Reviews
I've had one too many jump scares to call this game chill haha, it's really fun! As someone who doesn't LOVE horror games, this one definitely came in as a good surprise. Think there's a good universe here, would love to see more of it (either in future updates or a sequel). Pick this one up if you're looking for a few hours of good times, single-digit jump scares, and want to support a small-dev (I think this was made by 1 person)!!
I'm a big fan of puzzle games and this game had a couple of puzzles in it that were enjoyable to figure out. Also the pressure of the monster getting to you did not help. It had a few really good jump scares that had my friends all laughing at me as I played through this for them. Definitely fun for a night where you just want to play a shorter game and entertain yourself and your friends for a few hours.
Pretty fun puzzle game with jumpscares!
Big fan of the game, I like the idea of the puzzles, gives me amnesia vibes, but would love to see a story added like amnesia, maybe just some notes thrown around a little bit more engagement on that side. I like the puzzles, they are clever but understandable given some time and though I would love to see a bit more of the game built out, but it was a fun experience!
Friend of the developer. Mostly a puzzle game with a few jump scares throughout. The puzzles were not overly difficult but they did make you stop and think, which I feel makes a good puzzle. There is a story to follow that was actually interesting and I was looking forward to finding the next scroll that contained it. Overall it was a fun game that took about 2 hours to complete.
This game was an enjoyable experience from start to finish. The puzzles are smartly designed, challenging, and the subtle horror elements create a tense, stressful atmosphere that keeps you on your toes. Although the overall playtime is around 2–3 hours, the experience feels unique and consistently entertaining. I genuinely hope the developer continues to build on this foundation with additional levels or new content. There’s a lot of potential here, and I’m excited to see what Shire Brew has in store for the future.
Lightkeeper's Curse is a puzzle game with horror elements to it made by a single developer who I am friends with. The first two levels are intentionally easier to introduce the player to the mechanics. I highly recommend reading the scrolls you'll find hidden throughout the levels as there is a story going on in the background that improves the experience. I will warn you the fourth level can be punishing but the last level is by far my favorite. There is a deathless run achievement but the labyrinth kills me most times.
This game definitely leans more towards being a puzzle game than a horror game, but it is refreshing to see as someone who plays a lot of horror. However, that doesn't mean it isn't scary. What it lacks in horror, it compensates with an eerie and unsettling ambiance that makes you fearful for whats around the next corner. The core game play loop revolves around avoiding staying in the dark for too long while placing red orbs in their correct places and pulling all the levers. While this sounds relatively simple, the levels are very well designed and get progressively harder. Some levels can be frustrating at the beginning but feels very rewarding when you figure it out. Overall a pretty enjoyable game that isn't just your typical walking simulator horror games.
Overall a great game, especially if you like puzzles games with some horror. The perfect game to play through a weekend. A couple hours of entertaining game play, which is refreshing especially with all of the endless content out these days. Has a amnesia feel to it which is also really nice. STAY OUT OF THE DARK! Highly recommend!
Definitely should check this out if you enjoy puzzle games with horror elements similar to amnesia. It's a decent length game that can be finished in 1 to 2 sittings which is a nice breath of fresh air in an era of endless "content." Worth streaming to your friends for a chill weekend session.
