About

Lightning Katana is a fast-paced action FPS with hype parries, and even hyper combos inspired by the likes of Hotline Miami, Doom Classic, Katana Zero, and Devil May Cry.
Slash, Parry, Shoot and Dodge Roll your way through the Neo-Nippon Yakuza to avenge your pet Dogsuke and take on the top brass and baddest hit squad in all of Neo Nippon, the Ryujin Ichizoku!
Featuring:
Always be moving with quick dodge rolls and perfect parries to slash your way through the Neo-Yakuza stronghold. Hesitation can mean death, and you go down almost as fast as your enemies, so be careful as a well placed parry is the only way to recover health.
Defeat empowered enemies to temporarily gain their abilities. Shoot a powerful lightning bolt that fries anything in its path, or ride the winds of Fujin to slice through any yakuza that stand in your way.
Chain together kills to earn S, SS and P ranks in each level and earn Schmunny to buy new levels, or try your hand at Gauntlet Mode to earn Bones for some decorations in the Hub.
Each level is hand-crafted with a different mechanic or idea in mind, be it slicing through as fast as you can with an array of well timed abilities, or kicking molotovs into your enemies' faces. See if you can master them all for the illustrious P-Rank!

Wow. One of the most satisfying fps games I’ve played. I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME. The soundtrack. The characters. THE GAMEPLAY. Take the satisfaction of Katana zero and put it into a FPS. The pace of the game is fire. slicing 5 people at the same time and scraping out of a level with being so close to dying. I finished most of the game in about a week and I wanted to perfect every level. Had a lot of fun playing this game.
This game moved so smoothly and the aesthetics were on point, it felt like such a great hybrid of arcade style gaming and modern indies. It took me a second but once you get into the momentum it feels like such a fluid kill fest. I loved some of the random 2000s references and the finger guns were a hilarious way to do the gun. The tutorial level felt well balanced and did a great job of teaching me all the base mechanics. I dont want to give too many things away so i'll just leave it at being a great romp that sets you up for success.
If you like the fast paced and time attack aspects of Neon White as well as the insanity of Doom's combat, this is absolutely the game for you. Right off the bat this game does not hold ANY punches in its expectations of the player. Be prepared, this game is certainly TOUGH, but in all the best "I cannot play the next level until I improve my time" ways. I found myself repeatedly trying to bring my times down on just the tutorial levels. Every stage is designed with so much intent and care; from enemy placement to power up appearances for fun chains and combos. There are even some silly easter eggs and memes to come find for those who want to go looking for them. Props to this small team, they absolutely crushed it. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up and master it!
Incredibly fun game. fast paced, tight controls, everything feels intuitive. By the second level I felt all the mechanics start to click, and I got so hyped the first time I hit a parry on my last bit of HP to kill the last enemy and get my first P rank.
Given that this game was done with such a small team, here is my review. Gameplay 9/10 - VERY fun (yet punishing) to play especially going through hordes of enemies. If you're looking for a challenge, you'll have plenty to look forward to. Doom with Katanas. Music 10/10 - Music slaps. Graphics 8/10 - Great pixel art. Some parts felt very polished while others were kept very simple. Also had some good memey bits. All works for what it is Doge 10/10 Overall 9/10 Lightning Katana was a blast to play. Slight learning curve but you'll be feeling unstoppable in under 30mins. Boss felt like 2D Elden Ring.
Quick review: Fast-paced, addicting, and well thought-out. Definitely recommend! Played for an hour so far. Enjoying it! New mechanics are clearly explained as you go. The rate of skill acquisition and difficulty progression is challenging yet satisfying. Seems like it has good replayability, as it was still fun to go back to previous levels to achieve a better score. The characters are cute. I love the dog shop keeper! Looking forward to more cool games from this developewp
Love the game! From the finger guns to the epic music to the cute doggie shopkeeper, this game is very aesthetically pleasing and pretty fun. Also nice shout out to the Caribbean with the final boss!
Fast-paced action with a katana and finger-gun that makes you feel like you're a ninja on a mission. Great game if you're looking for a retro-feel with not overly-complicated mechanics.
Love this game! The graphics are kewt and the dialogue is cheeky. The game is easy to get into while still being challenging! Congrats team on the release!!!
