game works (sometimes) but takes 5-10+ min of black screen/"not responding" on every launch and it might just crash, no fix found. Ran Process Monitor and confirmed it's the engine itself. 41.6% of load time is the game reading its own files in ~2kb chunks, 36.5% is it continuously re-scanning input device registry entries for the whole load, not just at startup. A 2015 TT Games (DX9) engine issue I guess, not a config/driver/hardware problem. things I tried >resolution changes in pcconfig.txt >lowered res to 800x600 >deleted pcconfig.txt >-dx9 launch flag >switched dx9 to dx11 in game menu >windows 8 compat mode >switched audio output >cleared nvidia shader cache >disabled iCUE >unplugged mouse/kb, used xbox controller instead none of it made a consistent difference
It was a bit buggy, but its still fun to play. I recommend using a control while playing. Playing on keyboard are a bit hard to play lol. If you get use to the controls on the keyboard then you should be fine.
МОЗАЗАВР!!!!

Never, and I mean NEVER go for the 100% achievement on this game... By the end I wanted to rip my eyeballs out of my skull. Good game though, would recommend for the childhood experience 😁
