7/10 A good and challenging logic game. What is it: A logic game in which you must place squares with different colors in their corners on a grid so that all adjacent corners have the same color. There are markers on the edges of the grid as well, indicating which color must be in that spot, which is the first clue for starting to solve a level. The first half of the levels felt a lot like Aurora Bound (or Aurora Hex but with squares), except that all the tiles are already in the grid, you must shift them into the proper place. Some pieces are stuck in place, but most pieces can be rotated and can swap places with one of their neighbors. Later on, regions are introduced, which limit moving pieces only inside their starting region. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3304425740 Things get a lot more interesting at level 19 with the introduction of a new mechanic: divide platforms. These can be empty, and when you drag a piece unto it, it splits that piece into two, cloning each half to make two new whole symmetrical pieces. And you can drag a piece out onto another piece if both of them are symmetrical. This mechanic is quite challenging to understand and use, but there's a help screen dedicated to it with lots of explanations and examples. You can use it to
change the order of the corners, change the balance of colors, duplicate tiles, split and merge tiles, create or destroy tiles, or in general create new tiles with the exact colors you need
, if you can figure out the correct sequence of steps. At level 33 another mechanic is added, copy platforms. This kind of spot copies a tile dragged onto it, or merges two identical tiles back into one. And lastly, level 44 introduces the half copy platform, which only copies half of a tile, and you can copy two individual halves to form a new composite tile. The final levels use all these mechanics combined in “hard levels”, although I found these merely big, but not as challenging as the levels around 30. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3304425817 Personally I enjoyed this for the puzzles, but the game is lacking a bit of quality because it is also a phone game. There is no undo, it has a cumbersome prev/next level select, and a very minimal UI. While these are bad, they aren't critical flaws. No action is irreversible, so you can “undo” by doing your past actions in reverse. And there is a level select, it’s just cumbersome to use. I understand that it's easier for a developer to have a single codebase and a familiar interface across all devices, but developers should also understand that a computer is not a phone. How hard is it: Very easy to hard, a good spread, although the difficulty jumps around a lot. How long is it: 56 levels, 2-4 hours, must be done in order, no skipping allowed. Level design: Good. Varied levels, interesting mechanics, and enough clues to solve each level logically. I think the order of the levels could be improved a bit. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3304425835 Quality: Good levels, pleasant graphics, decent settings, just a few things to complain about. No undo, no mid-level progress saving on quitting. Cumbersome level select. Works with mouse, keyboard and controller, and the controls are fully configurable. Not everything works with a controller though. Good audio and video settings. No dark mode, but it isn't terribly bright. Colorblind friendly. Cloud saving, progress achievements. Small, fast and responsive. Worth the price: Yes, if you don't mind the lack of features I mentioned, but I would like to see it improved. Most positive aspect for me: Challenging puzzles. Most negative aspect for me: No undo. What would make it better: Undo. Swap the order of the mechanics, I think it should be yellow copy, green half copy, and finally blue divide. Progress saving between sessions. A proper level select. Progress reset and multiple profiles. Hints, the option to skip a few levels, or even an Unlock All button in the settings. Dark mode. Add a way to reach the help button with a controller, and to switch levels. Also use the left joystick for moving the selection, not just the d-pad. Use the shoulder buttons and triggers to turn pieces too. On the Steam Deck don’t disable the touchscreen. Level editor and Steam workshop integration. Random and daily levels. Also consider: AuroraBound and Aurora Hex, very similar to the first part of the game, with a lot more levels.
