C A T

You are a cat, you do cat things 10/10
This game is very charming and cozy. Running around knocking stuff over, stealing food, tormenting the local bird population, recycling, and otherwise being a general menace. The movement feels surprisingly good, the city is fun to explore, and getting distracted on the way to objectives feels intentional and immersive instead of annoying. This short and cozy game was a delight to play <3

A casual game in which you control a cat exploring an urban neighbourhood, along the way helping other animals and causing chaos.

Little Kitty, Big City starts off with its protagonist falling from the window of their owners flat, tumbling down onto the streets of Japanese city. From there, you're free to explore the location and platform across the various objects filling it, trying to find a way back up to your home. To do so, you're required to help other animals spread throughout the city streets, which involves retrieving items, completing small puzzles or reaching specified locations in return for various rewards that help you expand your skill set. These tasks bring some decent variation, though I they're also rather basic and probably won't manage to surprise you. The area you can access is initially rather limited, opening up further and further as you progress and find certain collectibles to essentially open gates or improve your climbing ability. The latter option is essentially your main form of progress, with the game requiring you to eat fish spread throughout the city in order to raise the heights you can reach and eventually allow you to return home. As you progress you also unlock a fast travel system, though I rarely used it thanks to the overall compactness of the map. Platforming makes up the lion's share of the gameplay, having you jump your way across various obstacles. This is rarely too difficult and I personally found the biggest challenge to be judging what jumps you can actually make. Little Kitty, Big City allows you to hold the jump button for a visualization of where you'll be going, though this isn't always accurate and noticeably slows down traversal. Some sections of the map are restricted to you, featuring humans who'll grab your cat on sight and bring you outside the respective area. This makes for a neat change of pace, as you're required to go fast or stealth your way around, without being too annoying. While the game’s setting of is somewhat limited, the city is surprisingly varied, letting you explore various shops, a playground, rooftops, flats and more, which worked well to keep me engaged. To further encourage exploration, the entire map is littered with Shinies. These are collectibles found lying around and rewarded for various activities, like ruffling through trash, catching birds etc., with their most important use being to unlock a large number of hats for your cat to wear, some of which can also be found out in the open. Beyond these, you can also unlock emotes and "collect" certain interactable spots spread around the map. Besides these, there's also a list of tasks for you to complete, either having you use different game mechanics or performing certain actions a number of times. These frankly don't offer much merit, as they don't come with any rewards, with some requirements also being set way too high, requiring grinding. In contrast, the game's proper tasks not only reward you with fun conversations but also unlock hats, emotes and more. This isn't a deep game by any means, but certainly works as a well-executed cat sim, in which you can feel the heart its developers put in at every corner. The game perfectly captures the feel of being a roaming cat causing trouble - most notably by knocking over any small objects on your path, resulting in in shattered flowerpots, knocked over chess sets and more, which never got old for me. The characters you meet on your journey can hardly be called fleshed-out, but feature fun personalities and decently witty exchanges. My biggest gripe with them is that certain dialogues simply drag on too long considering what little substance they actually convey, with some references also being a bit too silly for my liking. That being said, I quite enjoyed the personality of the main character, with it being playful yet never too silly. A recent content update added the ability to customize your character, letting you create intricate designs with layered fur patterns and mark stamps. You can also freely choose main and accent colours for every part of your kitten, which makes for a surprisingly deep system. Presentation-wise, the game features simple but very crisp graphics, which look great. There are a few very scenic areas to explore, though some parts of the city are also rather bland, sadly matching their Japanese template a bit too closely. As for audio, the game's sound design isn't exceptional but does a good job at conveying the feel of the busy city around you. There's also some light background music, which fits the game's vibe but didn't particularly stand out to me.

Little Kitty, Big City is a very fun game that makes for a great diversion without overstaying its welcome.

Nice, cosy little puzzle platformer
I love this game so much, it reminds me of the game 'stray' but a lot happier and more colorful!! It's so fun to play around with the looks of my cat in tanuki's workshop! It's also very simple and straight forward with what you have to do.
Little Kitty, Big City, is simply one of the cutest games ever put to binary. Everything down to the animations and dialogue has been crafted with the greatest passion and love for cuteness that one can imagine. The game looks great. The animations are great. The game controls really well, with realistic kitty weight but without compromising the feel. The gameplay loop is simply divine, a collectathon with the most adorable main character??? Speaking of characters, the other characters in this game are adorable too, with silly little side stories that never failed to make me smile. The music is really calming jazz that melted into the background in the most relaxing way possible. I absolutely adore this game, it's quite literally purrfect!!! If you like smiling and making cute little giggles at cute little sillies then this is the game for you! The keybind for sprinting is even called zoomies!!!! :DDDDDDDDD
