Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.33/day in the week to Aug 4 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Live a Live is a touches my emotions in a way i don't get much of in media. From Imperial China being my most favorite because of legacy, Present for pushing the limits, Twilight Edo for ..... this one didnt hit for me, Distant Future for its takes on AI and life, Near Future for its love letter to mecha fans, Far West for its stoic and determined protag, Prehistory for its amazing narrative using no talking, and the final chapter for its ending messages for everything. the game is fantastic, the remaster is smooth and delivers the old game amazingly. I cant recommend this game enough. god bless.
I really appreciate how experimental Live-A-Live was for it's time in RPG history. With that said, I was hoping for a little more QoL improvements from the remake but it's mostly just a graphical overhaul and fresh translation. It retains a lot of tedious and repetitive event-flag stuff where you have to re-enter the same room or area sometimes several times in succession just to move the narrative along. With that complaint aside though, I'm grateful that it was reskinned and retranslated at all for an officially western release.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Not at all what I was expecting - maybe chose the wrong chapter to start with as it felt very slow in the beginning. Once I did push through a little and started doing more chapters, I felt way more engaged and loved the tone that was set. Emotions aside, great 2D-3D remake with nice surprises and (of course) amazing soundtrack!
The 23 hours I spent playing LIVE A LIVE felt like some of the longest 23 hours of my life, and I mean that literally, because I feel like I should have 60 hours in this game by now. It took me two full months to get through this very short game, and it felt like a chore every time I sat down to play it. I don’t dislike the concept at all, and I actually think it’s quite cool getting to have the JRPG experience placed into a bunch of different settings and time periods. However, I found most chapters getting tedious after just 10-15 minutes of playing, and unfortunately the stories weren’t captivating enough to keep me engaged. Everything just takes so long, from animations to leveling to traversal, and it doesn’t help that the objectives are often confusing and unclear. The combat, while a little interesting, also ended up being quite annoying most of the time. Pretty much every enemy in the game, bosses included, either dies in 2 hits or can kill you in 2 hits, with very little in between, meaning almost every fight either feels too easy or too hard. There’s a pretty insane base range for the damage of your attacks, and trying to account for stat buffs and weaknesses/resistances felt totally useless—I’d often deal more damage from a “low” damage attack on an enemy’s resistance, than a “high” damage attack on their weakness, without any explanation provided for why. Further, the way the turn system works is convoluted, and it was never clear to me when my characters would get to go next, because enemies’ bars would sometimes completely refill when mine didn’t move at all. The one saving grace of LIVE A LIVE is its music, because Yoko Shimomura created a masterpiece of a soundtrack for this game (as she always does). That, and the visual style—this game does have some pretty great cinematic moments, especially in the true ending route. But honestly, it was just a chore to play, so I can’t really recommend it.
A fun game if you're a diehard RPG freak who wants to enjoy an retro game they missed in the SNES era, but it definitely is an acquired taste. Each character's scenario can be relatively unique, but because of this, some of them weren't given as much attention as others, and most of them are over before you even realize it. The old school game design also gets in the way more often than not, i.e. the weirdly grindy "crafting and upgrading systems"; plus the old RPG crutch of "just do high level ability & healing spam" being the most effective strategy. I say play it to experience a lost RPG that was never translated to English in the golden age of SNES RPGs, then carry on.
It's kinda like "Chrono Trigger lite." It's not great, it's just kinda ok. Just go play Chrono Trigger instead. F#!# this game.
