While the backlog kept looking at me I decided to start and finish The Hobbit because sometimes all you need is an adventure. A charming, lovely one. If you read the books, if you watched the movies you will feel right at home. It's cozy, simple and true to its origins. It’s a joy to play, especially if you have been playing more violent or tense games. There’s plenty to see and do while you advance in the story or even after you finish it. The world invites you to do some exploring if you are into that. However, if all you want is a straight single player (or co-op) experience to heal that open world fatigue then at around 8 hours you will scratch the single player streamlined itch. If you want more there’s plenty to keep you busy for twice the hours. The LEGO games made a habit to add little nuances of humor and fun moments where, while not keeping 100% real when comparing to the original books or movies they add a little character to the game. Puzzles are usually light and easy to solve, great to play with a friend or a younger sibling to invite exploration and trial and error without too much frustration. Performance wise the game still holds up quite well to this day. Just remember to lock your FPS to something like 60 or 120 FPS as the game does not need to run at unlocked FPS since it will demand more from your PC without need. Also, turn V-sync ON for a better and smoother experience. In the end it was time well spent to play this game, a perfect balance to mix among different genres or a solid option for some co-op fun.
