"Lilith" is a garbage barebones Unreal asset flip with, somehow, even lower quality than most Russian asset flip scams. At least they're not trying to charge money for this dumpster fire? What do you do in the game? Experience the joy of a basic Unreal third person brawler blueprint. With crappy assets on it. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
Before I played Lilith, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna. Juan 3:16
First impressions
The gameplay feels pretty nice, though there are several ways the game could be improved : - the lack of a mouse sensitivity option is crippling, especially since the default sensitivity is super high, meaning that to have control over the in-game camera you need to manually lower your mouse sensitivity to such a degree that it is painful to do anything other than playing the game - it would feel much less clunky if the character's orientation always followed the cursor - the game freezes for a second when exiting wolf form, which is always frustrating - there seems to be a lot of jumps that are barely above double-jumping height, which is again frustrating (might be a skill issue on my end) - the object throwing mechanic feels unintuitive and honestly superfluous, though the aforementioned character orientation change may partially fix this - finally, I'm writing this as my character is falling off the map through a hole in the ground, and there is no kill floor so I'm just falling infinitely and will need to restart the first level in its entirety due to the lack of "reload from last checkpoint" option in the menu (also the game crashed when I fell too far) Overall, combat is a solid 7/10, would probably be a 9 if character orientation followed the mouse. Exploration / platforming isn't this game's strong suit but it's not too bad either, 5/10. Economy / items are something I'll write about when I get a bit more experience, it looks simple but promising.
Review after finishing the game
- All the points stated before still hold - The game felt a bit too easy for me overall, I did make fairly liberal use of the large healing items but pretty much didn't use anything else. I like the existence of a difficulty where you can just mindlessly kill stuff but the possibility of more challenge could be nice. Said challenge should probably come from increased enemy numbers and damage but not health (exception is the minibosses which should definitely get more health). - The character gets locked into her animations for a bit too long at the end of each attack combo in my opinion, making the otherwise very satisfying combat a bit clunky. - Having slightly different sound effects for the different attacks would do wonders to make the combos more intuitive - The. F***ing. Beam. Guys. Are. So. Annoying. They'd be much less so if the beam didn't stagger you for what feels like a full second whenever it gets anywhere near you. - The final boss was at the very least unintuitive to me,
I had a lot of trouble distinguishing between the bits of the boss that could actually be damaged and those that stuck out but had no hitbox
- In general the game feels janky like you'd expect from a free indie game, with levitating buildings, enemies spawning in trees, camera going through the floor, places where you can get stuck indefinitely... Combat is still 7/10 with strong potential. Exploration is 3/10, seems a bit pointless and while the environments are mostly functional, they don't necessarily warrant a mission where you thoroughly explore an area. Platforming is 7/10, the wallrunning could be a bit more fluid. Items are 6/10, a bit pointless for my playthrough but they generally do what's expected, nothing especially good or bad. TL:DR : Combat is good and could be absolutely awesome, the rest is okay-ish, overall it's janky like a free indie game
