds - they just feel really good. I’m genuinely glad I stumbled across this game.
The similarities to DOOM or Wolfenstein are worn on its sleeve but I found Locum Tenens still had something new to offer. As I progressed through the early levels I found a flow state and fell into a steady pace of dispatching enemies with precise, accurate shots and found myself predicting what the game would throw at me. I got gud. It was satisfying. Then I hit chapter two and the game absolutely rekd me and slowed progress to a halt. I persevered and pushed through. Then it did it again with a vengeance. I had to admit defeat. I’ll be back.
You wake up on a very creepy spaceship. Seriously, the atmosphere and soundtrack are really good. And somehow you end up moving down the empty hallway, and then you see it, a damn furry looking at you with those goofy eyes, and it sends a chill down your spine. Luckily, you're armed and drunk, and you decide to shoot the furry bastard into 10,000 pieces. and that's what the game is about, I guess, shooting your way through a furry convention in space, good luck.
If you love boomer-shooters, oldschool, sci-fi, and intrigue, then this game is definitely for you. Boomer-shooters aren't my genre of interest at all, but I got really hooked on the game. Even though I'm a very casual player, and the game doesn't forgive mistakes or delays in reactions, I really enjoyed it. +I'd like to learn more about the world inside the game and the story that takes place in it. So I hope there will be a lore drop in the nearest future Anyway, a hidden gem
A nifty little game, even if a bit janky, reminds me a lot of Doom64 with some Alien influence sprinkled in. A few gripes I had with it though were the one time where a group of enemies pushed a guy out of bounds when stacking the doors they can't open, forcing a level restart due to softlock. Probably either make them just open doors, or add a kill field to the out-of-bounds areas if better collision isn't possible. And the enemies just loving, loving to shoot from outside render distance, which honestly feels kinda cheap since they don't loose any accuracy at distance. It's especially bad with the first boss and the later levels where you get these acid attacks you can't possibly dodge from inside the render bubble since your hitbox is just that wide. And so you have to resort to cheese, since your weapons can also hit far outside the render distance, making it not very visually interesting to play in the long run. With the game already being pretty simplistic on that front given the hardware blasting blindly into the darkness isn't helping it any. There's also a bit of jank with the damage by the mobs affecting your movement momentum, which makes it kinda awkward to move around large crowds as they push you with bullets and even fully stop sometimes. But that's more of a mouse+keyboard issue since I'd assume you weren't supposed to move around much with PSP controls. As a side note, W+D (or A) boosts your forward movement speed like in some older titles what didn't have an acceleration check for that, not a con just thought I’d mention it. Edit: Oh, and the inventory scroll is inverted by default for the mousewheel with no ways to remap it. But ignoring the wall of text, I'm actually looking forward to whatever might come next, with the developer moving on to a more modern PS Vita console.