Difficulty : 2.5/5 (A bit Hard) Global : 2/5 (Good) Curator page : Anokturnus Lines On Sides is a minimalist puzzle game in which you have to rearrange tiles to match the symbols on the sides. Each tile is composed of 4 sub-tiles. You can move and rotate the tiles but the sub-tiles are fixed (at least at the beginning). The game is balanced, the first half is rather boring because it's just pure observation but the second half introduces some interesting mechanics. You'll be able to split the content of a tile in two, copy a tile etc; the game shows its true colors. And it's actually good! There are some pretty hard levels in there, though nothing will really be a problem if you just analyze and deduce carefully. You'll only start being in trouble if you carelessly manipulate the tiles without a clear plan : there's no undo button so it can get messy if you just try things randomly. The game isn't there to trick you or to be unfair, most of the tiles only need to be moved and only a few of them actually need to be tampered with. Lines On Sides is a good game with an interesting concept. If you like that kind of minimalist and purely logical puzzle game, it's a safe bet. Recommended.
Lines on Sides is a deceptively simple yet profound puzzle game that challenges your spatial reasoning and logical thinking. It's a minimalist gem that, while seemingly straightforward, offers a depth and complexity that will keep you captivated for hours. At its heart, Lines on Sides presents you with a grid of colored tiles. Your objective is to arrange these tiles so that the colors or patterns of the adjacent sides match. When you've successfully aligned the tiles, black lines appear, indicating a correct match. The game offers no tutorials or hand-holding, allowing you to discover the mechanics on your own. This minimalist approach might initially seem daunting, but it’s refreshing in a gaming landscape often cluttered with excessive tutorials. The core mechanic is intuitive, and the satisfaction of solving a puzzle is immensely rewarding. With 56 entertaining levels, Lines on Sides is a puzzle lover's delight. It shares a similar history with classic titles like Microsoft's TetraVex and AuroraBound Deluxe, but it carves its own unique place. As the levels progress, the puzzles become increasingly intricate. What starts as a gentle introduction to the mechanics soon escalate into complex spatial challenges that will test your patience and problem-solving skills. There's a genuine sense of accomplishment when you finally crack a particularly stubborn puzzle. The game's minimalist aesthetic contributes to its addictive nature. The clean interface and absence of distractions create a focused environment perfect for deep thinking. The lack of time pressure allows players to immerse themselves in the puzzle without feeling rushed. While Lines on Sides is undoubtedly a fantastic game, it's not without its minor drawbacks. The lack of difficulty levels might frustrate some players, as some puzzles can be quite challenging. Additionally, locking a correct piece down, a hint system or undo could have been beneficial. Overall, Lines on Sides is a testament to the power of simplicity. A shining example of how a simple concept can be transformed into an intellectually stimulating game. It rewards careful observation, logical thinking, and patience. While it shares similarities with other puzzle classics, it offers a distinct and rewarding experience. If you're a fan of puzzle games that challenge your mind without overwhelming you, this game is highly recommended. Fun little game with soothing music and sounds. Starts very easy and then gets more challenging as you go. If you like puzzle games you won't be disappointed.
This is a lovely puzzle game, and the hard levels are fairly challenging. Doesn't have an "undo" button, [strike] or a level select screen,[/strike] which is inconvinient. [strike]A "help" button appears after the platform rules are introduced, and this is, probably, the biggest ussue I have with the game. There are three different types of platforms. When another one is introduced, the text in the "help" menu changes from the previous platfrom's rules, to this one. If you need to check out the rules for the previous platfrom, you need to go back (no level select menu) to the levels where it was inroduced and then forward to the current puzzle. This is a wierd design choice, and it would be way better to simply add more rules as you progress in the game or to have a special menu option, that shows all the rules.[/strike] The majority of my critiques have been fixed. There is a level select now, and rules have tabs for different types. Also, some new levels have been added. I love when devs pay attention to their games and add quality of life features!
A relatively short and sweet puzzle game with a handful of challenging levels that require a bit of planning. The mechanics are pretty interesting to play and work with. I wish that there was an undo button and that I could drag the tiles more than one space at a time, but those are pretty minor complaints considering how good the game is overall.
规则很好,难度太低,许多方法组合起来可以制造谜题,但是这50多个题只是简单的定义使用
It's a neat and relaxing little puzzle game. Definitely worth a try.
