Once upon a time, a little boy from our world found himself in another, more mystical world where a magical crown made him ruler over a floundering kingdom called Alpoko. You are this little boy, and it's your duty to make Alpoko great...so you can then expand its dominion and take over the world!

One of the best Wii games ever. And one of my all-time favorites. In Little King's Story, you play a little king (no sh*t) trying to expand his kingdom. This means lots of exploration, conquest, fighting (especially against other kings), and sending disciples to crash into walls (yes). There are tons of varied quests, you gradually expand your territory and build buildings, search for treasures to sell, attack all sorts of enemies, rescue princesses, and assemble teams of soldiers, farmers, miners, hunters, lumberjacks, carpenters, and more to help you and do the work for you (well yeah, I'm the king, I'm not gonna tire myself out when I have people working for me). The game is EXTREMELY fun and addictive. It's challenging no matter the difficulty level (though they do matter), and it takes time to finish it, especially to get 100% completion, but it's worth it. I think one of the game's greatest strengths is how consistently enjoyable it is from beginning to end. The game is very, very complete. In addition to what I've already mentioned, you can collect taxes from people, marry off villagers and make them have children (no, you can't watch), recruit villagers from other regions, build a flying machine and pilot it while being attacked by pencils, cakes, and rocks, upgrade your soldiers' equipment, and much more. The game's style is very original and fun, the boss fights are all very different and memorable, the music is great, the story seems basic but becomes really cool at the end. It's pretty much a perfect game. That being said, I've never seen a PC port so poorly designed for a game. The game crashes on launch, when starting a game, during boss fights, and so on. And no matter what settings you use, it makes absolutely no difference. There are a few graphical glitches, but that's a minor detail compared to everything else. The game is sometimes smooth and fast, sometimes very slow. Again, it's very random, sometimes it depends on the area, but I haven't really tried to figure it out. During the final boss fight (good luck getting there under those conditions), there's a phase where, randomly (yes, again), I die, even though I have full health. It just gives me a game over screen for no reason and there's nothing I can do about it. Sometimes when I launch the game there's music, sometimes it's complete silence. And of course, it's completely governed by chance (got tired of saying "random"). And despite that, as I write this review, I have about 100 hours in the game. It's that good. That being said, I can't recommend the Steam version. Play it, you won't regret it, but play it elsewhere. Don't spend 15 euros on this. I think I have a toxic relationship with a Steam game.
FUN LITTLE GAME.
Having played the original on wii, this is an okay port. game is still fun.
Game works fantastic for me and is just how I remember it on the WII
awful port that crashes constantly especially past one point and renders itself useless
