"Life of Slime" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one is slightly narrative driven, so I guess the Russian "developers" didn't just directly copy + paste an existing Unity template, but it's hardly much better. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The controls and game handling are notably very floaty and imprecise. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing or polish done. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "Life of Slime" has the insane price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. It's possible this price is either for the purpose of money laundering, or simply to prevent genuine reviews from reducing the fake "positive" review score from the fake reviews the developer paid for. Either way, this is unacceptable manipulation of the Steam store for profit. It's harmful to gamers and to genuine indie devs, because it gives indie devs a bad name.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Im sorry but.... i cant finish the game ! Too much bugs please do something.... at the point with the cops that shot us, Slami disapeared and i have to reload again and again...
Hmm, it's not as primitive a game as it might seem at first glance - the protagonist is going through a rough patch in his life. - The storyline will be familiar to many gamers. - Emotional. You'll be made to care. it's pretty good.... maybe even 4\5
Check out our Steam curator , YouTube channel and Twitter!
At least you can be a slime and have a slime life experiment. To be honest it could be dull, but can relax. Nice pixelart.
8-bit & lo-fi Okaaaaaay Best music, best game Love it <3 P.S But play the demo first, it's free haha

A short and silly story about a slime who wants to make babies but ends up in the middle of an infection. The game casts you as a young slime who works on his parents' farm. He plans to see his girlfriend in the large city because he doesn't know what to do with his life. He steals money from his parents and catches a ride on a truck. While a gamepad is not fully supported, it may still be used for moving around. However, if you want to complete the game by jumping and interacting with objects, you'll need to use a keyboard and mouse. Because the main goal of the game is to tell a story, you will not be required to go through difficult platforming sequences. You're basically going through linear sequences with no freedom. While you can walk around here and there, the path will take you directly to your destination and will stop any exploration with a notification indicating that you are not going the right way. After a while, the plot takes an unexpected turn. This is when you get a weapon and can pick whether to go crazy or save the slimes. The shooting is simple and uninteresting because you simply shot at targets with no feedback until they die. This implies that you, too, might die. Unfortunately, since you can’t skip text you’ve already seen, you have mash buttons every time you die. The other issue is that you burst at the slightest contact. Although the script hints that it was not originally written in English, the translation is adequate. Despite some strange sentences and direct translations that may not make much sense, I was able to follow the plot. Because of the two paths you can pursue and since you only get one chance to start dialogues that could lead to an achievement, most of them are missable. However, the game fixes this by giving you an option to replay chapters.
First I thought it was a game about asexuality. Then I thought it was a game about capitalism. Then I thought it was a game about Covid. Then I thought it was a game about Resident Evil 4. Now, I don't know if it was any of that or if it was anything at all. Tunes were banging though
