Not only is Frankie, the adorable Golden Retriever, a firefighter, but he also drives the fire engine. What a hero! Quite a feat considering he only has little legs. No, he doesn't wee on the fires but uses the fire fighting equipment at his disposal like water hoses, CO2, and water bombs. Frankie is being kept busy by three pyromaniac birds who are dropping Molotov Cocktails on the local infrastructure, and crapping on them too for good measure. Frankie must drive around looking for fires to extinguish before they get worse and banish those naughty birds. Game play involves driving around in your fire truck looking for fires to put out. You have a map which shows where the fires are located and you can set waypoints on the map and then follow the big yellow arrow to the fire, although I found that setting the waypoint didn't always work for some reason. Once you are at the fire you must put it out using water or CO2, if it is an electrical fire, then you are rewarded with prize money which you can spend on upgrades to your fire engine and equipment. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3628137119 Upgrades include a bigger water tank and more powerful water jets, and water bombs which douse fires with water. When your water tank has been used up you will need to find a water hydrant to fill it up again, however there is an upgrade that automatically does this for you, but it is very slow and gets delivered by a drone, and most of the time I got fed up with waiting and did it myself, especially as it only fills a fifth of your tank up at a time. Your fire engine can be upgraded too with better brakes, handling, and a turn of speed. To begin with the fire engine drives like a sack of spuds and although these upgrades didn't turn it into a mean machine, you can certainly notice the difference when fully upgraded. To upgrade you will need to go back to the fire station which is easier said than done because I could not set a waypoint for my station so I ended up accumulating lots of money rather than try and find it. This resulted in me getting a fully upgraded fire engine at the death of the game, so an instant return to station might be a welcomed addition for those regular updates. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3628082191 Driving around the city is a bit of a pain because traffic is always backed up on the narrow streets because a car has got stuck on terrain and the camera angle seems to get confused by large infrastructure often leaving you blind for a few seconds whilst you try and recover the view. For some reason, your fire engine does not have enough horse power to go up steep hills which means you often have to navigate around hills, even when there is a road on them! I got stuck on things like hills and railway tracks and there is no reset button, or quit button for that matter, so I had to shut down the game through the task bar. The game seems to save regularly though so I reconvened at the same state of play. There are a few different camera angles you can use and you can turn on the sirens although it's a shame that the static traffic don't seem to want to move over for you. That would have been fun. The game can be used with a controller or keyboard and I opted for the controller but I found the water jet was difficult to control with the controller and often had to revert to the mouse to aim the water jet with any accuracy. This led to a bit of frustration because the fire engine was always creeping forward or backwards and I had to keep swapping controls to stop this happening. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3628137375 There is a little story running through the game which was quite delightful and cute and although there are a few issues with the game they didn't really distract me too much and I had a lot of fun playing the game. It's a bit like a relaxing simulation type game because putting out fires feels very relaxing and you're doing good around the community to boot. At the end of the game there is an endless mode which lets you appreciate the scenery, putting out fires, and looking for 50 cats which are hidden throughout the map. There's quite a lot going on like a train going around, planes landing and taking off and you must go visit the roller coaster for a special treat. There's quite a bit of playability after the story ends.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Fire Fighter Frankie has a few minor control issues and minor annoyances here and there but overall I enjoyed the three hours it took me to complete the game. The game feels quite basic in some areas but reasonably impressive in other areas, like the voice acting, and overall it is an enjoyable package with a rather cute dog and story. I think children would particularly enjoy this but it's appealing to all ages and is a relaxing and fun experience.

Thank you for reading my review. Hab da schon mal was gelesen hier in bestimmten Foren. PS.
Honestly the more I play this game the more interesting it gets, so I feel the need to deep dive a bit, I don't think I'll change my review to negative after my discoveries cause again, its $2, but man I started to just get a sizable laugh at whats going on in this game. I played the demo and the game ends shortly after the airport, the game at best has maybe 30mins of content past the demo's end point. If you've played the demo you've played the majority of the game which is weird. I honestly feel like they just gave up making more and quickly tried to make an ending for the game. This is also backed up if you start exploring places the game doesn't explicitly direct you to. there's stuff like a nearly barren neighborhood save for a single farmhouse behind the mountain, a second race track which only half of it has proper collision and a rocket launching station that you'd think would have been used in the game as locations, but they are unfinished so they can't be. Another thing is a lot of tiling just connected to nowhere, with the world not having proper world boarders in many places, just ending straight up void. Traffic breaks constantly and the train doesn't properly go into tunnels, instead clipping above it. I found houses that only render their textures at certain camera angles and a bug with the upgrade system that can leave you unable to buy every single upgrade in the game. I really don't want to negative review a $2 game since it feels petty. If the dev reads this, at the very least you could fix the game's clear jank all over the place if you don't want to finish the unfinished missing areas, at least finish them enough they at least aren't glitchy and make the world feel coheisive. fix the missing textures and collision. I mean you have a collectable cat in the middle of race track with half its collision missing, making the logical way you'd get onto the track to reach the cat instead dump you into the void. I had to use a janky trick way in instead on a game that claims its a "tight experience". Fix up the problems and make it a true tight experience if for nothing else but your own pride as a dev.
Original review
Reasonably high levels of jank, but what can you expect for $2? I wanted a simple game where you put out fires and it delivers that, to expect any more than that for $2 would be kinda silly. so if you ignore the jank the game has here and there the game is perfectly fine for its asking price.
Fun little relaxing game. Dogs always +1 Update after playing more: Although it may be a challenge, it is definitely possible to find all the cats and get all the achievements. :)
Frank +1
Nice game about a dog that is living his dream as a firefighter. There are a lot of fires to put out. But why so many?! That is all in the storyline. Its about 1,5 hour gameplay. Nice work!
Very fun game! A firefighting dog who also splashes cats in his downtime
Saw someone say they won't give a $2 game a bad review, so I will. It starts off chill and straightforward: you drive around, put out fires, earn money, upgrade the truck. Simple, right? Well, then for some reason there's boss battles against birds that throw bombs at things, and the only way to defeat them is to spray them out of the air with water. Problem is, the reticle to aim doesn't actually aim at what you're pointing at, and the hitboxes are so damn small and it's also a moving target. The map is atrocious. If you so much as tap a car with a pixel of your bumper, it'll destroy the engine and you have to respawn at the closest firehouse (assuming you have it unlocked). A lot of the map is actually unfinished. Third person is horrendous if you drive under a bridge. The truck handles horribly even with all upgrades (it can't even drive up hill roads, seriously?) Oh, and there are supposedly "50" collectible cats around the map for an achievement. Yeah, no, there are actually 49, unless the last one just conveniently is supposed to spawn in the unfinished portions of the map, where there are literal tiles of ground missing that drop you straight into a void, or one section where there's an invisible barrier preventing you from getting to it (why are there two race tracks on the map anyway?). It's abundantly clear that there's supposed to be a lot more to the map, judging by the countless vacant city blocks. For a game that's supposed to be chill and relaxing, while it is cute, is actually extremely frustrating. For as simple of a game as it is, even if it's only $2, why on earth is it being sold incomplete?
